In the 1940s, Brian Lewis was called to war and his wife, Prudy, took over her husband’s job as a private investigator. Brian never returned.

Prudy wants Sandi Webster and Pete Goldberg to help her solve a 1943 murder, the case she couldn’t solve. It’s personal, and Prudy wants to be in the thick of things again.

After investigating, Sandi believes she knows who the killer is, but he’s dead. So who’s threatening her and Prudy? And who tried to poison Sandi’s half wolf/half Golden Retriever dog?

When Matthew was murdered in 1943, his killer was never found. Prudy’s husband Brian was the private investigator who continued on when the police had no further leads, but his investigation had stalled when he went to war. When Brian didn’t return, Prudy took over his business but again Matthew’s murder remained unsolved.

PI Sandi Webster was called by her mother to help her good friend Prudy investigate a cold case. Prudy was in her eighties but was still a sprightly, feisty woman and wanted to solve the long ago case in her husband’s memory. With the inclusion of Sandi’s partner Peter Goldberg, the team set to researching the old murder. Would they discover any new leads after such a long time? The sudden threats gave the team pause; it seemed there was someone out there from long ago who wanted the past to remain a secret…

Prudy’s Back by Marja McGraw is a cosy mystery which I quite enjoyed. The clues were easy to follow and I knew some of the answers before the investigators did! But it’s a fun series which I’ll continue. Recommended for cosy mystery fans!

I love the Sandi Webster series by Marja McGraw! The first two books, "A Well-Kept Family Secret" and "Bubba's Ghost," were fantastic and so was "Prudy's Back," the third novel in the series. Ms. McGraw has an extraordinary talent for creating wonderful, realistic characters and placing them in the middle of an intriguing mystery. And she does it all with an incredible sense of humor.
In "Prudy's Back," private investigator, Sandi Webster, is called upon to solve a murder that took place in the 1940s. At first, she's reluctant to take the case but she's soon drawn into the lives of the people who were involved back then and she is determined to do whatever it takes to discover the identity of the murderer, including putting her own life in jeopardy.
I highly recommend "Prudy's Back."

This one is going to make you laugh because Prudy is your favorite relative.

Marja McGraw gives us a memorable character in her usual style of humor filled mystery. Just re read and funnier third time around.

What a character McGraw has created in Prudy. A sleuth with an old fashioned approach to solving a mystery. Looking to read a good mystery with humor and romance this will more than fit your needs. Sandi Webster gives Prudy some well needed backup. One of my favorite series.
