4 1/2 Stars! ~ Sam's the oldest Landry brother. He lives on the family ranch with his stepson, Kevin and the youngest Landry brother, Shane. His wife has died in a car accident and Sam wants to adopt Kevin. In order to do that, Sam must find Kevin's biological father. In that search, it's discovered that Sam's dead wife could not possibly have given birth to Kevin, and that a local artist is actually Kevin's biological mother. For three years, Callie has been spending every extra dollar she earns on a PI to help find her abducted son. When Sam comes to her under the ruse of commissioning her to paint some landscapes, Callie finds that she's being stalked by the kidnappers. And when she moves to Sam's ranch for safety, she discovers to whole truth, that her son is Kevin and that the kidnappers are threatening Sam too.
A very good suspense. Once again there are some very interesting twists that were lead up to quite nicely. Sam, like his cousin Cade, is a man who needs to take care of his woman

The Landry land had been split in two; the Lazy L was Cade's and the Lucky 7, belonged to the seven cousins. There's a ten year mystery surrounding the disappearance of Caleb and Priscilla Landry. It's been said that Priscilla took off with another man and Caleb went after them, leaving behind their seven adult sons. The brothers have never found any clue to the where abouts of their parents.
A very good suspense. Once again there are some very interesting twists that were lead up to quite nicely. Sam, like his cousin Cade, is a man who needs to take care of his woman

This was the first book that I read by this author, and when I started it, I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the friction between the two main characters. It has a good story line, although 3/4 of the way through it the friction stopped between the characters and it didn't seem to be as well written. Also, some of the plot wasn't put together as well. But all in all, it was a good story, enough to make me want to read about the other six brothers, their stories.

"His Only Son" is a book that combines strong emotion and a twisty mystery into a read that's not to be missed. The story of a man and woman united when his son turns out to be her kidnapped child, it not only is moving, but a real pageturner when it comes to the intrigue element. There is a lot that needs to happen to make the romance believable in a situation like this, and Roberts pulls it off with ease. The dialogue is great, with banter that's thankfully based on real emotion instead of sniping and innuendo. Parts of the story are so honest and raw they're almost painful to read, but in the end, the reading experience is much more rewarding because we've come through it all with the characters. The rest of the Landry brothers are introduced in subtle ways that indicate Ms. Roberts has some interesting tales in store for us. A red hot start for a series that finds this favorite author in top form.

I bought this because I read and enjoyed the Last Landry, I thought it might be nice to see more of the family. Unfortunately it seems as though Kelsey put no effort into settling on the basic traits of the characters before starting to write, although Taylor and Shane both appear they're completely different characters. Taylor's entire backstory had changed and she was just rude.
Callie and Sam had an unlikely romance, and I struggled a bit with the weird kidnap thing. Incidentally Jasper is supposed to be a tiny town, but appears to have a massively high crime rate and several major businesses.
I was happy to see the happy ending, but it all felt forced.

Thoroughly enjoy the landry brothers and how different they are in character,unfortunately have run out of room on my bookshelf and something has to go. Sam Landry discovers that the boy he has been raising is not the child or his ex wife and the search for his birthmother ensues. Yes it is a romance and he falls in love with this woman but the story is lightweight and engaging and makes you feel good so why not?
