Rate this book
"Forgive one another lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices." 2 Corinthians 2:11

Today's Christians are largely ignorant of Satan's evil. It's why multitudes of Christians are tormented with fears, bound by addictions and sins, and torn by relationship problems. But God has given you the ultimate victory.

In this life-changing book, John Osteen teaches you how to have power over the enemy when the Tempter comes, how Jesus dealt with temptation, how to engage in spiritual warfare, how to demonstrate Satan's defeat, how to live a life of victory, and so much more.

Using practical, biblical knowledge of what you have through the great redemption in Jesus Christ and all that God has provided for you in His Word, power will come. As you become knowledgeable about the true supernatural power of God, you will rise to victory in every area of your life.

In the area of spiritual warfare this is one bookend. The other is Joyce Meyer's Battlefield of the Mind.

Just a few years ago it would have been unfathomable that I would have read either. But through God's grace I am now receptive.

It's all about our thoughts. We have the power to look at the world through different lenses. Half full or half empty. Ultimately it is a choice. For far too long I looked at the glass as being completely empty. That too was a choice. Thus in this respect Dr. Osteen is saying the same thing as self help gurus
Tony Robbins, Napoleon Hill and many others have said.

But as a Christian pastor he goes a step further in suggesting that these thoughts are spiritual in nature. Again I would never have believed this just a few years ago. But I have come to believe and accept that we are, indeed, in a constant spiritual battle with forces beyond our comprehension. This book, though short, was packed with great information and suggestions on how to spiritually arm ourselves.

I think is one of Osteens' best books. It's a handbook for dealing with today's non-believers. I learned that I am not supposed to debate, argue or persuade a non-believer to believe in God. That's what the Bible is for. Joel also teaches us to protect our souls from the devil. How to use the Armour of God, which is the word of God through scripture. Satan is always at work and he will never stop praying on the weak and vulnerable. I liked the book a lot.

Wondering what a stronghold is? This is a good starter book and easy to follow and understand. I can spend an hour on one chapter studying the Bible verses and being in thought.
