Maya Banks is the #1 New York Times, #1 USA Today and international bestselling author of over 50 novels. A wife and mother of three, she lives in Texas.
Devon thought he could pull off a business merger and have a wonderful life all he had to do was get the big associates daughter to fall in love with him and say yes to his proposal of marriage. To him love didn't' matter . Ashley would never know she was part of the deal his friend Cam tried to warn him but he refused to listen. Ashley was crazy about him. Little did Devon know he was crazy about her to. He didn't realize it until she walked out on him .She found out about the fathers plans her then her best friend tells Devon about the baby he knows he loves her and wants a family with her and its going to take some work to get her back .
I wonder if there are arranged marriages these days just for business sake. Ashley had no idea though she was extremley hurt that Devon thought her to be so needy and giddy so irresponsible. She tried to make the marriage work by changing herself, cooking , and arranging things she thought would make Devon love her. What they both didn't know is that he loved her just the way she was and by her changing it took her spirit away. You shouldn't have to change completely for the person learning to cook is fine but don't ever let anyone take your smile.
Maya Bank's historical romance ... or Highland stories were always my go to favorites. I was curious to see if her modern romance books were as good. Sadly, no. However, this was a sweet and short one that was pleasant enough to fill my afternoon. Loved both heroine and Hero. Love the heroine's family, too. A tad bit too short, though. I would love to see a more prolonged grovel haha.
Never Too Late had an incorrect word usage in the 3rd Chapter that interrupted the flow, but other than that it was okay but could have used something more in the lovemaking, especially the nonexistent foreplay. Show, don't tell! Readers would rather be shown how good someone is in bed rather than being told. Not the best writing or setting (unimaginative at best) but interesting characters and worthwhile plot effort. Tempted by Her Innocent Kiss was the better story. I think she just needs work on her short game.
This is book 3 of 4 in this series and even though I think it's out of the world for four friends to get a woman pregnant and then fall in love, it's still a great series.
