He first achieved mainstream recognition for creating the popular manga series Dr. Slump, before going on to create Dragon Ball (his most famous work) and acting as a character designer for several popular video games such as the Dragon Quest series, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon. Toriyama came to be regarded as one of the most important authors in the history of manga with his works highly influential and popular, particularly Dragon Ball, which many manga artists cite as a source of inspiration.
He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen/shōjo manga with Dr. Slump, and it went on to sell over 35 million copies in Japan. It was adapted into a successful anime series, with a second anime created in 1997, 13 years after the manga ended.

In 2019, Toriyama was decorated a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contributions to the arts.
In October 2024, Toriyama was inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame.

As with every book in this series the chapters and jokes are very hit and miss.

Aunque parecía ser el fin de Arale fue salvada por las Gatcha. Y Senbei tendrá la misión de reconstruirla.

The evil scientist's robot smashes Arale to pieces. Obotchaman gets angry at Mashirito. The robot also defeats Obotchaman. Then the two gatchan's appear. They manage to get rid of the robot and Senbi finds Arale and Obotchaman and fixes them.
The fix isn't easy, though, and he puts Arale's head on Obotchaman's body for a while. An anatomically correct Obotchaman. (Arale is not anatomically correct, by the way.)
Mashirito tries to kill Senbei but fails. Senbei fixes Arale but there's a difference. She can now fly by farting. He fixes that and also fixes Obotchaman's body.
Then there's a story about the two Gatchans. Then there's a story about Suppaman. Rip Van Suppaman. He again displays his basically evil, and quite incompetent, manner. Syoppaman is a brother of Suppaman. Poor kid.
Then there's a hilarious section where a criminal alligator is causing problems. The police call in Arale to 'go play' with the alligator. Soon the alligator is begging the police to arrest him (and keep him safe.)
Midori gets really concerned about her weight and tries exercising. A lot. She gains. She's pregnant.
After that there's a section entitled Poop-Boy Finds a Home.
