Mahendravarman is one of the great kings of the Pallava Dynasty, father of Narasimhavarman who ruled southern India. He initiated the works in the great masterpiece port city Mamallapuram. This book is a historical venture in knowing about this great King. The author has gone through the historical scriptures, records and evidences about this great king who ruled southern India, about 1500 year back. The magnificence of this king still stands to this day in the form of temples, sculptures and carvings that stand to this day. Many temples in Kanchipuram were built by him

மயிலை சீனி. வேங்கடசாமி வரலாற்றாய்வு, இலக்கிய வரலாற்று ஆய்வு என்னும் இரு தளங்களில் செயல்பட்டவர். தமிழ், வடமொழி. ஆங்கிலம், திராவிட மொழிகளில் நன்கு தேர்ச்சி பெற்றவர். ஊர்தோறும் சென்று கல்வெட்டு ஆய்வினை மேற்கொண்டார். சுயமாகப் பயின்று கல்வெட்டுகளைப் படிக்கும் திறன் பெற்றார். கோலெழுத்து, கிரந்த எழுத்து, பல்லவர் எழுத்து, பிராமி எழுத்து எனப் பல்வகையான எழுத்து முறைகளை அறிந்தார்.பழைய ஏட்டுச் சுவடிகளை முறையாகப் படிக்கக் கற்றார். தொன்மையான சாசனங்களைச் சேகரித்தார்.

Excellent book about understanding the history about one of the great kings/emperors who ruled on this planet. King Mahendravarman was a pioneer in a lot of things from temple building, great sculptures, rock cut temples etc. He was a multi-faceted artist with proficiency in a many art forms. The author has taken the pains to research about the King and his works that still exist to this day. The author has also researched extensively in Tamil literature that references about this great King. A great read!
