On the day Lieutenant Nate Ryland's baby daughter is kidnapped, he finds hope in the most surprising of allies: Darcy Burkhart, a woman he never thought - never wanted - to see again. But Darcy's son has also been taken and there's nothing that will keep them from bringing their children home. Unfortunately this is no ordinary adversary, and even someone like Nate, who's used to dealing with the worst of society, can't predict the enemy's next move. As the search continues, Nate finds himself admiring the woman he once considered his greatest opponent - and desiring her in a way he never would have thought possible.

I'm a big fan of Delores Fossen's romantic suspense books, so it was no surprise to me how much I enjoyed this story. I've been reading her Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch miniseries, and have enjoyed all of them. She writes a great, modern cowboy hero, and the heroines she matches them with are well-deserving of their protection and their hearts. I think if you're a fan of the series, you'll find there's a Ryland brother to suit whatever your taste in heroes might be.
NATE's story especially resonated with me, I think, because I love a wounded, intellectual hero. Yet, he can get down and dirty in the middle of the action. When his young daughter is kidnapped, he has no choice but to team up with his family's enemy, attorney Darcy Burkhart, as her son is taken hostage as well. There's plenty of emotional baggage to work through to make this an emotionally compelling story in addition to the tense, fast-paced action and suspense. A double winner for me!
Excellent, fast paced book. I'm glad that Nate and Darcy already knew each other at the beginning of the book, otherwise the romance would be too much of a stretch for me. This was very well done, with incredible action and mental activity, as well as the sexual tension. Both Nate and Darcy had feelings of guilt related to the deaths of family members that had influenced their career choices. It also gave them a common bond. I enjoyed seeing them as they dealt with the crisis. I also enjoyed the interaction with the rest of the brothers, especially at the end. I'm bummed that the next book isn't due out until July.
I couldn't put this book down. It was action from the first line to the last line. Nate is the third installment in The Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch series. I have enjoyed every one of these books in this amazing series. I am a huge fan of Delores Fossen's books. They never disappoint me!
I loved ❤ this book's storyline. I loved ❤ the action in this story. I loved ❤ hot & steamy scenes. I loved ❤ Darcy's character. I loved ❤ Nate's character. I loved ❤ Kimmie & Noah, they are adorable. I loved ❤ the ending. Awesome job Ms. Fossen.
I love this series of books. Each book is a stand alone, and the series does not need to be read in order.
Darcy, and Nate knew each other from sparing in the court room. Darcy was the defending lawyer, and Nate was the lawman that wanted the slim he arrest put behind bars.
The story starts out intense. Darcy's son, and Nate's daughter was kidnapped from their preschool. The enemy lines started to blur as the two had to work together to find the kids. They may have been enemy's in the court room, but all that didn't matter when it came down to finding the children. The action, suspense was fast paced. I also loved the steamy romance between Darcy, and Nate.
Sample from chapter 2 - Nate snarled. He aimed a glare at her. "Besides, what good would you do going up against two armed men?" "What good could I do? Darcy practically yelled. "They have my son, and I'll get him back." Even though she didn't have a gun or any training in how to fight off bad guys. Still, she had a mother's love for her child, and that could overcome anything.
This is the third installment in Delores' Fossen The Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch. In this story, we meet Nate, a widower and lawman with an 18 month old daughter to raise. It was bad enough when his wife was killed, but when his baby girl is kidnapped, his world comes crashing down. Darcy is a defense attorney who has often come up against Nate in the court of law. The fact her baby boy is also kidnapped forges an unlikely alliance between the two frantic parents.
Fossen keeps the pace running high from the beginning. The kidnapping adds tension as does the race to figure out who is at the bottom of it. While the number of suspects isn't high, Fossen does a fantastic job of keeping the reader guessing and confused as new information constantly changes the rules of the game. The relationship between Darcy and Nate progresses as they rely on one another and forge a bond that will last them into the future.
This is a solid entry in the series and Intrigue fans won't be disappointed.
Fossen done it again another nail biting page turner. I can't help myself when it comes to her books I never want to put them down. I think I could sit in a room for days reading her work and would be in heaven. If you want an action packed love story that will keep you interested the entire book than Fossen is definitely the author for you.
Nate has one thing on his mind and that is ensuring his daughter is returned safely. He will get back Darcey's son too. These two small children have been taken in a scheme to blackmail him into unethical antics. He is a lawman through and through. He will not be bullied into something he doesn't believe in. No matter what he will get his child and he will punish the culprit behind the attack no matter what the cost.
Darcy eased back and looked Nate in the eyes. “I’m in love with you.” Nate smiled that little smile that made her want to kiss him again. And haul him off to bed. But bed could wait. “Yes,” she added. “I want to marry you.” Nate’s smile suddenly wasn’t so little. “Good. Because I’m in love with you, and I definitely want to marry you.” He hooked his uninjured arm around her and hauled her closer to him for a perfect kiss.
Lieutenant Nate Ryland's toddling daughter, Kimmie, has been kidnapped along with Defense Attorney Darcy Burkhart's son, Noah. Nate had hoped neve to see her again, especially since she defended the man that killed Nate's wife. That man is dead, but she's defending a man, Wesley Dent, who was married to the murdered Sandra Dent, and is trying to claim her estate. Of course, Sandra also has an ex-husband Edwin Frasier and son, Adam, who are trying to push Wesley Dent into a guilty sentence and jail cell so they can claim her estate. Marlene the daycare worker leaves them a clue on a dusty van, one of three used in the kidnapping, but she had a brief affair with Edwin Frasier. So, who could have pulled a job like this off with the amount of money it would take? Read and find out.
Nate book #3 in the ( THE LAWMEN OF SILVER CREEK RANCH ) by: Delores Fossen This read will get to you because it not only involves Nate but also involes the attractive Lawyer who finds out their babys has been kidnapped and one of the teacher but not for ransom but to set up the widowed husband to go to jail even if he is innocent. But the plan gose from bad to worse when they kidnappers escape and come after them on a mmm ost personal level. With a murderer on the lose and the heat risen between Nate and the Lawyer can they servive the night.
What would you do if your toddler was kidnapped? This happens to police Lieutenant Nate Ryland and attorney Darcy Burkhart. They are then forced to work together to rescue the children and to bring the perpetrator(s) to justice. But who thought up this scheme and why?
Some of the reasons become clear quickly, others not so fast. At least the children are safe, but bot Nate and Darcy are again in the crosshairs of both the criminals and their resurrected feelings for each other. Will either of them survive one or both of those issues?
Well shit, this was stupid and would have been a much better choice for GarbAugust, a reading event in August where we read trashy books. This was telenovela trash starring a family of white boys from Texas who are all in law enforcement and one of their kids gets kidnapped along with another kid. One G rated smut scene happens and of course the main characters fall in love and get married. This was so bad it was funny, obviously not the author's intention but I made Mystery Science Theater 3000 comments with each absurdity.
NATE, 3rd book of The Lawmen of Silver Creek series by Delores Fossen
NATE is a thrilling adventure about a determined cop putting everything on the line to rescue the two kidnapped babies, his confrontations with the villains, the drama behind the kidnapping and the accusations, and the unwanted attraction blossoming into love. YEE HAW! Delores Fossen’s intriguing stories captive her audience right to the end.
Wow! Strong, hurting but a second chance at love and did I say action? Love seeing the other brothers make guest appears and references to their wives!! Book is hard to put down, once you catch your breath the action starts up all over again!
this one is really for the action/adventure junkies, fast paced and keeps moving but lacks any real depth. It is a good story to keep you entertained at the doctors but I doubt you will fall in love with it enough to reread it later.
Although I thought the fast-paced suspense was awesome, I couldn't keep track of all the peripheral characters and once I realized that the brothers' names rhymed I couldn't take their alpha-ness seriously. Apart from Nate the other Rylands are Grayson and Mason, and Kade and Dade. I flipped backward to see if they were meant to be twins but couldn't find that detail, if it's there.
I was also slightly disappointed in the lack of engagement with the heroine's job as a defense attorney. I thought it was a great opportunity for her to take a stand and make a point about 'innocent until proven guilty' and the universal right to representation and fair trial. Instead she's so freaked out by events and so doubtful of her client's innocence that she quits as his defense attorney and vows to get a new job. This decision seems even worse when it's revealed that
Nonetheless there's some solid action, well drawn suspense and a reasonably convincing HEA.
It follows the same kind of plot points as the book before namely that all the Rylands hate the heroine (her crime....she's a defence attorney, although admittedly in the last book she was defending the man responsible for Nate's Wife's murder), but she slowly wins them around.
The book starts with the abduction of the son and daughter of respectively Darcy and Nate. What follows then is the search for the children and solving the mystery of who kidnapped them and why.
I love the way all the brothers appear in this book each of them have their part to play and we get to see them interact with each other and understand the bond between them. I also loved seeing Nate and Darcy bond together through their mutual love of their children.
In Fossen's romantic suspense novel, Lieutenant Nate Ryland's daughter is kidnapped, as is Darcy Burkhart's son. In Darcy, Nate finds an unlikely ally. Teaming together to bring their children home, Nate is accustomed to dealing with the worst society has to offer, but even he can't predict the enemy's next move. As the search continues, Nate finds himself admiring the woman he once saw as his greatest opponent. To his surprise, he also finds himself desiring her in a way he never thought possible. Another fast-paced installment to The Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch series.
Nate Ryland and Darcy Burkhart don't really like each other. They've faced off in the past, Nate a cop despises Darcy the defense attorney. However, they have to set their dislike apart when their children are kidnapped. Someone intends to use their children as leverage in getting what they want. I liked Nate's story, he is a tough widowed cop who clearly loves his daughter. The suspense and romance was well written and it was a good read.
Excellent read! There were a few eye rolling moments over how quickly things progressed for the two leads but this wasn't the first book in the series so maybe they were both mentioned before. It was definitely good enough for me to want to look up the other books! Thank you so much to my wonderful friend Louise for giving me this book for my birthday!
