?Dance Into Destiny is a story of friendship, love, and overcoming issues from the past. It illustrates how pursuing an intimate relationship with the Lord is the key to reaching one's true potential and fulfilling one's God-ordained destiny and purpose.
In the book Dance Into Destiny by Sherri L. Lewis, Keeva Banks had been kicked out of one prestigious school and was now on the brink of flunking out of another and being cut off financially by her parents. Keeva was used to getting everything that she wanted from her parents as long as she lived the life they wanted for her to live. Keeva's dreams of becoming a dancer as a little girl died when her father pretty much planned her profession and pushed his ideas of success on her. Keeva was in a relationship that long ago lost its luster and had a group of girlfriends that she could care less about hanging out with. It was now the end of the semester and grades were soon to come. She needed to study and get a good grade on her finals. Keeva did not think that things could get any worse until she was assigned to work with a homely looking girl on a school project. The stress was unbearable and her only release was going back to her first love, but little did she know that she would find a greater love during this journey.
Shara Anderson worked hard in school and for the youth in her community. She wasn't into fashion, dating, and all of the frills and thrills that many sought after in college. Shara, the daughter, of a strict pastor had always been in the church and was now saved. Shara's passion was the youth and helping to motivate them to achieve good grades and instill faith that they could be more than what their environment dictated. From the outside it seemed as if everything in Shara's life was in order, and things perfect. Shara was more concerned about helping people than having a personal life. Shara focused on helping the kids and her new project partner, Keeva but did not feel that she could do enough for either. She met the potential youth pastor, Quinton and fights the growing attraction to him Shara could not deny the similarities between him and her. Shara had a hard time breaking free from the strict teachings of her father concerning men and allowing herself to get a complete makeover to be the woman of God that He created her to be.
Quinton Mercer was in a new town, ready to work with the youth of Kingdom Builders Christian Church, which was located in the inner city, to build up the kingdom of God. Quinton's motives were pure although not well thought, thinking that money could buy the kids and was only temporary. Quinton and Shara had to work together since he was seeking the position of youth pastor and she was one of the youth leaders. Quinton felt something in his spirit stir as she began talking about her vision for the youth. He did not worry too much about her disheveled look. Quinton fell for Shara at first sight and was glad that she did not recognize him from the basketball court. He was trying to outrun his own demons. God can only heal what is revealed!
It was a great book ; I could barely put it down and I was done with it too quickly. I could visualize the storyline and connected with each character. It is an excellent read! It is heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time, but truly is exemplary of our God and how he uses what the devil means for the bad and turns it into something good.
Lewis' latest work was an entertaining book that centers around two female characters who become close friends. The two come from different backgrounds which leads to differences in opinion but in the end they both come to lean on each other. Another aspect of the plot is one character's struggle to find God and her true purpose rather than follow the path set before her. I read this book in one sitting because it was a page turner, I had to know what was going to happen next. Some of the plot was predictable but the novel was still very well written.
I truly enjoy reading this book and realize that many Christians follow religion instead of Christ, and that is what makes the difference. Shara won Keegan over to the Lord through her actions instead of only words. As the Bible states we are salt of the earth to show the way.
Just reading about Keith made me feel suffocated for Keeva. Love how Shara relationships with both Keeva and Quinton naturally blossomed. See what happens when God knocks those walls down.

My review:
Dance into Destiny is the kind of story that makes you think about the characters long after you close the book. While it did have a bit of a slow start, once I got pulled into the pages I felt driven to finish it. I read most of the story in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. I especially loved Keeva's struggle with her boyfriend and how well the author showed that she did many things just to please him even though they left her feeling empty. Once she saw godly relationships centered on Christ, she realized something was missing in her life. What a perfect illustration of how to love an unsaved friend and lead them to saving faith!
The importance of being honest with yourself and in your relationship with God is part of the spiritual thread, which is thick and strong and beautifully woven in to the lives of the characters. The author uses contrasting examples of what people think love is, and because it's so well done, the effect on the reader is deep and profound. This story is full of examples of real life issues that will grip your heart, and it's also about faith and friendship, and the source of real love.
Ms. Lewis knows how to create three dimensional characters like few authors can. She understands human frailty and forgiveness better than most, and it shows in the lives of her characters. Her insight is exceptional. I am thoroughly impressed with how well she paces the progression of faith in her characters' lives. She also shows the power mentoring can have in the lives of young people.
Her hero is downright dreamy. He's the kind of man everyone wants to have, yet he's flawed and real and by no means perfect. But his intentions are honorable and his heart is sincere. That makes for a great hero. I especially loved how he used street slang to reach out to the local kids. The way the characters teased each other also made me smile. I could see their expressions and felt like I was right there hanging out with them. I grew with them through their struggles. Nothing in this story felt contrived, and because I read so many books, for me, that's truly refreshing.
Dance Into Destiny was published by Urban Christian (Kensington Publishing group) and released in January 2008.
Awesome read. This is an exciting story of overcoming life, falling in love with God and living for Him, how to undertand and reach your destiny - Keeva. It is a poignant love story of a God-fearing man for a God-fearing woman and how to work and respect that love - Quinton & Shara. This story teaches that if/when you fail you can get up learn from it and go forward with God and let your life-lessons become a way to help others overcome - Jamil. Mother Hobbs is not some old church busybody she is a woman of wisdom full of compassion. Lastly, it teaches that sometimes even if the seed has been planted, we have to let go; we can't save everyone - Tangee, T-bone and Quintell.
This was the first urban Christian title i ever read, and i am hooked. I just happen upon it while at borders one day waiting on a friend and it is like God place it right in my hands. It spoke to me on so many levels, and made me really think about the state of my relationship with God and what my Destiny was. I dare anyone to read this book and not come away changed. Do not worry it is not super preachy and unrealistic, it is like a "real talk", kick in the pants from a friend that only wants God’s best for you. :)
This is the first novel I've read by Sherri L. Lewis and it WON'T be the last! What an INSPIRATIONAL treat. I was CAUGHT UP in the lives of her well-developed and MEMORABLE characters. I enjoyed actually witnessing the PERSONAL GROWTH of each of the main characters in their relationships with one another and with God. Ms. Lewis will DEFINITELY keep you turning the pages with this HEARTWARMING, romantic, and sometimes humorous read.
What a great read. This book spoke to my spiritual life, relationship before marriage, and the importance of having a strong relationship with God. I wrote down things from the book that will forever be a reference to me and I will share with others. If you wonder whether or not this Christian novel was a page turner... it was. From beginning to end and you often felt like you were a part of it because thats how the writer pulled you in. Great read!!
This version must be rewritten from the previous one I read years ago. I hope this is better and not slow in the beginning...as the author once stated on a BTR interview. I liked the first book she wrote.
This book was surprisingly great the characters were real and the plot was real. Some of the relationships could've been more developed but all in all it was a great book. I really connected with keeva and the struggles she had. if we all could hear from God like that when we're not sure.
keeva is way stronger than I remembered. she has it all except salvation and realizes that in her salvation is her purpose. shara and quinton are still as cute and cheesy. altho they dnt get together until pass the half way mark the attraction is there as soon as they meet.
