This is great for someone just learning to sew. It starts with the basics - supplies, fabric choices, and techniques - and builds on that. I will rate the book after I've made a few of the projects
My daughter is getting an American Girl doll for Christmas this year, so when Erin Hentzel contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing her book, I jumped at the chance. The book is beautiful! It has 22 projects for American Girl dolls (or other 18" dolls) including things like a messenger bag, pajamas, and dresses. The projects are simple and easy enough for a beginning sewer to tackle. The instructions are easy to follow and there are clearly labeled patterns in the back of the book.
I'm so excited about this book! My daughter has started to show interest in sewing and crafts like this, so it's perfect for her. The projects are perfect for the target age group (8-12) and super cute, too. My daughter is going to have one well dressed doll!

Great book! The two patterns (shirt and skirt) that I made up worked beautifully, and the instructions are detailed and encouraging. This book would be perfect for beginning seamstresses and even children (perhaps about age ten?). The clothes are easy to get on and off the dolls, too. All in all, I would recommend this book and I'm looking forward to trying out some more projects from it.
I received a review copy of this book through Goodreads First Reads.
This is a wonderful book. I borrowed it from our library and used one pattern. It fit well and was easy to follow. Will borrow this book again to make more clothes. Love all the accessories included.
This book is exactly what I was looking for. My daughter and I are both learning to sew together and love looking for new project ideas. The format of the book is well-thought out and the directions are easy to follow. This would be an excellent book for anyone who wants to make clothes for their 18" doll (or, as my daughter pointed out, as gifts!).
