And they lived happily ever after.

I’ve always loved that sentence. There is such hope in those words, such faith in the future and ever-after love. I’ve always been a believer, which led me to being a reader of romance novels long before I began to write them. The dance of courtship between a man and a woman, sometimes slow and bluesy, sometimes wild and uninhibited, is sheer bliss to me. And the best part about writing is creating these two dancers who find their perfect partners out of all the other people on the planet.

What brings them together? What could tear them apart? Why do they stick it out through the bad times? Why do they fall more in love with each other every day? Finding the answers to these questions intrigues me. Who are you? I ask them. Some characters give me an hour-long monologue; others clam up until I push the right buttons. Eventually, I get them all to talk, even if I have to torture them a little.

On my journey to becoming a writer, I did a lot of the usual things—married, had children, attended college a little later than the average coed and earned a B.A. in English. Some not-so-usual things happened, too. Life constantly changes, and so we must grow. It’s not a bad thing.

I’ve been fortunate enough to win some awards and receive some honors, which are listed elsewhere on this site. I’ve had the great privilege of working with an exceptional editor from my first book on. My community of writers spans the entire country—smart, funny and loyal people who share and give and support. Without them, this once-upon-a-time journey wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun.

This is a Harlequin special edition contemporary romance. This book was released in February,2013.
Michael Fortune has come to the small Texas town of Red Rock to convince his cousins to come back to work for the company their father and Michael's father runs. The cousins have all moved on happily, so Michael will have a hard time getting them to listen. But since he set eyes on Felicity, his cousin Wyatt's fiance' s best friend, he keeps looking for excuses to stay in Red Rock.
Felicity runs a candy shop with her aunt. She's a sweet girl next door type. When it becomes obvious Michael is attracted to Felicity, he is warned repeatedly to stay away from her. It's too late either way, because Felicity knows at first sight, Michael is her guy, despite his reputation.... until she learns his views on love.
Can the two learn to live with their differences?
I liked the way the story evolved. Michael has a lot to learn about love and romance. He is accustomed to taking charge and planning everything. That backfires on him at first.
Felicity is the one that ends up taking charge , however.
She had to decide if she was alright with what Michael had to offer or if she wanted to hold out for more.
The mystery of what causes the cousins to leave the company is an ongoing story line, so stay tuned.

I give this one a B +

Very good book. Michael had come to Red Rock to try to talk his cousins into coming back to Atlanta and the family business. He met Felicity the first day he was there and felt an immediate connection to her. It really threw him because he'd never felt anything like it before. But he doesn't believe in romantic love and thinks it is a myth. He believes successful relationships are built on respect and friendship and having things in common. All his family members told him to leave her alone, that he was the type to break her heart. He hates being told he can't do something so he ignores them. Michael finds himself thinking about her constantly and wanting to do things for her. At first he does things like he would in Atlanta, but soon finds that those are not the type of things that appeal to Felicity. I loved seeing Michael as he starts thinking more about her than himself. Felicity is a successful businesswoman who knows what she wants. She is also a great believer in love. She felt the connection with Michael right away also and was convinced she had met "the one". She couldn't understand why everyone was warning her against him because she saw a caring thoughtful man. Both she and Michael end up with some issues they have to face before they can reach their happy ending. I really liked the way that Felicity stood up for herself and her needs. I also enjoyed seeing Michael as he came to realize that his cousins had no intention of returning to Atlanta and how he applied their feelings to his own life. I'm looking forward to finding out more about the reason that sent them all running.

Ha sido una bonita historia. De esas que suceden en pocos días y los protas van muy rápidos. Pero para desconectar mientras estás en una sala de espera o viajando el metro es lo que mejor puedes leer.

For a genre book, this was really cute, with some unexpected twists. I really liked the candy shop angle.

very cute

I love the way it started and ended. There was emotion and more from the main characters. Love how he finally gets it right at the end.
