AAAA GASALAH MILIH BUAT LANJUT BELI NOVELNYAAA KARENA SEBAGUS ITUUU. Bukunya seruuu bangett, sangat page turner. Setiap halamannya seru banget buat di baca, buat aku jadi bener² gabisa berhenti buat baca karena senagih itu buat terus lanjutin. Kalau aku lagi ga PTS bakal lebih cepet nyelesainnya.
Tema dalam bukunya juga unik dan buat penasaran buat di baca (kurator and football player trope!!). Pembahasan tentang sebuah lukisan punya raden salehnya SANGAT MENARIKKK, nambah pengetahuan bangett dan filosofi yg ada dalam gambarnya juga waw banget. Banyak pelajaran dan motivasi yg bisa di ambil. Selalu suka sama kata²nya.
I loveee the chemistry between Bea and Carter, their relationship really addictating. Perkembangan mereka buat saling mencintai itu sangat mengharukan huhu. The way carter really want to save Bea is touching me 😭. Pokoknya suka bangettt sama mereka.
Buku ini juga ada tentang keluarga, aku tersentuh banget sama gimana mereka siap siaga buat Bea. Karena aku juga ga begitu banyak kosa kata inggris, buku ini ngebuat aku jadi nambah kosa kata baru!.
Bukunya juga sedikit spicy, tpi cumaa dikitt doang.

Gaperlu diragukan lagi emang karyanya Cecillia Wang! Dari awal sebenernya udah sadar kalau kisah romansanya berawal dari benci jadi cinta. Nah tapi, yang bikin beda itu latar belakang tokohnya sama kompleksitas ceritanya. Karakter utama di novel ini, Bea dan Carter yang berprofesi sebagai asisten kurator dan pemain American football. Honestly, ini pertama kali aku baca cerita yang berbau seni. Aku jadi tau kalau lukisan Raden Saleh memang sefenomenal itu, lukisan kalau rusak ternyata bisa direstorasi, dan ternyata karya seni (lukisan) itu bisa mempererat hubungan kenegaraan. Keren!
Isu kesehatan mental juga diangkat di novel ini. Tokoh yang mengalami gangguan mental disini, yaitu Bea dan Vanessa, Ibu Carter dengan kondisi yang sama. Mereka menjadi korban kekerasan yang dilakukan oleh ayahnya sendiri. Kisah Bea diceritakan lebih mendetail daripada kisah Vanessa. Bea selama bertahun-tahun menjadi pelampiasan amarah ayahnya dan juga pikirannya yang berhasil dimanipulasi sehingga Bea menilai dirinya rendah dan tidak berharga.
Ketika antara Bea dan Carter sudah menunjukkan rasa cinta, justru mereka dapat mengontrol rasa cinta yang menggebu-gebu tersebut dengan sangat baik. Berkaitan dengan kondisi Bea yang baru saja ‘Bebas’, Carter memberikan ruang terlebih dahulu untuk Bea menemukan dirinya sendiri, memberikan kuasa bagi dirinya untuk dirinya sendiri, dan memiliki pilihan-pilihan yang selama ini tidak dimilikinya. Carter mendukung Bea untuk ‘Terbang bebas yang tinggi’ dan menjadikannya rumah untuk kembali. I’m so happy for both of you sampe nangis berkali-kali tau gaa!
Di novel ini juga menyinggung perihal relasi kekeluargaan. Pada kasus Lana yang mana kakak-kakaknya melakukan kekerasan kepada Bea sehingga tidak ragu bagi Lana untuk melaporkan ke polisi (walaupun kemudian urung karena Bea). Kemudian juga pada ayahnya Bea yang pada akhirnya masuk penjara karena terbukti melakukan kekerasan terhadap Bea. Jadi, walaupun keluarga memang tidak seharusnya untuk membenarkan sesuatu yang salah. Kemudian aku terharu banget dengan hubungan Bea dengan saudara-saudaranya yang hangat. Memang mereka sebenarnya sempat berpisah di jalannya masing-masing, namun karena kasus Bea dengan ayahnya yang membuat mereka kembali bersama dan memperbaiki hubungan untuk lebih baik dan hadir untuk satu sama lain. Heartwaming banget pokoknya walaupun watak mereka beda-beda, tapi itu yang bikin hangat.
Wahh experience baca novel ini seru banget, bener-bener berasa pengen buka lembaran-lembarannya terus, mulai dari nangis-nangis sampe ketawa ada di novel ini. Bagus bangeett pokoknyaaa, luvvv!

"Zero one! Sea me later!"
Fr I'll shout it for million times for the man named Friday Carter Elliot, the quarterback of Seattle Seahawks, if i were Bernadette because i'm so fuckin proud of him, so fuckin proud of my man for winning the superbowl for three times in a row. In 1973, Constance Carrol, cheered her husband by shouting, "One five! Sea me later!" before the match started and her husband won three times in a row when she said that. Since then, 'Sea Me Later' became a magical phrase to Seattle Seahawks members and their supporters will always shout the three words, most importantly sea me later said by their wives/girlfriends to improve their performances at the field. (It fed their ego, ya know)
For me this book has an interesting storyline, tentang Bea kurator museum Singapura dengan Carter quarterback Seattle Seahawks yang juga menjadi the last ancestry of the Prince Van Der Willem. Bea was trying to get the painting of Raden Saleh named Boschbrand that was lost and fell to the hand of Carter, but they trapped in a scandal that forced them to marry each other. Carter himself was in love with two women, and unfortunately Bea was in the middle of them.
Anyways, Carter and Bea here have the enemies to lovers trope and i enjoyed their bickering moments, tapi jujur aku juga gak nyangka aku bisa nangis pas baca ini because i experienced similar events like Bea felt. Vibes Carter kaya.. Golden Retriever man sedangkan Bea tuh kaya.. Black Cat woman, that's why i sometimes find them ridiculously cute to be together.

I swear getting through this book was so dreadful. Yes there was some cute moments, but i feel like the entire story line and plot of ts is so forced. the way cecillia writes the narrative is so cringey and whiny. shes trying so hard to be like those american or english authors with their spicy scenes and representation but in ended up being so repetitive and just overall ass. the way Bea's panic attacks are written feels so fake and it doesnt convey the intended narrative. the whole premise of the story is honestly good, but it lacks a certain "complexity." Like, i get it Bea was so determined to bring back that Raden Saleh painting but the hate she potrayed on Carter feels so forced- like okay hes a jerk tapi ky it doesnt instantly deem u guys as enemies like this book is trying to do. Enemies to lovers is such a good trope, but this book did not execute it well enough that it just falls as cringe and childish. I honestly had high hopes with this one but damn- i expected more than just a whole chapter of horny seggs- in indonesian if i may add...

i didn't see the chemistry between bea & carter
THAT much. it feels draggy like 60% of the book mostly talked about either their career or bea's family issues. i get the issue, but all the build up just for a mere resolution and don't even get me started on the love quadrangle trope that cecilia threw in the beginning. what'll happen to lana & cas? again, all that build up for their character but towards the end they suddenly disappear & i only got one page of their info dump. too many plots, minimal character development. also, the instant ‘switch’ from carter to suddenly being in love with bea was also weird and questionable. i get it that their enemies to lovers, but the 'to lovers' part should've been developed more and longer than the family issue subplot. too many plotholes in this book. SEA YOU LATER i guess... :/

I LOVEEE ITTTT <333 my first cecillia wang book and in desperate need of another!!!!! the first 100 pages were quiet a slow read for me, but for the rest???? PAGE TURNER! suddenly im up all night and i need to know what happen next T——T i love the enemies to lovers, like i can genuinely feel their banters, their hatred, and the slow burn :3 made me giggling and kicking my feet type of shit hehe but i noticed some plot holes that i wish get more explanation in the story… kayak ttg lana’s brothers including jj, and bea’s abusive dad yg kurang begitu dijelasin termasuk penyelesaian masalahnya yg menurutku terlalu…hah gt doang? tp overall a fun read! looking forward to read the other makna series <3

Enemies to lovers!!! 😍🤣🤏
Suka banget sama series ketiganya Makna ini. Tokoh ceritanya fresh dan seru. Ide ceritanya jg menarik tentang player football American dan kurator lukisan.
Awalnya ribut sampai denial perasaan masing-masing. Akhirnya malah menikah dan punya anak. Gemeeeez banget loh sama pasangan ini.
Beberapa cerita ada yang 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Sayangnya ga ada penanda 18+ deh agak mengkhawatirkan salah pembaca. Jadi, sebaiknya dibaca oleh pembaca dewasa saja ya.

what can i say? im a sucker for cecillia’s book since high school and this book has been sitting down on my shelf for too long until today, and guess what? she alwaysss deliver, period.
She might be my favorite Indonesian author, her writing style and THE PLOT?? the fact that i started this book in the afternoon and now writing this at 01:27 am, showed how much i love the plot.
Glad i read more of her books and cant wait for the others that have been sitting on my tbr shelf for so long❤️

CECE WITH HER ANOTHER MASTERPIECE AGAIN!
This book was totally breathtaking, from the story of Bea and Carter to the plot and many other things. This book hit perfectly the enemies-to-lovers trope between Bea and Carter, who get married by accident for the benefit of each other (at first, hehe).
Ofc the smut too (WhoOoaa) omg omg omg i could scream for that part!
I highly recommend this book for y'all! ><

ini buku pertamaku by Cecillia Wang and omg this exceeds my expectations!
i’m not really a fan of romance books (but i do read it times to times if i’m in mood for it), but this book is everything.
i love the romance so much that i give this book a 5 stars (note: i rarely give books 5 stars especially romance books)
it’s enemies to lovers that really screams ENEMIES-to-lovers, bukan yang pasaran dimana they secretly wanting each other, but eugh in the beginning they are really ENEMIES.
i love the plots, the characters, the chemistry, everything is just pleasurable for me. going to read other books by Cecillia Wang too <3!

Yes, ofc, Cecil will never dissapoint me.
Her (cecil) books were never be an ez pz romance novel. It will always have a complex plot (super complex, sometimes) . But, one thing that i know about her is, she will ensure that her readers remember every characters that she writes in her books.
First pages of the story was giving me headache. I try to deal with my emotions caused by the characters, (again, Cecil do know how to play with her readers)
but then, all of miscommunications, misunderstandings and the tangled strings starting to unravel halfway of the read. This story teach us how deep mental health can affect someone.
I like the storyline, i love the ending, i adore the characters ❤️
