Still the most comprehensive reader available for courses in American government, The Enduring Debate provides breadth and balance in its ninety-four essays. The collection represents a unique blend of classic and contemporary selections of varying length from a variety of scholarly and popular sources. The Second Edition continues to feature a debate section in each chapter: two or more readings exploring different sides of an important issue. Issues tackled in the Second Edition include: free speech on the Internet, campaign finance reform, and the role of the government in the economy.
I really liked the insight into politics. I felt that it held a lot of information I didn't know and turn to be very much necessary to understanding the US government.
Absolutely intriguing; papers and letters from different politicians about the framing and interpretations of our political system and the ideas, misconceptions, and theories within. Definitely a must-read for ANYONE even remotely interested in the inner-workings of government.
For my edification... as the same blogs, read over and over, have done remarkably little to expand my political understanding over the last few years. Perhaps I am reading the wrong blogs...?
