Elise Michaels' motto has always been: no guts, no glory. She is a thrill seeker, continually craving excitement and adventure. The idea of being tied down to a place or man never interested her, even though a betrothal spell was cast linking her and the Head of Council’s son when they were mere infants.

Being a distant third in succession to assume the Head Mistress role, she felt confident that her secret would remain in her past along with Coven life. Unfortunately, nothing in our fun loving heroine’s future is anything she or anyone from the supernatural realm is prepared for.

Now, she’s forced to return to the place and the Sorcerer she so desperately sought to forget.

Elise has no idea the power and gifts that await her. Can she let go of her own desires and embrace her new role? Or will she surrender to the faceless evil coming for them all?

Book one in the tantalizing Elise Michaels Series a spinoff of The Nephilim Warrior Series.

Elise is one of my Favorite characters from the Nephilim - Warrior Series. Elise is always has a quick wit.
In Coven the First of her very Own series. Things Get shoved on to her, and she pulls up her big girl undies, and marches on. She now has to be The Head Mistress of Her Coven, A far cry from Her adventures with Anna. Though Don’t Let that fool you, Elise’s adventures in Coven are fun and exciting. The rest of the characters just as awesome.

I love how Elise just freaks and strides with it all. I honestly Couldn’t Put this down. K.A. Young has yet to disappoint me with her world or worlds. I will be sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next one to come out. Cause honestly We all need more Elise Michaels In our lives.

That is all you will Get from me, Cause If I go on, I will spoil the whole book for you. So Go and grab your copy, and Enjoy the Ride!

Lots of potential but it's a spinoff series - I was left feeling like I was missing a lot of back detail that was important

While I found this book to be enjoyable for the most part, it was a total clusterf_ck. It was all over the place. It seemed as if the writer but too much emphasis on making Elise come across as a bad_ss, but I just read absolutely nothing proving she was tough, strong, or even the determined type. It lacked character depth.

That being said, it did flow well. I kept reading waiting to see what craziness would happen next. It was constant, but overall, little changed. I think you could probably skip this book, jump onto to book 2 and miss out on very little.

When starting this book, I noticed it was book 1 in the series, but I failed to note it was spinoff from another series, so perhaps had I read original series, this would have been a 5 star read for me like it was to so many others. Just for me personally, jumping into this book left much to be desired. I will not be continuing this series, or recommending this to others. But for a freebie, it wasn’t bad.

I really liked this book, I loved the main characters.... I read this on my Kindle; I had gotten a number of Kate Young's books, first in the series. Turns out the follow up to this series, as well as the rest of the series are not available on Amazon and I can't find them anywhere. So I'm kind of disappointed that I liked this book since I won't be able to continue the story. I'm not going to read the others, either, because I'd probably love them as well, and to not be able to continue the story kills me.

I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Coven is a spinoff from the Nephilim Warrior Series, but can be read as a standalone book. Elise Michaels is an energetic young woman full of magic and empowerment. Years ago Elise left her magical Coven, leaving her family, school mates and friends to experience the outside world. But when her Aunt and Head Mistress of her Coven is killed, Elise is called back to return as Head Mistress. She returns with Van, her warrior protector and currently her boyfriend with no strings attached. Elise returns to the Head Sorcerer, Garrett, who is more than thrilled to have her back. Years before Elise and Garrett were bonded and now under a betrothal spell. Both Van and Garrett are gorgeous, will Elise be able to choose the life she wants or the life she is destined for, all the while trying to battle evil with both men at her side.
This book was a fun paranormal read, with just the right amount of suspense, magic, and steamy romance. Toss in some magic, vampires, and werewolves and what does this remind you of? Think of it as a more adult form of Harry Potter where Harry and Hermione finally get it on! I enjoyed Elise’s character, her humor, quick wit, and independence, made her a force to be reckoned with. I enjoyed the triangle forming between Elise, Garrett, and Van, just the right amount of angst to get you to choose a side. I know whose side I am on!
This is the first book in the Elise Michaels series, so be forewarned this is a cliff hanger with no HEA. This book is geared for anyone 18 and over that enjoys a paranormal mystery with a bit of romance. I will be adding K.A. Young to my Goodreads so I can grab the next book in the series!

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review:

I am a huge fan of the Nephilim Warrior series and I so wanted to love this spin off. I don't hate it, but I was not as excited as I wanted to be after I finished it.
I understand that this is the first book in the series, but I felt like there was too much going on and that nothing was resolved. I would have liked to have had closure on at least one thing before three more were added. I know you want to keep readers excited and wanting more but I am not going to remember what all was going on - it was just too much.
I would have also liked a little more story about Elise and Garrett. I found myself wondering more and more about him throughout the book. I am sure there could have been some great back stories. I guess I just felt like he needed a little more love (other than what he got in the tower - WOW-ZER!).
I am looking forward to the next book - hopefully it will give some closure to a few things and expand on Mona as well.

I just love K.A. Young's books. I was thrilled to get the chance to read this as I've followed the Nephilim Warrior Series religiously. I've really enjoyed seeing things from a different character's perspective here, I always enjoy any further chances to experience a new character involved within the original series, when it's a series I thoroughly enjoyed.

I'd definitely recommend my friends to read this book, but I'd say read the others first, it introduces you to most of the characters that way, plus, you'll enjoy them.

K.A. Young's books should most definitely not be missed by anyone. I can't really describe how much I enjoy this author's work. I just loose myself in her books, I become completely immersed in the stories.

Thanks for another great book! Roll on the next one!

Wow! I understand this is a spinoff of the Nephilim series by this author, but a reviewer on amazon said you didn't need to have previously read those to enjoy this book. That reviewer was correct! This was a freebie download and I really enjoyed every minute of it. Plenty of action, dramatic tension, humor, great characters, and the story had me immersed from the get go.

I am adding the Nephilim series to my wishlist as I would love to read those now, as well as anything else from this author.

I highly enjoyed it despite not yet reading the rest of the original series thats this is based from. It was entertaning and definitely a good book to read. I like it when I cant see where an author is going to take a story. Predictibility is boring. My apologies my spelling is not the best.

Definitely interesting

I really enjoyed this book. It drew me right into Elise s world and kept me there. I can certainly understand her feelings about the betrothal bond. And the wolf aspect is certainly a change for her world.

This is a spin-off from the Nephilim Warrior series and what a great start to a new series. Elise is a great character and she doesn’t change in this book. The book starts with her being told that her aunt has been murdered and she has to take over as the Head Mistress of her coven, something that she is loath to do. As it is her duty however, she says her goodbyes to Anna and Eli, the Nephilim Queen and King, packs her bags and heads back to her coven with Van her on again/off again boyfriend as her bodyguard. She will also help investigate what happened to her aunt. Whilst many of the Mistresses of the coven (it’s like a boarding school for sorceress’ in training) are not happy to see her return, Elise is more concerned about the reception she will receive from her fiancé Garratt. Yes that’s right….. her fiancé! It’s revealed that their parents cast a betrothal spell on the two of them when they were babies and Elise has rebelled against it ever since she was a teen. Elise wants to fall madly in love with a man of her choice/true mate rather than be coerced by a spell. Garratt, on the other hand, has always loved Elise meaning that he and Van instantly become arch enemies..... This author definitely likes her love triangles!

After the coven is attacked by dark magic, the coven council decide that the only way to keep the coven safe is to disperse everyone by sending them to live with secret families in the human realm. Elise, Garratt, Van and Kara (another Mistress and childhood friend of Elise) are relocating to Atlanta to continue their investigation of who is behind the murder of Elise’ aunt and the attack on the coven and on their last day at there, Elise discovers that Mona, a young and powerful sorceress in the making, was forgotten about and no arrangements have been made for her. As time is of the essence, Elise decides that she will live with them in Atlanta and that she will home school her. Eli has made all the arrangements and as well as her small entourage from the coven, she has a werewolf bodyguard from the local pack, Enrique and a team of covert warriors. They discover that a local group H.A.S.A. is aware of the existence of supernaturals and intends on exposing them to the human realm. H.A.S.A. are also responsible for her aunt’s murder and have declared war on the supernatural realm. Before they can locate the group however, a TV news broadcast shows footage of a dead werewolf boy. The day after the news broadcast, Elise and her team go to the scene where the dead werewolf was discovered to look for clues. Whilst casting a spell to put her in touch with nature, something goes wrong and Elise finds herself joined with Enrique’s wolf! Garratt works through the night to find the spell to reverse her joining with Enrique but it has unexpected consequences..... not only does it separate her from Enrique's wolf and shockingly break the betrothal spell but it also leaves Elise with a special gift from her dead mother! The biggest surprise however, is when a 2nd TV broadcast brings back an unexpected character from the Nephilim Warrior series and it’s game on for the suspense! I honestly have no idea where the 2nd book will take us but I'm absolutely loving the series so far!

Loved this one, wonderful start to a new series by KA Young. I have been riding along side of KA Young since her first book came out. All of them have been wonderful and just keep getting better. This one was no exception, her writing has improved so much it is such a joy to to see and read.

This is a spin-off series to the Nephilim Warrior series. Elise is a witch and turned her back on part of her duties to follow her paring to Anna The last women of the Nephilim Warriors. She only returns to the Coven due to a tragedy that requires her to do so. Bonded/betrothed to the only male witch, that she grew up with. She didn't want to return, cause she doesn't trust what the bond has done to her feelings. She wants to fall in love and not be forced into feelings that may not be hers.

There is wat brewing among some humans and the Sups. Elise has been pulled smack into the middle of it, and must be protected in every way. She along side a warrior, a werewolf, some vamps and some of her own kind, set out to find the team of humans that plan on brings havoc to the world by showing everyone what is really out there and what should be done to rid the world of them.

THis was a very exciting book. I had a hard time putting it down and enjoyed every minute of it. From the struggle that Elise has with her feeling of 2 men in her life to the up and coming battle they have to prepare for.

While nothing was exactly cleared up in this book, it sets the stage of what is to come in the next book. It has also left some things unanswered. While it doesn't end on a cliff hanger, it surely leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for the next installment to this great series.

thanks again to KA Young for putting out another wonderful read.

When I picked up this book I did not realize it was a spin off series to another and if I had known my review and rating probably would of different but I found my self at such odds with the main female lead I doubt it would of. So I found this book to be such a assemblage of different characters it was so fast and confusing and seemed in my opinion rushed and choppy. Following a very introvert, female lead, it was all about her, never about the bigger picture or well being of others. Though that does change as the book progresses I didn't particularly read any amazing qualities that drew her as a strong female leader. She tended to do things spontaneously and admitted to blunder a lot, which I have nothing against I just didn't find her to be strong even though she was portrayed a lot in the book of how strong she was magically. She was a huge tease with lots of undisclosed relationships with men. The male leads I found to be infuriating with their constant territorial attitudes and double sword standards. Their constant pissing contests I found to be annoying and not in the least attractive, as a reader you do choose your favorite which I must confess I have. Unfortunately I found myself personally to annoyed with the whole lot so I won't be continuing this particular series.

I absolutely loved loved loved this book. Watching Elise come back and come into her own, and also do whatever it takes while apologizing for nothing and kicking butt, was awesome. I enjoyed seeing a powerful woman taking control, but not just that. She learned that sometimes, when you find someone you can depend on, it is ok to lean into them every once in a while. Even though it didn't really work out for her and Van, at least she understood going in he was a Mr. Right Now, and she never expected him to be Mr. Right. When she finally figured things out for herself, she was able to let go of control long enough to let someone balance her out, but she never lost herself. I think the life lessons in this book, although it's meant to be entertaining, are very important. I love when a book gives me something deeper to look at, as this one did. I will be on the lookout for more of this series. Bravo!

I have read the Nephilim Warriors series that this book is a spin off from, and although it was lovely being reminded of the characters I already know, I believe this could easily be read without feeling like you have missed out if you haven't read the other series. That said....if you haven't read them, you should, not out of necessity, but because they are awesome! This book is equally as good, and I was so thoroughly into it that when I read the last page I was shocked, talk about a cliff hanger!!! It's a brilliant story about a Witch who has to keep her coven alive, and by doing so, help to save the world from a faction that wants to 'out' the supernatural to the human world, make them all out to be evil, and have them all killed. There is excitement, sadness, romance and action galore in this book and I can't wait for the next one to be released.

I loved this book I really enjoyed this it keep me interested. I didn't read the first series but I knew there had to be some before but it still stood on its own. I love that it keep me wondering what was gonna happen next it went at a good pace. I didn't even realize I was almost at the end but I went and got the next book and the first series. I love how all the supernatural are working together and it keeps you guessing. I love the way Elsie is with Mona and how all she wants is to give her a family I really want her with Garret but she is such a independent woman and wants to find love because she truly loves them not because of a spell or any other supernatural pull. I'm really looking forward to see what happens next. It's been a while since a book has grabbed my attention like this one has.

I got this book when K.A. Young had them free thru Amazon & Barnes&Noble. I haven't been disappointed yet by any of her books. I love her worlds! I love how Coven takes you futher into her warrior series... Ok so Elise Michaels left her coven years ago, left her friends, family and Garrett who was cast to be her mate. Now her Aunt/Head Mistress has been killed and Elise is now in charge of the coven and is now Head Mistress and has to go back to protect the coven. She goes back with Van her warrior her boyfriend with no strings. Elise gets in allot of heated situations with Garrett & Van. This story had me hooked from page one till the end. If you love vampires, werewolves, magic and romance with humor and suspense check this book out you will love it!

I have one word that officially comes to mind to describe what I just read...phenomenal! Like a good full-bodied red wine Ms. Young's writing just keeps getting better and better. I had the pleasure of being introduced to Elise during the Nephilim Warrior Series and absolutely loved her. Now to see her in her true element of sorcery has been an extraordinary experience. Keep up the great work Ms. Young! I have officially been hooked to the series and look forward to continuing with Elise on her journey!CovenK.A. Young

The book Coven expands the storyline started in K.A. Young's Prophecy of a Female Warrior and Destiny of Female Warrior. Elise is the central character of this book and it expands on the Elise character we've come to know in the female warrior series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.. Especially as it expanded on a very colorful character. The book is about a witch named Elise and her coven. While Elise carries some of the same characteristics you've come to expect in a witch character I really enjoyed the spin K.A. Young put on her with character. It made the book a very entertaining read from beginning to end. I can't wait for the next book in the Elise series in addition to seeing her appearances the female warrior series.

I received this book as an ARC for a review.

Coven is the beginning of a new series by K.A. Young. The book is about choices: letting go of the pasty or hoping for a better future, good vs evil, love or tradition. Elsie has turned her back on her old life, but circumstances and death of family members force her to return to the past she had rejected. The men in her life are hot and so sexy. The story is well written, moves smoothly and quickly. The action is exciting, leaves you on the edge of you seat and you can't turn the pages fast enough. A great beginning to the new series!

Something between Harry Potter (the details about the witches are devine) and Vampire Academy but don't get this wrong. It is not similar with any of these books. When I say something between Harry potter and Vampire Academy I mean that like Harry Potter's world the Coven's world is something new. These witches and wizards have the evil ones hunting them, wipping some of them out, and they too have a whole not very new though "race" to protect them.

I totally adored it. And the ending was a kick ass ending!!!

Ugh! I love this book! Love that there is a mix of supernaturals and they all play big parts! Elise is a smart ass and I adore her for it! Strong female leads make or break a book for me! I don't wanna read a book where she's wallowing in her own self pity the entire book!
Garret is just adorable and pretty kick butt! He's just strong and sexy and I want him! :P
Van makes me angry. He's sweet, but I wanna kill him sometimes.
And Enrique brings such fun at the end of the book! Yumm! I adore werewolves! :)
Great book! Highly recommend!

Coven is book #1 in The Elise Michaels Series and is a spin off from The Nephilim Warrior Series. It can be read as a standalone book but I would suggest reading The Nephilim Warrior series first to get a better background of the characters and the story world these books are set in. Elise is a strong character and I really enjoyed getting to know her better in this book. Another excellent book from author K.A. Young.

*I was given an ARC in return for an honest review* At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book because I haven't read very many books in this genre. I have to say I was very surprised at how much I did like it. It was very well written and had me not wanting to put it down until the very end. I will definately read more books by K A Young. She did a fantastic job. I loved it.

Even though it was very short, this book did not really engage or hold my interest. It was all too easy to set it aside, even on a car trip. I understand that this is a spin-off of a series I have not read, so that could very easily be a large part of the problem. Most of the book seemed like back-story and set-up, which are important, but then it ended just as it was getting really interesting.

Great start to a great series

I just recently picked up this book. It's been on my recommendations for a while. This is my first book from this author. It is a spin off of another series but I don't think you need to read it. This book does start off slow but it seems like it will be a great series.
