Hell on Heels:: My Sister's Keeper

Rate this book
Milan Brooks, a fashion buyer with a chip on her shoulder, has been through her share of cheating, disrespectful men. In most people's books she'd be rated a true dime, but she still hasn't been lucky enough to find a loyal man. When a chance encounter with a childhood friend turns into a promising relationship, Milan thinks things might be different this time. Unfortunately, her younger sister steps in with plans of her own.
Shekia feels nothing but envy when she looks at her sister. She is just as beautiful as Milan, but lacks confidence. Milan wants to get closer to her sister, but with jealousy and rage brewing in her heart, Shekia pushes her away. She's tired of playing in Milan's shadow, and has every intention of taking her place.
Sapphire has struggled with insecurities most of her life, but thinks she has finally figured it out. She's working as a dancer at a local strip club to pay her way through college, and though she isn't looking for a man, Mr. Right has fallen into her lap. She's on cloud nine, until she realizes his true colors. Feeling trapped, she makes one bad decision after another, altering the course of her life.
In Hell on Heels, you will watch the lives of these three women collide, leading to devastating consequences. The twists and turns will catch you off guard and blow your mind. Reminiscent of Brittani's debut novel, Daddy's Little Girl, expect the unexpected, because nothing is what it seems.

I liked Milan but at 19 she was able to buy an Infnite, rent a luxury apartment and quit her job to start her own business. Unbelievable. Tragedy abounds in this novel. Sapphire turns out to be a serial killer and she and Enzo meet terrible fates. It is Philly based so I liked that part of it. She married her childhood crush only to be devastated by his actions. Next husband was not good either.

This book lacked cohesion. The characters were one dimensional. I don't understand why the blurb made it seem like there would be three pov's consistently. But... Something crucial would happen after the characters voice stopped.
Sapphire (who also had another name that we learned at a crucial time. Sarah?) didn't need to be mentioned at all. The book should have been about Milan. Shekia and Sapphire could have been secondary characters.
Milan... Bad life choices abounded. At the end you could care less if she got back together with Devon anyway. He cheated on her with her sister (which, happened off camera) then with someone else?

Hell on Wheels started of like a roller coaster. It took me on a ride through the gritty streets of Georgia following three women. By the end I felt like the story line had changed and I lost interest. I had to finish because I wanted to know what happened. But, I was not happy with the story line.

This was not the appropriate name for this book in my opinion. I was expecting to read about a woman or women who were blazing through things. This turned out to be all about super weak females doing treacherous things to each other, being doormats, and the moral of the story being, forgiveness. Booooo! I only gave it a 3 star because it wasn't awful, but I totally disliked everyone and this did not seem like any story to tell anyone as a warning, other than not to be as ignorant as ALL of the women in this book.

I read 2 of Brittani Williams’s books in a row and they were almost the same. The same story line, different names. The ending for this one was not was I was expecting. All and all I didn’t enjoy this at all.

This book was pretty good , all over the place but it was pretty good. Started off with 3 women in it. Sapphire , shekia & Milan. The story killed off two characters and just focused on the other I love the success .. And the ending.

Sapphire: she was a stripper that didn't play about her relationships. She ended up quitting her job to be with Enzo. Enzo was a man that loved saving hoes .. & sapphire ended up learning that the hard way. She tried to keep Enzo to herself if making the surrounding women he was involved with disappear .. Going on a crazed act and when Enzo found out it ended up costing them both of their life. Sapphire & Enzo. Enzo was in the middle of saving shekia....

Shekia: she was a young teenager who was envious of her sister Milan .. She hated her no matter what she did for her, shekia was involved with her boyfriend mannie .. He was also her pimp she went through quite a lot to make sure mannie was pleased .. Enzo ended up coming to her rescue and shooting and killing mannie so you thought. But after the shooting with sapphire and Enzo he came back .. Forcing her back to her old life. She even ended up getting pregnant by one of milan's boyfriends .. But it died. She shortly after that ended up getting pregnant again by mannie & later on after having her daughter and still wanting to be in the streets she ended up killed by mannie , her sister ended up getting custody of her daughter jayla.

Milan: she was a educated woman but you would never know because of how she use to act before she got sent off to Georgia to live with her father. Little mama been through a lot. She was married to Devon for 12 years, suffering through his infidelity when he slept with her sister shekia and got her pregnant the first time and when he started fucking with her assistant April, during all that they ended up splitting up and Milan got involved with Justin.
Justin was the complete opposite of Devon and if you ask me she shoulda stayed with him everything that Justin said was a lie about himself .. He was a married man for 13 years and had kids . Including the one that he had with Milan Justin junior ... Milan did everything she could in her relationships but she Always managed to get fucked over. Devon even goes as far as getting that little young hoe April pregnant. After all the bullshit Milan and Devon get back together and combine the opposite families . Jayla ended up going to college. Samani ended up getting pregnant her senior year having the baby and moving on with her boyfriend Dave. Milan lost her mother in the middle of it all but everything happens for a reason right ?

Like I said the book was all over the place but I would love to see a second book with how it turned out . I will definitely look into more books by this Arthur.

Samani had her baby early, but she was okay. She was able to graduate high school. & the babies father was apart of her life. She moved in with him & Milan was planning their wedding. Justin was married & had kids. So him & Milan weren't actually married. She sued for child support even though she didn't need it. Her & Devon got together at the end & it was a happy fairytale. The book was a little all over the place, but I enjoyed it.

I started this book early morning and finished it in one day. I really like it but it took to long to get to the point. These sister were something else. These sister went through stuff that they could have avoided if only they would have got along. Sister should share a bond and these sister's didnt. All in all it was a good read
