J.P. Mercer, a native of Big Sky Country, now lives in the Sonoran desert in southwestern Arizona. J.P. traded in her skis and snow chains for eternal sunny days and the Valley of The Sun. “The first living thing that graced my doorstep when I arrived in Arizona was a Gecko and it has been my good luck charm ever since.” J.P.’s interests are as diverse as the ever-changing landscape of the beautiful Sonoran desert. “I believe in friendship, the kind that nurtures and transcends all other frail human emotions. I believe in living each day to the fullest and opening one’s heart and mind to the incredible goodness and beauty of all people regardless.” (from the publisher's website)
Great fiction! intriguing, adventurous and good characters that every1 will fall in love with, plus it involve a solid mystery along with a nice romantic story...highly recommend to all
At first I did not like the book. To be honest I almost gave up reading it, and for me that is rare. The first three chapters was all "tell" and no "show". To see it so blatant like that, the writing style really jarred me. Then I finally realized the author was using the first three chapters to set up the main characters history. Mercer, was "telling" us Liberty's past and that was why the writing was so odd. Once the fourth chapter started the writing flowed and the story quickly became a page turner. I ended up really enjoying the story and would recommend it to anyone that likes a romance/thriller.
Difficult to write a review without giving too much away but the reason I have given this book 5 stars is because I can't give it 6! Liberty Starr - 'Ghost' a 'Talon'... so what's to like about this book: # Remarkable work of fiction, a real Page Turner. # One of the best fictional female protagonist I have read in a long time / Agent Starr would give Bond something to think about. # Hot... no not hot you know more like HOT! # High powered and high profiled supporting characters. # Special agents fight against terrorism and corruption the two most evil influences the world faces today. # Betrayal and Honor lines become blurred and that defining moment when an agent must face the last stand. # Penance and Love... where to go who to turn to. There can only be one place no government will keep a promise beyond what is best for it citizens... but a family will move heaven and earth to heal one of their own... and family comes in many forms for a lonely Starr! # Kayla an amazing character that added so much credence to this story. The interaction between Kayla and Liberty Starr I could read a thousand times and still want more... so moving! This book would make an excellent film and the timing now would be perfect... the female president is a must have! I recommend this book by JP Mercer Talon it's a winner.
If you read this JP... I would have put my house on knowing who the assassin was but I got it wrong, or rather... you got it spectacularly right!
I think the premise was interesting. It definitively was different from other romances and had the potential to be a wonderful adventure story. But the pages just didnt bring the story to life. It lacked development. Further, the romance wasn't very romantic. I wanted much more.
