Years ago, Kate McIntosh had hightailed it out of Beauville, Texas, fast. Her new life in New York City is complete, but now she's forced to return home temporarily to deal with family--and the past. A past that includes an angst-filled romance with the local bad boy.
Dustin Jones is still local and not quite the bad boy anymore...though townsfolk would argue that point. As foreman of the Dead Horse Ranch, Dusty's got responsibilities--a life. Yet he's never quite forgotten--or forgiven--his first love, Kate. He's determined to set things right.
But time is running out. Assailed by memories, Kate can't wait to get out of Texas. Meantime Dusty has some surprising news of his own.
Kristine Rolofson, author of over forty books for Harlequin, began writing in 1987. Since then her novels have appeared on bestseller lists and won numerous awards. She and her husband divide their time between Rhode Island, Idaho and Texas. Her new series, "Willing To Wed", begins in September with THE HUSBAND SCHOOL, set in a small town in Montana. Kristine spends her spare time fiddling, quilting and shopping for cowboy boots.
Overall a decent book. Storyline didn’t have much plot and the romance was rushed and felt forced. The characters weren’t as well developed as I would’ve liked though.
This started out slow for me, but I like Kristine Rolofson's westerns so I kept reading. I liked Gert, Kate McIntosh, grandmother. She was determined to push Kate and Dustin Jones, her ranch foreman, together. Dustin and Kate share a past, which she ran from 9 yrs ago, when the rumors of he'd been with Lisa had resulted in her pregnancy. Now he's a father to Danny and Gert has plans to make him a partner on her ranch. Loving family interaction within the family and extending that love to Danny and Dustin. The past comes into the story for both Dustin and Gert's daughter, Martha, having with different family issues.
