I enjoyed this 2nd book in the series by Patrice Wilton!

Shane and Lauren are two people who put on a front that they are okay/happy and do their job seriously, but what they don't get is that they both deserve happiness and love! They deserve someone to protect, honor and love them for who they are.. and Handle them with care! ;)

We met Shane in the 1st book and I knew I would want to know more about him. His exterior can come across as sexy and confident, but on the indside he is scared and insecure. He thinks people judge him by his "disability" due to being in war. I'm glad to see his has cleaned up his act and is taking life seriously, maybe too seriously.
He meets the lovely Lauren and her son and things change. He forms a friendship with her son (it is sweet to watch) and the possessive side of him that comes out only for Lauren and he only has eyes for her! He likes her but thinks that she doesn't deserve a man like him, who would?

Lauren is mom and dad to her son since her husband's death. Things have been hard but she is managing. She doesn't need anyone in her life she only needs work and her son! Well, that is what she thought until she meets Shane. Even her son likes him and she is glad of the friendship that they have established. But, why trust yourself to fall in love when you don't need anyone, all you need is to only protect your son and only him.. no one else!?

These 2 lost souls are perfect for one another. They work perfectly in the hospital together, her son adores him, they make each other laugh and so much more... the question is can they face past demons and try to more forward or will the past win?

Handle with care is a sweet book! It showcases anxiety, pain, addiction, hope, redemption, trust,LOVE, friendships and so much more! Also, the ending was wonderful and yes I'll let you all know they get their HEA! :) :)

This 2nd book in the series was wonderful and am now eagerly awaiting book 3 and know it will be just as phenomenal as the first 2! :)

I borrowed Handle with Care from the Kindle Unlimited Program. Handle with Care is also the second book in the anthology Wounded Warriors ~ Three Book Set.

Shane Dawson, a wounded vet has returned home without his left hand and now has the latest state of art robotic replacement. He is clean and sober, has a job as an EMT and is taking pre med classes so he can get into a top med school. His goal is to become a doctor so he can help returning veterans.

Lauren Reynolds is an widowed ER doctor with a young son, Josh and he has ADHD, so she is very protective, as she works full-time and tries to be both mother and father to Josh.

Shane and the Hero Dog his is working to train have a collision with Josh at the part and from the first meeting sparks fly as Shane and Lauren and Josh get to know one another and they work to overcome all the baggage from her husband's death and his problems coming home to the United States after being held a prisoner and having the Taliban cut off his hand. Emotions run deep from a single mother wanting only to protect her young son, the romance is hot and filled with humor from Shane, who could laugh at himself. Lauren didn't always treat Shane fairly and Handle with Care, but in the end she figured out what was important. Josh add a special emotional level to make this a special romance for a deserving Veteran even when he doesn't think he deserves it. I enjoyed the problems and how they pulled together to solve them.

There were a lot of topics going on in this novel. ADHD, alcoholism, bullying, date rape, amputee, war, and a runaway were the topics covered. And with so much going on, it was difficult to become sympathetic to the characters, instead it was like how many other circumstances can we fit in this story.

A charming hero, but afflicted with so many issues… I still have doubts about the prosthetic dexterity, despite all the technology. I enjoyed the building up of the relationship between Shane, Lauren and Josh.

A Novel on how to deal with REAL LIFE SITUATIONS

Wonderful book!! This is one of the best books I have ever read. It deals with being a single mother after she loses her husband, how she copes with being an ER Doctor, raising a child that is ADHD & wrestling with the fact that he needs medication, bullying at school & having no friends, dating again & pressure from her son to get married, AA Alcoholics Anonymous meetings &'PTSD Effects her boyfriend, and several more emotional situations. I have faced several of these situations in my life and it was nice to know what other people do in these situation.

This book was terrific. How these guys who come back from war with the permanent injuries, that change ones whole life, is dealt with in a down to earth and informative way. The fact that it was a romance just made it even better for me. I went from tears to laughter and the characters rang true for me. The conflict both the hero and heroine face and still are able to find love, shows how strong human nature really can be in the face of adversity. I suggest this story to anyone who has a heart and cares about our wounded warriors. This is a must read...

I liked this book. My first by this author. I didn't know it was 2nd in a series. Really liked Shane and all that was going on in his troubled life. His story alone is worth reading. Very touching book.

Shane's story started in A Hero Lies Within, where the story of him living on the street and in his car is told. It also tells the story of his best friend's brother (Jake) searching for him. This books can be read without reading that book

I LOVED this book! a few ups and down that kept me interested. Widowed Doctor mom with a hyper active 6 year old and a recovering alcoholic war vet. Both very stubborn but they find their ways to work through things.

This book was great until the ending...1 mistake and Lauren walks away. Shane was awesome I loved him but Lauren gave zero support so she could hide behind “protecting” her son was over the top. That little man was a bit spoiled, he clearly states he tossed someones lunch in the trash and she didn't react? Your little man is the bully Lauren, wake up. His kicking and yelling at her was unacceptable and was a clear temper tantrum. IF he were 3 I may have ignored his behavior but he is 6...sorry just a pet peeve. Not to mention the child’s vocabulary and mannerisms were more of an older child not a 6 year old.

Shane feels like he is a screw up, as is the puppy that is tugging on the leash. The dog was to be trained to help the vets that came back from war.
At the beach so he would get use to people. A boy was weaving in and out of the crowd, and feel on the pavement, the mother behind, who was an E.R doctor had ?Shane call and ambulance. Taking the bikes to the hospital, and seeing them again, the boy asks if he could be his new daddy. They both are wounded, can love come and help heal, with the chances and dreams they have.

Good premise

I liked the premise but the female protagonist was judgmental and bossy. At one point in the story, I was really upset by her actions. Sometimes the dialogue was stilted and the writing was mediocre, but the chemistry was good, and the male protagonist was worth rooting for. Overall, a decent read that addresses worthwhile topics.

Many incorrect small details like Disney's Magic Kingdom being the place they visited for a day. No, you're in California, your choices are DisneyLAND or Disney's California Adventure.

Enjoyed the book but again I thought Lauren left something to be desired. She talks him into a relationship and then the first bad thing that happens she dumps him and messes up everyone's lives.
