Pros: I fully recommend this book! I will never look at south central Alaska the same way. After living in this area for 10 years I have accumulated many questions about the local area - how did it get this way? After reading this book I have a greater understanding of how Alaska came to be. Its changed a lot over the millennia and will continue to in to the future.

Cons: a bit dense at times, but my only background in geography is a single elective course in my undergrad. I had to do extra homework to fully appreciate some of the points the author was making.

Also - many typos. I usually overlook this but some of them were ridiculous. The worst offender being “as the jet stream ungulates” instead of undulates.
