A gripping page-turner and a deeply moving portrayal of a woman longing for freedom from her past.

I’m a curious cat and I’m fascinated by human behavior and what makes people tick.
I love fish-out-of-water stories of ordinary people in extraordinary situations, especially if those situations delve into the unexplained.
I love digging up nuggets of history—not the vast sweeping stories of events that changed the world, but the personal stories of people making their way through life while history happened around them.
Like many of my characters, I grew up in the north of England. Although my hometown of Sheffield is a big city, I fell head-over-heels in love with the surrounding countryside and spent most of my early years outdoors.
In school, I became my county’s orienteering champion, which means I was a whizz at navigating with a map and compass, and thrashing my way through mud and brambles.
These days, you’re more likely to find me riding my bike at the beach or running (slowly) the trails near my home in California.
I’ve always loved adventure. My first expedition happened when I was two years old and I escaped through a gap in the fence around my family’s house. Ever since, I’ve loved exploring, whether that means heading into the woods for a hike, traveling to new countries, learning a new skill, or escaping into a great book.
Some of my favorite adventures include hiking the Inca Trail in Peru, climbing a via ferrata in Italy, feeding a rhinoceros at the zoo, seeing elephants in the wild, performing in a play, teaching myself to play the bagpipes, learning to cook Indian food, canoeing down a river, and bicycling around Ireland.
Despite my love of adventure, most days you’ll find me in slippers, writing.
In my house, I am the fixer of all things broken and guardian of the bathtub spiders. I’m lucky enough to share my home with my lovely husband, and Felicity, my seriously over-indulged (and very curious) cat.

All Our Lies are True, is equal parts suspense as it is emotionally moving. Lisa Manterfield, did an incredible job weaving together a storyline that will have you thinking about it long after concluding.
I was completely and totally attached to Abby. She was real, multidimensional and you could feel what she was feeling the way Manterfield was able to describe everything so vividly.
This book screams bestseller, Kudos to Manterfield.

This is the first book I read from this author and I really enjoyed it ! Even if I did guess who the guilty was a few chapters before the reveal. Sometimes what it seems like isn't the reality. Some twists in there kept me on my toes. I really love how it ended for her.
This month, I found this book to be less engaging than others I've read. There were a few aspects that didn't quite resonate with me.
Firstly, the narrative felt a bit repetitive to me. It seemed like I was going in circles, without much happening until about 60% through the book. From the beginning up to that point, it focused on "her" talking about her family, who were acting suspiciously and keeping secrets from her.
Additionally, she wasn't my favorite character. I felt she didn't undergo much development by the end of the book, whereas I found her best friend Georgie more likable.
Secondly, the plot was quite predictable and didn't offer any surprising twists. Despite her being an unreliable narrator, my guesses were spot on, including the reasons behind them. I kept reading, hoping the author would surprise me, but there weren't any jaw-dropping revelations.
While this book might appeal to some, it wasn't quite my cup of tea. However, if you're new to the genre, you might find it enjoyable.
Overall, I did finish the book and appreciate the author's effort in crafting it. It's still a commendable achievement on her part.
i really liked all our lies are true, it kept me engaged and wanting more with the twists throughout the book. the author kept me guessing but gave just enough to want to keep going. you get to know each character in a slow burn but i think that made it more enjoyable.
A twisty tail of what’s true and what’s not. I suspected a lot while reading this one, even who the killer was, but the ending was still an incredible surprise!
Take it from a lucky person who got an advanced copy – All Our Lies Are True is a winner:
A tragic past A family in jeopardy Compelling, believable, relatable characters Moral dilemmas Buried secrets coming to light A loyal best friend A path to happiness interrupted, perhaps forever?
Lisa Manterfield is a master storyteller! I couldn’t put this book down, in fact I read it in one day. All Our Lies Are True is a moody, suspenseful mystery with a delicious amount of plot twists and fully formed interesting characters. Manterfield taps into the human needs to be safe, to be loved, to be connected, to do meaningful work, to have hope for a future. I was fully drawn into the main character, Abby Kirkpatrick, as she navigated her family’s crisis and the tangled relationships in her life. As a psychologist I was impressed by the way Manterfield captured the complicated nature of being human in each of the characters, and the way in which she showed how tragedy had an unavoidable ripple effect in all of their lives. As a fiction writer myself I am amazed by how the accumulating facts could fit one scenario and then, with a little twist, a completely different scenario. Mystery readers want to feel like we have all the information to solve the crime and at the same time we don’t want the answer to be too obvious, and Manterfield beautifully manages both. I was continually surprised and then realized all the information was there, she had so skillfully led me along. I couldn’t have predicted the ending (in fact, I was worried for Abby, I couldn’t see how it would all resolve) and yet it made perfect sense. All Our Lies Are True checks ALL the boxes for a very satisfying read.
An exceptionally good psychological thriller, well written, with so many twists and turns and a totally unexpected ending. This is the first novel I've read by this author and it certainly won't be my last!
This thriller drew me in with the cover. In All Our Lies are True we meet Abby who is now 22 years old. When she was six years old, her twin sister Cassie disappeared from their cabin and has been missing without a trace. That is until now when her body is found as a pile of bones at the lake where they were camping that Summer went missing. Abby can't quite remember what happened, just that after it happened. Her family stopped talking about Cassie and the family moved away to have a fresh start. Now the reporters are back around and focusing on Abby's Dad as the Killer. But Abby isn't quite convinced but she knows for certain her family has been keeping secrets and one of them, if not all knows exactly what happened that night Cassie vanished. Did one of them kill her? Was it her Dad when he found out that maybe Abby and Cassie weren't his children but Uncle Dave's - his brothers instead? Was it the older sister Libby who is a control freak, someone who steals passports of people who look similar to her or was it her mother who donated Cassie's things and tried to erase Cassie from their lives after she vanished? Or is it someone else entirely? All Our Lies Are True was a rollercoaster of emotions and lots of back and forth and trying to connect the dots and keep your head on straight as it made me the reader feel as if I was a ping-pong ball or pinball going from person to person. This book I found is aimed at Teens to New Adult as the plot and characters did seem younger than adults would enjoy. If you love Karen M. McManus and Riley Sager, then you will enjoy All Our Lies Are True by Lisa Manterfield this spooky October.
Thanks to Goodreads, the publisher, and author for the free copy of this book. I couldn't put it down once I started! So haunting and tragic. A really intriguing story. Well written characters. I deeply felt their emotions. I don't want to say too much and spoil the ending but it wasn't who I suspected the whole book. Definitely recommend:-) #steelrosepress, #lisamanterfield

“Weaving masterful suspense with heartfelt emotion, All Our Lies Are True is bound to keep you up all night!" ~Jennifer Lynn Alvarez, Author of Friends Like These
This is my second book in a row about a twinless twin, and I think the 3rd or 4th this year. These are hard reads for me as a mom of little twins. Abby lost her sister Cassie when they were six years old. Cassie disappeared one night when they were staying in a cabin at a resort. It is now 15 years later. Abby is trying to move out away from her parents and smothering oldest sister Right as she goes to tell her father that she is leaving for college there is a knock at the door. It is a detective and he thinks they have found her sister at the bottom of a lake. I love the setting of this book. The family lives in a home known as a "the haunted house". They moved there after their loss because the town turned their back on them during the investigation. The home is creepy and her dad has things hanging on all the walls and displayed all over like a museum.
Abby bestie Georgie convinces her to go back to the cabin to see if maybe she can remember anything. Georgie is pretty chill and Abby is a bunch of nerves. It felt real. The entire book just felt real. Like people blaming the parents because people need someone to blame when something bad happens. And this poor woman has been living in the shadow of her missing twin most of her life. She doesn't know how to be without that. I want more books like this. This is a five star book for sure.

All Our Lies are True by Lisa Manterfield was a good story and intriguing. I felt like I knew how this would all turn out, but there were good twists, and the story moved along and held my interest.

I like the line in the book when the main character says that in her parents' attempt to keep her safe, did that actually make her more afraid in life.
This was the first book I've read by this author. I liked how it ended. I would check out more books by this author.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC.
A powerful dramatic domestic mystery above how a family copes (or refuses to cope) when one of their twin daughters is taken from her tent during a family outing, never to be seen alive again.
This story does an excellent job of plot and storyline development, and it demonstrates how dramatically different everyone's "truth" can appear, with merely a shift in focus.
The first I have read from this author, if this intelligent well-thought out novel is a typical offering from her, it definitely won't be my last.
Great for Ruth Ware fans, and anyone who enjoys an excellent psychological thriller.
This is my first read by this author. It was a crazy mystery and I definitely recommend it.
Abby Kirkpatrick was just six years old when her twin sister, Cassie, vanished. After the press coverage and trial by the media, Abby’s family moved away to a rural home and never talked about the events.
Abby is ready to pursue a college degree in child psychology but will her overprotective parents be able to let her go?
When Cassie’s body is discovered in a lake near the spot where she vanished, police interrogate the family again. Abby is determined to find out what happened to her twin. What she reveals will change her and her family forever.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of All Our Lies are True by Lisa Manterfield that I read and reviewed. This book was not one that I fell in love with but I did not hate it either. It had some really crazy twist that you would find one of those afternoon TV that kind of threw me. Actually, the entire family in this book kind of threw me. I just did not like how umm shall we say how cold they were and also how stupid the police force was. Overall, this book was an okay read and I am giving All Our Lies are True three out of five stars because I just could not fall in love with the book book or the characters.

I felt this book was more suspense than a thriller. The story is told by Abby as a young adult. It flashes back to when she was 6 years old and her twin sister Cassie disappeared from a cabin that they were in with their parents and older sister.
There were plenty of twists and turns in the book that made you wonder who actually took Cassie and what happened all those years ago. There are plenty of family secrets that come out while Abby is trying to remember what happened all those years ago.
Very talented writing and definitely an author to watch.
Inside the damaged and fragile Kirkpatrick family, the tension slowly builds as Abby inches her way towards uncovering what really happened to her twin sister. With suspicion falling on several people, the family's grief is revisited and reawakened as we follow along with a satisfying amount of misdirection and a number of plot twists.
Especially thought-provoking about the true cost of keeping secrets, and whether you can ever hope to recover, when the truth finally comes out.
I really enjoyed this book and read it in one day. I was led totally up the garden path with who I thought the killer was - and that’s a nice thing to be surprised in the end. There were many twists and turns and a lot happening in a strange family who seem close, but have many secrets. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the ending though, I’ll have to sit with this for a bit longer before I decide, but I will definitely look for more books by this author.
A good story about a missing twin! I love stories about twins so the description of this book made me interested right away. This one kept me engaged and I kept getting more curious as I read on. I felt like some parts were a little predictable. The parts that were surprisingly though felt unfinished. I wanted to know more details!! It was a good read and will be checking out other books by this author soon!
A child goes missing and a family closes ranks among themselves and moves through life, until a body is discovered and brings up renewed police investigations about the night they went missing and what really happened. Giving this book 4 stars - rounded up from 3.5 - overall a solid read, there are a few things that I felt could have been more fully fleshed out, more background given in some areas. I thought I had an idea of what might have happened, the story did keep my attention.
ALL OUR LIVES ARE TRUE is a cozy-ish British Psychological Suspense Thriller. Notice I say "cozy-ish" to distinguish from the usual example of Cozy (British Cosy) Mystery. In other words, one starts out feeling relatively comfortable and relaxed (after all, the BIG CRIME is sixteen years in the past; that's more than a decade and a half). But by the end, the twists and convolutions have so multiplied I'm kind of surprised the protagonist's head didn't simply explode.
I love a good thriller. And Lisa Manterfield doesn't disappoint! Chock full of red herrings and unreliable narrators, this book will keep you guessing through the final pages. Masterfully told by a master of family dynamics, the story explores how trauma plays out in the mind of a child and the lives of an imperfect family. It's a universal story - for aren't all families flawed?
Definately a 5 star for this book - winner Wow I didn't expect that big twist! Gripping to say the least, and how many lies can one say over the years to cover up everything? This book certainly kept me wanting more and I was totally gobsmacked at end of the book Thank you to Netgalley and Xpresso book Tours
This offers so many twists and suspects that it will keep you guessing at every chapter. I loved the additional perspective of a person losing their twin as a child and how they managed to live through the experience. The characters are generally pretty horrible but I found that did not detract from how engaged I felt in the story. A genuine page turner!
It was a good story, kept me saying “just one more chapter”, a real page turner but I knew straightaway tat Abby killed her sister and her family was covering up the accident. I would have given this a 4 star if it wasn’t so obvious that she did it but I do recommend this book. It’s a really quick read, took me under 6 hours, and it was quite enjoyable.
