This Blood Drinkers short story is a prelude to the Space Marine Battles novel Death of Integrity, with the story revolving around how the Blood Drinkers discovered the location space hulk where that novel is set. The plot sees the Blood Drinkers come to the aid of a planet in the grips of a Genestealer Cult rebellion and is pretty standard for a story staring Successors of the Blood Angels: kill the enemy and complete the mission while fighting the effects of the Red Thirst and the Black Rage. The action in the story is entertaining and I felt the depiction of the Flaw in the lineage of Sanguinius very well. The setting of the story is also quite interesting. The actual Rite of the story’s title is only hinted at, but it is handled relatively well.

Short-story to support 'Death of Integrity.' Kind of superfluous but perfectly decent. I like when they show some of the diversity of warhammer universe planets.
