Anaxilea: Amazon Princess

Rate this book
The Amazons of the steppes have conquered since a time before recorded history. The kingdom of the proud women warriors is threatened by a vast invading force of men in metal armor who attack out of the western mountains at the edge of the Amazon domain. Anaxilea, the youngest daughter of War Queen Lysippe, is taken hostage by the army of men and sold into slavery.

Anaxilea finds herself in a bizarre new world where women are beneath men, cows are valued more than horses, and everyone desires the worthless metal gold. A shepherd boy, from a tribe long ago subjugated by the Amazons, is her only guide to the new world, but his motives are suspicious and his loyalties constantly changing.

After Anaxilea is sold to the ancient Ludus Dacicus, a gladiator training school founded by the first Caesar, she must learn to fight within the arena to prove her worth or suffer a fate worse than death. Romance blossoms within the walls of the ludus, and Anaxilea finds herself as the focus of a love triangle, caught between a pure-hearted slave girl and a charming Olympic champion. The games at Neapolis will determine if she survives to claim her birthright as an Amazon Princess or fall to betrayal.

Alex and Becky have agreed to write each other’s bios for Goodreads…
Alex made his name and managed to finagle a few beers out of fans by penning a long running comic strip about the life and times during college of him, his friends, and his beloved girlfriend Becky. When college ended, he made the stumblingly awkward transition to more mainstream writing endeavors like zombie books and possibly fortune cookies. Eventually he hopes to get his church of Cthulhu off the ground, literally, as it is an airship constructed from a single wide trailer and Thanksgiving parade floats. In the writing shared (unequally) between him and the aforementioned beloved girlfriend, his sections tend to be the subjectively more funny ones and/or the action sequences.

Read the first 2 books and they were very good. I hope to see Anaxilea the Rebel soon to see how she gets out of the Imperium.

Great story with awesome characters and plots. I can't wait until I read the next book. I really enjoyed the world in which it was written and all of the dialect going on with the characters.

Interesting book on female gladiators.

Anaxilea is 15 and taken from the steppes to fight in the Roman Arena as the last Amazon princess. Definitely worth a read!
