This totally unputdownable seasonal read is perfect for anyone who believes in the magic of Christmas. Packed with heart-warming festive cheer, and bursting with merrymaking, this novel is perfect for fans of Debbie Macomber, Robyn Carr and Elin Hildebrand.

EXCERPT: Gwen stepped closer, slipping on the spectacles she wore on a chain around her neck to read the text. Her forehead furrowed as she scanned the lines, muttering under her breath, which, despite everything, made Ellie smile. 'Better days . . . shabby . . . datedness!' She glanced at Ellie, looking affronted. 'I don't think the inn is dated. Not anymore.' 'Well, we didn't change that much in the end, with the renovations, did we?' Ellie replied, trying to be pragmatic. 'Some new linens and another bathroom, but the carpet runner in the hall, for example, is still the same.' Gwen drew herself up. 'Yes, and that's an antique! But antiques aren't dated. Her mother-in-law looked so put out that, improbably, Ellie found her lips twitching and she gave a sudden, surprising guffaw of laughter. Gwen's eyebrows rose, and for a second she looked as icily imperious as a queen, only to suddenly collapse into giggles, which made Ellie laugh again, even harder this time. Soon they were both laughing, tears streaming from their eyes, hands wrapped around their middles. Ellie wasn't even sure what they were laughing about, or if there was anything to laugh about in the first place. All she knew was it felt to laugh, like a muscle that had needed to be stretched - it hurt, just a little, but it also brought relief.

MY THOUGHTS: This is another delightful read in the Inn at Bluebell Lane series. It is now two years since Matthew and Ellie and their four children moved to a small village in Wales. Slowly the family had settled in with Matthew and Ellie helping to refurbish and manage the Inn. But now, not all is going well. The Inn isn't doing as well as it had been hoped - in fact, it is in dire financial straits; Matthew is keeping a secret from everyone; Jess, 15, is having a seemingly never-ending round of friendship and boy dramas; Ben, 13, is neglecting his schoolwork and heading into trouble; Josh, 10, is anxious about starting at a new school; and Ava, 6, has health issues. On top of that, all is not well in Sarah and Nathan's house either, with Nathan becoming increasingly distant from his family, Mairi stressing about her GCSEs, and Oliver getting into trouble at school. Sarah doesn't know what to deal with first!
There is a lot of tension in this storyline - with marital discord, financial difficulties and trouble with the children, yet at the same time it is heartwarming to see how everyone pulls together to try and save the Inn and to support one another.
This is an easy and enjoyable read which would make a wonderful Christmas gift along with the first book, The Inn on Bluebell Lane, and the author has left the way open for another book to be written in the series.
The only thing that disappointed me is that the book takes up only 76% of the Kindle edition; the remaining 24% taken up by promotion of the author's other books. I felt just a little cheated.

It was already two years since Ellie, her husband Matthew and their four children had moved to Wales from the US, to help Matthew's mum Gwen with the inn on Bluebell Lane, which had been in his family for as long as he could remember. With his father having been gone for twenty years, and Gwen running the inn alone, it had needed some care to keep it from falling into ruin. Ellie was proud of all they had done, so was completely taken unawares when her sister-in-law, Sarah, had approached Ellie with the news the financial situation of the inn was dire. They'd be lucky to survive until the other side of Christmas.
Ellie was determined to save the inn and came up with an idea for a special Christmas week for families who wouldn't have to do anything except relax. With advertising and promotions, it looked like Ellie's idea would work, as first one family, then another booked into the inn for the week over Christmas. Soon they were fully booked...
But there was trouble within the family for Sarah and her children, and Matthew was holding something close to his chest. What would be the outcome for the inn the whole family had grown to love so dearly?
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane is the 2nd in The Inn on Bluebell Lane series by Kate Hewitt and it was a delightful read. I could picture the softly falling snow; the beautiful Christmas tree as the family decorated it; Mabel, Sarah and Mairie's beloved horse; the excitement of Christmas morning - all combined to give me a very pleasurable read which I highly recommend.
With thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
It’s been two years since Ellie, her husband Matthew and their four children have moved from the USA to live in Wales and help Matthew’s mother run the Bluebell Inn which his mother has been running for a number of years . Things however aren’t going as well as they would like and something needs to be done to improve the financial troubles of the Inn. Along with trying to come up with ideas to get more people booking, the family also have their own family problems . They aren’t the only ones however and Sarah who is Ellie’s sister in law has her own problems . Gwen , Matthew and Sarah’s mother is doing her best to help everyone and a friend from her past has come back into her life . Will this friendship grow into something more ? It has been an absolute pleasure being back at the Bluebell Inn and catching up with everyone we met in book 1. In spite of this book having a Christmas title it’s so much more than a Christmas read . It shows how important families are and how they all try to help each other during difficult times . An easy but well written read that I thoroughly enjoyed . I also must mention the gorgeous cover which really gave me a lovely Christmas feel as soon as I saw it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was such a sweet and heartwarming book. I loved seeing the family come together to try to save the Inn. The best part about it all was that I could imagine the inn in my mind. I imagined this magical place where no matter who you were, you were welcomed. It was cozy and always smelled of baked goods and Christmas scents.
There was, however, more to this book than just saving the inn. Ellie and Sarah’s lives look very different by the end of the book. Each has their own family change or potential change that they must work through. That may mean moving back to the states for Ellie and her family, and it may mean that Nathan and Sarah split up.
The thing is, and it’s something I don’t really love, but if there is another installment I could get behind, is that the end of the book was left a little open. We did see the family having a wonderful, much needed Christmas together. And that was beautiful, something I wish I could have.
Christmas at the Inn in Bluebell Lane by Kate Hewitt is a lovely winter read that surprised me a couple of times.
I really enjoyed that there's a couple of story lines, and different things going on for the people in teh family. Every one of them felt like a fully fleshed out person, and had their own goals and agency, which made it easy to get hooked onto this story.
Another big plus for me is how this book doesn't always go down the road you expect. I've read quite a few Christmas stories set around an Inn, but this stood out instead of feeling like the same thing for the twentieth Rome, especially in the second half.
I loved how normal and down to earth most of these characters are, no drama just for drama's sake. Life might throw a spanner, but that's how life is! I like that so much better than the friction for a story coming from people just misunderstanding things and never talking about it. These characters are flawed and don't always get along perfectly, but they do so in a very relatable and realistic fashion.
There's quite some serious topics strewn in with the warmth of the story, and I felt all of them handled well. From loss, health issues, a marriage at breaking point to kids having troubles at or with school, it felt like a natural part of the story and added more layers to the characters.
What I didn't like as much was how you definitely noticed this is a book from a series. There's quite a bit of reminders of what happened before, which is fine if you jump into a story some way through. However I would have liked some more resolution. Almost all the arcs are still open, and while I do understand how a bit of a cliffhanger is great to pull people along to the next book, I usually enjoy overarching plots staying open, but smaller arcs getting closure.
Another slight sore point, my netgalley ARC is 368 pages, but the actual books ends on page 250. So that's almost half the book again in advertising for other books and snippets. I confess I was a bit disappointed when I ran into the end while I thought some more of that closure I was anticipating was coming up.
When faced with obstacles, adding a dose of creativity can turn problems into unforeseen opportunities. Ellie's family restored the Inn on Bluebell Lane to its former glory but instead of ringing in holiday celebrations they are facing bankruptcy. Ellie refuses to give up and creates a Christmas event at the Inn.
While wrapping up her list, Ellie's husband puts a pending offer on the table that will change their lives. Will Ellie's family help her realize that holding on too tightly to the past can prohibit her from embracing the future? What will the happen to the Bluebell Inn, you'll have to read Kate Hewitt's Christmas tale to find out for yourself.

Ellie and her family have lived in the picturesque Welsh village for two years. She moved there from America to run the inn that belonged to her husband's family. The Inn is in financial trouble and will probably have to close after Christmas. The thought of the Inn closing is heartbreaking for the whole family. Ellie decides to do everything she possibly can to save the Inn. She decides to celebrate Christmas like never before. It’s all hands on deck, with her mother-in-law, Gwen in the kitchen baking pies. Her sister-in-law Sarah decorating all the rooms and Ellie’s husband Matthew turns the outdoor gardens into a winter wonderland. But will all their efforts be enough to save the Inn or will this be their last Christmas there?
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane by author Kate Hewitt, was a wonderful escape back to Bluebell Lane. I absolutely loved how the entire family worked together for the Inn and how it brought them closer to each other. I could feel the snowflakes on my eyelashes as I walked through the winter wonderland. Hewitt describes all the sights, sounds and feels of Christmas so beautifully, that you actually feel like you are sitting in the cozy Inn. This festive story is an absolute must read this holiday season. Wow, just wow, there is so much to love about this story. This heart-warming book would make a great Christmas gift for yourself, family and friends. I loved everything about this book and I highly recommend it.
The second book in the Inn at Bluebell Lane, Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane by Kate Hewitt has the family facing financial problems, personal and relationship ones too. The Inn needs more money coming into the coffers for it to stay afloat. A special Christmas week experience for visitors seems to be the answer. Ellie takes charge with everyone lending a hand it.
The relationship between the characters is what makes this story interesting. I like the inn and what they are trying to do to save it, but it is all that goes on between the characters that keeps me reading. A romance seems to be dying, a new one perhaps starting, and teenagers going through all the challenges of life is an important focus with the future of the inn impacting the characters.
I must say the conclusion was not what I was expecting but was pleased by it nonetheless. Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane may not be your typical Hallmark Christmas story but it is an enjoyable realistic look at families, life and what is suppose to be the best time of the year.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane is a cosy festive story that is set in a picturesque Welsh village. This is the second book in the series and centers around Ellie and her family including her mother in law and sister in law coming together to save the inn from closing after being in financial trouble for two years. From baking pie in the kitchen, to decorating the rooms and turning the gardens into a winter wonderland, the entire household puts in efforts to make this Christmas a special one for their guests. But will it be enough to save the inn?
This is a beautifully written story that truly captures the essence of the holiday season. The relationships between the characters with their own personal struggles and their determination to overcome them is the highlight of this cosy, hopeful and heatwarming Christmas story. While the end was not what I was expecting, it was still a quick, entertaining read.
Thank you @bookouture for having me on the #booksontour and @netalley for providing me with a digital ARC to read and review. The book is out today.

A widowed mother, her married daughter, and her daughter-in-law all are facing changes and challenges in their lives as they approach the Christmas season. Add to this, that the Inn that the mother and her daughter-in-law are running in Wales is struggling, and they are praying that the Christmas season will put them in the black. But when a sudden snowstorm comes in shortly before Christmas will it put the end to the Inn on the top of all their other problems.

Ellie and her family have uprooted their lives in America to live in a picturesque Welsh village, where they have now resided for the past two years taking care of her husband’s family inn. After working hard to turn the inn around, Ellie thinks the inn has been on the up, until her sister-in-law breaks the news that the inn is facing significant financial trouble and will be forced to close its doors for good after Christmas if things don’t turn around. The one problem is, Christmas is only a few weeks away. It’s all hands on deck to devise and execute a plan to save the Inn on Bluebell Lane before it’s too late. Will their hard work and efforts be enough to save the Inn, or will it all be in vain as the Inn on Bluebell Lane sees its last Christmas?
This is the first book I have read by Kate Hewitt and although this book is the second in a series, I did not feel at a loss having not read the first, although it may have helped provide some additional background information! This novel provided the key details of what happened in the first book, allowing me to understand what was going on and connect with the characters in their struggles, although my connection to the characters may have been stronger having read the first. That being said, I felt the characters were well developed and written and I still felt myself connecting with them and empathizing with their very raw real-life struggles. I do feel that some plot points were left open, or only briefly touched on as if the author was trying to bring in too many different aspects of conflict without providing too many details. For example (spoiler) I was left a little confused why Nathan left and it felt very sudden without a lot of supporting reasons, which I suppose does happen in real life as well. In addition, the ending left me wanting more, as I was attached to the characters and want to know what happens, although I suppose this leaves it open for another book! Overall, I enjoyed this book as it emphasizes the importance of coming together as a family and resilience towards whatever life throws at you. This is the perfect, cozy heart-warming Christmas read that had me wishing I was reading it while watching the snowfall while staying at the Inn!
I read this book as an ARC and I want to thank NetGalley, Bookouture, and Kate Hewitt for allowing me to read Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane prior to its release in exchange for an honest review.
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane by Kate Hewitt is a well-written spirited pre-Christmas read that centres around a family dealing with many abrupt changes, traumas and trials. This novel covers various life stages with potential issues from the youngest child to the oldest grandparent. I was totally invested in each character and unable to put this book down!
The tone of this second offering of the Bluebell Lane series is a little sombre at times. It reflects on life’s unexpected curveballs. I felt sadness, frustration and concern for the characters as they dealt with numerous heartaches and setbacks. The topics are not light. For this story deals with some serious issues such as mid-life crises, marital dissatisfaction, self-harm, bullying, fear of new relationships, spousal grief and health issues— to name a few. But the positives are rekindling of love and rediscovering passions that include both personal and professional.
I loved reconnecting with the family members of Bluebell Lane. In the first book, Michael, Ellie and their children moved from United States to Wales. They have been there now for two years. A lot has happened in two years since Michael’s job redundancy. He came home to help his mother run the Inn. Although they have all managed the huge adjustments of moving across the sea from one country to another, and the Inn has survived under their care, things aren’t as great as they could be. The latest word from his sister Sarah, the accountant, is that the finances of the business are not good. They are barely getting by. If they wish to continue, they must find a solution.
Ellie decides to have a family meeting to put their heads together. They come up with a viable plan that involves keeping the Inn open over Christmas and offering some special holiday activities. Ellie has arranged for a publicity feature but the photographer and journalist will be arriving in two weeks. There’s a sense of panic to make it happen in time. They all must pitch in to create a mock up of a gorgeous festive setting: special family events, attractive trimmings and delicious Christmas foods.
They all work together for the Inn’s Christmas makeover and have a little extra help from an old friend of Gwen’s late husband. John is back visiting his daughter and waiting on the birth of his first grandchild. But in the mean-time he’s eager to get involved in a project. Using his landscape experience and woodcarving talents he adds some extra sparkle to the Inn. And while he’s there, a few subtle sparks ignite between Gwen and him as well. But are either of them ready to move on from their late partners? There is a gentle and suggestive nod to what might come in the future.
Although this story shows how trying to save the Inn brings the family together in unity for a while, there is trouble brewing underneath. There’s serious discord in Sarah and Nathan’s relationship and their children are having great difficulties, too. This part of the story was quite heartbreaking. As for Ellie and Michael, there’s an unexpected surprise that will alter their family. In fact, there will be lots of shifts in each household with jobs, schools, professions and even for the Inn. How will they all manage?
Even though other events occur that shake things up even more, Christmas and honesty are the magic ingredients that bring healing and happiness to them all. I enjoyed Kate Hewitt’s Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane and heartily recommend it. This is a great addition to the first novel and offers a positive open ending. Hopefully there are more stories coming from this interesting family! 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book Review: Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane by Kate Hewitt
⭐⭐/5 Stars
As the snowflakes dance in the air and the twinkling lights adorn the streets, Ellie eagerly anticipates the arrival of Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane. However, beneath the enchanting facade of holiday cheer lies a troubling truth - Ellie's beloved inn is on the brink of closure. In "Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane" by Kate Hewitt, readers embark on a journey filled with the magic of Christmas, but unfortunately, this festive tale fails to deliver on its promises.
One cannot help but notice the alluring cover of this book, which entices readers with a sense of warmth and holiday spirit. The picturesque setting of the Welsh village adds a touch of charm, providing a glimmer of hope for an engaging story. Regrettably, these elements are merely superficial, serving as the high points of an otherwise lackluster narrative.
From the start, it becomes evident that this book struggles to maintain its momentum. The plot feels stagnant and fails to captivate readers' attention. What should have been an exciting and heartwarming tale about saving a beloved inn turns into a tedious and uneventful journey. The pacing is sluggish, making it a challenging read that requires considerable effort to persevere through.
Character development is another significant letdown in "Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane." The cast of characters lacks depth and fails to evoke any emotional connection from readers. Ellie, the protagonist, is disappointingly one-dimensional, and her struggles to save the inn feel forced and lacking in authenticity. The supporting characters fall flat, failing to leave a lasting impression or contribute meaningfully to the overall story.
Despite these shortcomings, there are some redeeming qualities within this narrative. Hewitt skillfully captures the essence of a Welsh village during the holiday season, painting a vivid picture of a charming and idyllic setting. The author's attention to detail in describing the festive decorations and culinary delights adds a touch of warmth to an otherwise cold and lackluster story.
In conclusion, "Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane" by Kate Hewitt falls short of its potential. While the cover and setting initially hold promise, the book ultimately fails to deliver an engaging and heartwarming holiday tale. The lackluster plot, sluggish pacing, and underdeveloped characters make this book a tedious read that may leave readers feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. If you are seeking a truly enchanting Christmas story, it is best to look elsewhere.

As the snow begins to fall and the lights twinkle, Ellie realizes Christmas has finally come to the Inn on Bluebell Lane. But as she watches the guests arrive, she hopes this won’t be her family’s last winter in this magical place…
It’s been two years since Ellie and her family left their lives in America behind and moved to a small Welsh village to run her husband’s family inn. Having fought to save it from disrepair, Ellie is shocked when her sister-in-law, Sarah , breaks the news that the inn is facing financial trouble and might have to close after Christmas, a thought that breaks all their hearts.
Turning to her mother-in-law, Ellie sees tears sparkling in Gwen ’s eyes. But then Ellie has an a celebratory Christmas week for guests and locals with all the festive trimmings — an unforgettable experience, and her family’s last chance to save the inn.
With Christmas drawing closer, the family are busier than ever. Gwen bakes enough mince pies to feed the whole country, while Ellie adds mistletoe to every room, and her husband Matthew turns the garden into a winter wonderland.
But there are troubles ahead no one could expect. And as Bluebell Lane twinkles against the frost, Ellie marvels that the inn has never looked prettier. But will it be enough to save this beautiful place her family has grown to love?
My Opinion
I have read Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane as a standalone and it did not spoil my enjoyment. A quick, festive read with some great characters. A sweet, heart-warming novel.
In the previous book Ellie and Matthew and their two children left the US to come to Wales and help Matthew's mother Gwen run his family's inn. After some tensions Gwen and Ellie are getting on well, until Gwen's daughter Sarah informs them that the inn is running at a loss and unless they do something drastic they will have to close. Meanwhile Matthew has a secret.
Sarah has her own problems, her husband seems to be working longer and longer hours, he pays her and the children no attention and when she asks for his help, or asks him to call when he is going to be late he accuses her of nagging. Added to which her highly intelligent daughter is stressing about her GCSEs.
Finally, after being widowed for longer than she was married, Gwen has met up with an old friend of her husband's that she hasn't seen since her husband died. Newly retired and also widowed, he has moved to the area to be closer to his daughter who is expecting a baby.
Can Ellie, Gwen and Sarah find a new income stream to save the inn?
I'll be honest, this just didn't grab me and I have to say I didn't really see the point when I had finished it, unless of course there is a triumphant third book in the offing. Otherwise it was a bit ... so what? Also, all the male characters were not portrayed in a particularly positive way.
I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.
CHRISTMAS AT THE INN ON BLUEBELL LANE continues the saga of Ellie and her family, who had their lives uprooted two years ago when her husband Matthew (who is originally from Wales) lost his job and the family needed to move to Wales to stay with his mother. Book one covered the adjustment period as all the children struggled to fit in with new friends and schools and Ellie struggled to get along with new relatives she barely knew while trying to get an inn up and running. Now two years later, they are all settled in their lives, and Ellie has found purpose—except the inn is not getting as many bookings as they had hoped and unless something changes, will have to close. There are some other bumps along the road. Matthew gets a surprise job offer—back in New York. Sarah, Ellie’s sister in law, is struggling with her marriage and children, and Gwyn is struggling with personal issues as well. Ellie wants the inn to succeed and is putting all her efforts into making a huge Christmas event what saves them.
Here's what worked for me with this one and what didn’t… I love Kate Hewitt’s writing and I loved her characters and the interesting interpersonal drama the book showed. I absolutely loved book one and couldn’t wait to see what happened to the characters in book two. The family captivated me and made me want to read more and I was invested all the way from page one to the end.
What didn’t work for me so much is that compared to book one, this book had so many depressing storylines that didn’t resolve in a positive way... it felt like a really downer ending—especially for a series ending, and especially for a Christmas book. I wondered if the author had an additional book planned to resolve all those story lines, but nothing was mentioned and it just didn’t have the sort of happy holiday ending I was hoping for. 3.5/5 stars.
A lovely Christmas story involving a family run bed and breakfast thats doing its best to stay afloat. Who knew running an inn would be so cumbersome and stressful?! Ellie and Matthew and their four children have left Connecticut to live with Matthew’s mum in a small Welsh village. It’s been about two years since they’ve helped Gwen run the inn, a vision Gwen and her late husband started some twenty years ago.
Things are a bit strained financially, but Ellie has a plan to be open for Christmas week, when they’re usually closed. During the week, she plans fun activities for families to enjoy Christmas away from home, but with the comforts of home. The entire family, including Matthew’s sister, Nand her children, are involved in the Christmassy affair.
Life does not stop for the inn though. The older children are getting into mischief of their own at school. Two are studying for their GCSEs, one very intent on studying as much as she can during every waking moment and the other nonchalantly going through her day. The boys, however, just might be involved in bullying incidents at school.
There’s also the challenges couples experience throughout their lives. How their relationships change through the years and how having kids affects that dynamic. Do we appreciate our spouses enough? Do we express how much we respect them?
This story has offered many avenues to consider my own relationships with my husband and child. Am I making the right choices in how I respond to their needs? Do I love them as they need to be loved? I really appreciate how Matthew and Ellie are able to talk to one another and how they involve their children in their family decision making. Albeit my family is much smaller and our decisions don’t involve moving to another country across the pond, I do take to heart how they’re able to discuss what’s going on and how they each feel about the decisions.
Special thanks for Barbour Books and NetGalley for access to this title. I give this book 5 out of 5 tiaras! All comments are my own and I enjoy focusing on what I gather from the stories I read. I’ll admit though, Barbour Books is among my favorite publishers!
2.5 stars (Spoilers included if you haven't read the first book)
When I got "Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane" from Netgalley, I wasn't aware that it was part of a series and this was the second book so I went and read the first of the series before diving into this although, in my opinion, it's perfectly fine if you haven't (or won't ) read the first book as this one manages to stand on its own.
If you enjoy holiday tales with a touch of drama, you may enjoy this book. It touches on the intricacies of relationships, the process of dealing with loss and grief, and life's curveballs. And while I especially enjoyed Gwen's POVs, I just felt like the book could do with a bit more polishing and improvement on the storyline. I felt like it was lacking. For example, I feel like there wasn't enough backstory on Nathan and Sarah's relationship and their (or Nathan's) decision still left me with a question mark.
There were some inconsistencies as well (which I will write down as a spoiler at the end of this review) so it may be a bit confusing if you have read the first book.
SPOILER BELOW:
Inconsistencies:
In the first book, Gwen's diagnosis was stage 3 cancer, but in the 2nd book, she says it's stage 4 (although I'm not sure if cancer can progress to stage 4 during chemo).
Also in the epilogue of the first book, it says that Gwen "had lost her hair during chemo, and it had only just started to grow back into a gray fuzz", but in the 2nd book, it states that "she hadn't lost her hair when she'd had her chemo".
A beautiful and welcoming addition to Christmas joys this year. The Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane is about working together, accepting who others are and knowing they may not be the ones needing to change, but it may be ourselves. Change is inevitable, it's not always easy, but it's a guarantee it's going to happen. This glorious holiday read will open all your senses to festiveness of the season. I had a hard time putting this one down. Filled with all the holiday descriptions in this special little inn, the Inn on Bluebell Lane. I sure wish I could visit this small Welsh village. It may not have all the trappings of the big-name fancy places you could choose to stay but it would be my choice for a comfortable, cozy and down to earth sounding stay. The characters are relatable and sound so realistic, sure it sounds like some of them are not having an easy time of it, but I do believe in the miracle of Christmas. With the ending it makes me think there will be at least one more to round out this series and I'll be first in line to read it.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Ellie and Matthew Davis, along with their 4 children, moved to South Wales to help Matthew’s mother, Gwen, renovate the Bluebell Inn, a bed and breakfast. Ellie’s sister-in-law, Sarah, has been reviewing the books and has deduced that the B&B will be bankrupt in 6 months unless they can find a way to make more money.
Instead of closing the inn for the week of Christmas, Ellie thinks it would be great to open it for Christmas week and add all kinds of festive decorations, games, music, and food. So, all of the family members pitch in to help get it ready in time. But as the day arrives to welcome their guests, something else arrives and doesn’t stop coming.
The story shows readers a glimpse into each of the character’s lives and the trials and tribulations they are all facing. It’s all down to earth and not unlike all of us may have faced in life. This is what gives the story that touch of reality.
I enjoyed the story and was rooting for all of the characters. I think readers will find this a satisfying book to read to get them ready for the Christmas holidays. Enjoy!
Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I enjoyed the first book in this series so much and I couldn’t wait to get back to Bluebell Lane and it’s Christmas which is even better.
You can absolutely read this as standalone as the author recaps what happened in book 1 right away.
It’s two years after the family moved from a America to a little village in rural Wales, Ellie thought the Family Inn was doing well because it offered something unique but her accountant and sister in law Sarah says it’s running at huge loss and will have to close soon, what can they do to stop this happen happening?.
What follows is the perfect feel good Christmas read that’s filled to the brim with heartwarming family moments that will make your heart so full.
It also had a few unexpected twists that I didn’t see coming which surprised me a little but I liked how things worked out in the end actually and it even had a teeny little cliffhanger, so maybe we’ll get another book?.
I love spending time with this family. Their ups and downs. Their family togetherness and their independence.
Since I last left the family, they are still in Wales running the Bluebell Inn and things might not be as secure as they’d hope so they are back to trying to bolster the inn to be profitable.
While I’m not a mom dealing with everything on top of her kids, I can really relate to Ellie trying to rally the troops and bring perfection to her corner of the world.
And I know I keep saying I’m not ready for winter or Christmas, most of this book takes place leading up to the holiday and is about people and family. It’s such a nice break from my spooky reads.
I root for them all to succeed and can’t wait to read the next installment of this great series. This is definitely the heartwarming book to bring you into the Christmas season.
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane continues the story of the family Inn and the chance if the Inn does not start bringing in more money to save it. The hurdles the family must get over to save the inn seem to be more than anyone imagined. Ellie has an idea to save it, but everyone has to agree. The family works together, and all seems good until the weather turns bad and the guests can not get to the inn. It is not all lost when the family stays at the inn and discovers life will be ok for them. The changes coming are so well written by the author that I feel like I am right there with them. I adore the characters in this book. Thank you NetGalley, Kate Hewitt and Bookouture for the ARC of Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane. This is my personal review
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane by Kate Hewitt is a heartwarming holiday tale set in a charming Welsh village. Ellie and her family have left their American lives behind to run the family inn, facing financial troubles that threaten its closure after Christmas. Determined to save it, they embark on a festive journey to create an unforgettable Christmas week for guests and locals. While the book stands alone, it benefits from reading the series from the beginning. The story emphasizes the importance of family, community, and the resilience to face life's challenges, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a cozy and heartwarming holiday read that captures the essence of Christmas magic.
This is the first book I’ve read by Kate Hewitt, and although it’s the second in a series, the recap is comprehensive enough to understand who is who and what is what. However, maybe this has put me at a disadvantage as I didn’t get fully bought in to most of the characters (except for Gwen, who I’m absolutely rooting for). I loved the premise of this book, and the three different relationships that we peek into but the plot itself felt somewhat rushed and finished with an unsatisfying ending- I need to know what happens to all of these people after I’ve invested in them thus far (and even more, I need to know what Gwen replied!).
This is the second in the Bluebell Lane series, of which I'm yet to read the first. It did read as a standalone, but I think I'd like to start from the beginning for more context.
Christmas at the Inn on Bluebell Lane is a cosy, festive fiction read that's full of heart and a family coming together to save the inn they've strived to keep as part of the community.
Wales is beautiful and the perfect scenario for this gorgeous festive feast.
It's heartwarming, full of joy and festive spirit. The characters are real, their struggle relatable in this ever changing financial climate we're faced with.
