Walker's Run

Rate this book
Was a life dealing with the pressure of photographing an A-List crowd really what she wanted to be known for? Casey Maynard decided a trip home was called a camping trip into the wilds of North Western Montana. Growing up, she’d spent as much time in its vast wilderness as she had in her own home. The weekend trip with her father and brother fell through, but undeterred; she’d gone alone.

But Casey finds herself in the middle of a twenty year vendetta against her father for killing the Alpha of a pack of werewolves who hold a Sanctuary deep in the mountains of the Cabinets. In a battle for her life, Casey finds herself falling for the new Alpha of the pack while he shows her how to handle and communicate with her own wolf.

Upon discovering the wolf spirit who chose her was the Mother of all Weres…more treachery thrives. Finding love and true bonds that know no bounds, her life is turned upside down.

From a deep family secret to a two thousand year old murder, will Casey’s link with the Silver Wolf be enough to save them all?

Mel Favreaux

Mel Favreaux lives in Florida with her two, young monsters, who just love to keep her on her toes, driving her to both laughter and tears on a daily basis. Jumping genres is a pastime she thoroughly enjoys in both reading and writing. She suffers from Inappropriate Laughter Syndrome (IPPL) and has a dark sense of humor. Morbid fascinations with all kinds of music, swords, knives, dangerous wild animals (both exotic and domestic), and her passion for oddities help her to keep the creativity flowing. Luckily, select few friends and family completely understand her fascinations, though not all share them, but accept her for the weirdo they've all come to know and love.

There are certain characters you read about that stick with you long after the book is finished, characters you connect with on a deep and profound level. Where you come away from the story feeling very much as though your life won't ever be the same since getting to know them and their tale. I feel very much this way about Walker's Run. I especially loved Braedyn; the big, strong, sexy-as-sin Alpha who isn't afraid to show or tell his woman how he feels about her. Damn, but I'd kill for a Braedyn of my own! Casey was strong and opinionated. She had her own thoughts and ideas, and she wasn't afraid to change her mind or the direction of her life. When faced with a terrifying situation, she held herself with dignity and pride.

Mel Favreaux has introduced us to the main players in the game here, setting the stage for what I know will be an incredible series. I can't wait for the next book!

I recommend this book to whoever loves Paranormal Romances. This book will scoop you up into its world right from the beginning. I could not put my Nook when I got this book. Casey's and Braedyn's love will suck you in from the first moment you read on how they met and when they meet in person in the woods 20 years later. As you read this book, you will fall in love with all the characters. I believe that anyone and everyone will be able to relate to at least one of the characters in Walker's Run. While reading this book, I literally thought I was watching a movie in my head. The story line and plot flowed so well that by the time I was to the last page, I didn't realize that it was the END! Also, I loved reading about a new way on how werewolves were created. I have read many stories about who werewolves came to be with one the main myths of two brothers, one bit by vampire the other by werewolf, born from an immortal. Please read Mel's Walker's Run! You will not regret it!

Mel Favreaux is an amazing writer. I love reading what she has. Walker's Run is astonishing and awe-inspiring. Another reviewer said that the characters stay with you...It is true. I find myself thinking about them all day. The Alpha couple know what they want and go for it. Casey and Amber are a power team and nothing can stop them. Unlike Casey, Amber struggles with her feelings. (FOR GOOD REASONS) It is a good balance. When Casey's Brother and Father enter it makes the story fly. Enough can NOT be said about how much I love these people. ( this is not just a story for me )

I can NOT wait for book 2!

Mel writes with her soul.... That is why she is MY FAVORITE AUTHOR. You can feel the love and emotion in each character.
Thank you for writing!

I'll be honest-- I am not the best person to make commentary on the world of paranormal as there is so much out there for werewolves and the like. It's hard to tell the good-- from the bad-- from the humdrum.

Howl in Walker's Run by Mel Favreaux-- the author's latest work in the Sanctuary Series. Eureka, I was intrigued. Her main female lead is a refreshingly strong and independent woman. And I found myself really finding bits and pieces of myself in the character for she was so real and well created. The male lead was not over the top Oh-Please alpha but you had no problem realizing he truly was as these two met up. You can feel the chemistry with no doubts between the two.

The drama is very realistic and the flow of the story keeps you going along at a pace you forget you're reading, instead you're running right along with Walker's Run. I am new to Favreaux's writings. But I now consider myself a fan. And thank you for giving us something new and fresh in the genre. I look forward to reading more.

After reading many formulaic books in the genre, I was truly becoming a little disinterested until I came across Walker’s Run. I felt the heroine honestly engaging and the story as it began to unfold was captivating. It was reinvigorating to have such a strong female lead, not dependent on her male counterpart. The author gives enough subtle information without bombarding to create a wonderful image and intriguing interaction between the characters allowing you to connect the information without feeling it shoved at you. The story itself has many unique elements adding to its refreshing qualities. For the first time in a long time, I was very disappointed that the second book was still in the works and not ready for me to dive right into. I really look forward to following these compelling characters as their stories unfold and the series develops.

Absolutely LOVED this book! BUT! it has a cliff hanger & usually I save cliffys until the next book comes out! just not that patient of a person ((which is putting it mild)).

This book has so much to offer, I loved the characters so much & theres so much to offer in this new series, that waiting for us fans will be sheer torture to say the least.
This book if you haven't read it, make some time, its a smooth fun read & I love the authors twists & takes on the paranormal, so much fun!!! the hero & heroine were phenomenal not over the top at all just raur yummy! but that damn cliffy just made me wanna pace back & forth like a caged lion & take some chunks out of a few things LOL!!

This book was well thought and flowed well. It was funny how fate had put them together 20 years ago and the love that was felt. This book did have a 'cliffhanger' but not one of those.... It ended well but was a lead-in to the next book. This book is a keeper.

Please bear in mind my rating has a caveat which i will explain at the end of my review.
Heroine: very much my kind of heroine she was tough and new how to handle herself but didnt go over the top with and act TSTL or ignore/be a bitch to the hero because she was so strong.
Hero: very likable and sweet though not terribly memorable. for an alpha he was pretty tame. on the bright side it made him less high handed and obnoxious like many alphas are. on the down side he came off more as love sick puppy than alpha werewolf. i mean he couldnt even kill a wolf about to kill the supposed love of his life come on!
Romance: though i liked this couple and thought they had great chemistry i didnt believe they were in love. serious like sure...but they didnt really even know each other when they got into the i love yous. the romance just sort of skimmed the surface and didnt really delve into them as a couple very much. the couple was (were?) cute together but the romance was a bit boring. they just fell into i love yous and didnt really have any bumps along the road all the tension in the book came from the action type plotline.
Sex scenes: they were ok and well written but nothing id get excited about. more towards the nora roberts side of the raunchy scale than the laurell k hamilton side. not poorly written but a little on the tame side for someone who likes a little oomph from her sexy time scenes
Plot: very compelling though im hard pressed to say exactly why. most of the werewolf qualities were pretty standard (quicker healing, heightened senses, etc). The origin myth was pretty different though and was very interesting (and i rejoiced that the author explained her created world rather than just making us assume everything about it). The staid romance took up most of the book and it was slow reading but then the action packed parts happened so fast you barely got to enjoy them before it was over. The story though WAS intriguing enough to keep me reading despite the flaws im about to get depressed over again.
Writing: here's where the caveat comes in-I gave a low rating because of this section however the high praise of other reviewers and lack of mention about what I am about to rant over I wonder if maybe scribd had a really bad edition in which case my rating would be much higher. Ok that being said at the very least this edition (if all of them are the same then this book in general) should have NEVER seen the light of day. There were some awkward sentences or ones that made little sense or even some overly formal language. That i could get over i'd just subtract a star, move on, and hope that they did better next time. What i CANNOT abide was that an author published a book with this many misspellings. There are some homophones (i.e using fair when talking about a taxi fare, shear instead of sheer, or using you're when it shouldve been your). But the vast majority were just gross misspellings: preffered, occassion, cripled, coupe (as in coup, used 4 times by my count all spelled incorrectly), but i have to say the most cringeworthy was intricket. Dude...seriously it is NOT that difficult to use spellcheck and 98% of the mistakes wouldve been caught. If you're a bad speller ok fine but its not as if you dont have tools to ensure that what you are putting out is correct. With the number of mistakes in this book frankly i would have been PISSED and demanded a refund if I'd paid for this book rather than reading it on scribd because its trash as it stands and doesn't even deserve to be on the market. This sounds harsh and maybe it is like i said if it were just awkwardness or a stylistic thing id just rate lower and move on but ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PRESS F7 to fix your mistakes!!!! do it!!!! seriously if you are an author and you want to be taken seriously you cant publish something like this...its baaaaad. That being said I don't think she's a bad author (and maybe it was just this edition being like an ARC or something?) and i hate to be so negative but it had to be said. If she had just corrected these issues I probably wouldve given a 3.5/4 star review but because the errors were so obvious and rampant but so easily fixed I just can't rate any higher despite my enjoyment of the book.
Bottom line: mostly enjoyable read. moving beyond my cringes every time i hit a misspelling i really liked the plot though i wouldve like a more thrilling romance. i will try to read the next one because im desperate to read amber's story and see what happens to the cliffhanger ending but there are two issues that worry me. First the spelling...i dont think i can make it through another book so poorly edited i just cant do it. Second if that book picks up right where this one left off we've missed a whole chunk of Amber's romance and that would annoy me almost as much as the poor editing. Guess we'll just have to see!

This was hard for me to rate. The story was engaging, with an interesting myth about the Were race, but flashes of great story were often mixed with dialogue I found immature (especially considering the ages of the characters). A good read with a surprising complexity to the plot, but this is balanced by too much characters explanation, which readers could catch on to without all the rambling. It's worth the time, but I put it down to read other books in between, which is unusual.

A bit disappointing. The story begun with some promises even though the fact that a lone woman going on a hike alone and being attacked by a werewolf is not that original. But the setting around seemed interesting enough. However, the book didn't bring any surprises or any challenging events. It ended up pretty boring, specially in the end and sadly didn't made me feel like reading a sequel.
