About the author

Kris Waldherr is an award-winning author and illustrator whose books for adults and children include Bad Princess, Doomed Queens, and The Book of Goddesses. The New Yorker praised Doomed Queens as “utterly satisfying” and “deliciously perverse.” The Book of Goddesses was a One Spirit/Book-of-the-Month Club’s Top Ten Most Popular Book. Very quick read with beautiful illustrations for autumn season.

The use of watercolor and gauche evoke a nostalgia for a simpler time when harvesting the garden was probably part of more people's lives. I think it is a perfect medium for the story and would highly recommended using this book for fall-themed storytimes as it is short and sweet.
