Martyn Hobbs has a degree in English Literature and the RSA Prep Cert TEFLA. He also taught in Italy and the UK for over 10 years, in a variety of business contexts, and then worked as a video script editor in ELT publishing for 10 years.

Apart from writing course books with his partner Julia Starr Keddle, he has written and developed many video projects, including New English File Intermediate, New Headway Intermediate, Spotlight 1–4 (Oxford University Press), Total English, Opportunities in Britain, Market Leader Intermediate (Pearson), and Inside Out (Macmillan).
