Tiny is not obeying. He won't come when Elliot calls him, and he rolls over when he tells him to "sit." Looks like somebody needs to go back to school! Cari Meister uses simple language in this new level 1 reader to instill confidence in beginning readers. And because of that, it is a book young children learning to read will come back to over and over again!
Cari Meister lives on a small farm in Minnesota with her husband, four sons, three horses, one dog and one cat. Cari enjoys running, snowshoeing, horseback riding, and yoga. She loves to visit libraries and schools!
As has been said by other reviews, Tiny Goes Back to School is not a story book but a, "Emergent Reader" book for reinforcing simple words. That said, a young kiddo will love the the little plot and the great expressions on Tiny
**You can't always judge practice readers by the books reviews, because some people don't understand that some of the little books are for practicing reading and little else.
TINY GOES BACK TO SCHOOL is for beginning readers and it is at the Kindergarten Reading level. It's a book that has just 99 words and sentences like the following: Tiny is a good dog. He does what I say.
Watch.
Tiny's story is going to appeal to little children who love dogs. In the story Tiny's boy is proud of him and how obedient Tiny is. Only problem is that Tiny isn't obedient, so his boy decides to take him to The Happy Dog School.
At first it's doggy chaos with the dogs chasing each other and having fun. That is until the dog-master brings out dog treats. THEN Tiny pays attention. In fact, he is soon showing the other dogs how it's done.
Cute humor and simple sentences. Accelerated Reading level: 0.6
This is an easy read, recommended for grades K-2. I would enjoy reading this on the first day of class to get children back in the swing of school. Any animal book is also a winner for me as most children can relate to animals!
Um... this book was not especially engaging or fun to read. The idea was there, but the execution could have been so much better. And so could the illustrations have been so much better.
