Mel was accustomed to dealing with the Supernatural. Her job was to reap lost souls and get them into the tunnel where they belonged. There was very little that could surprise her anymore. She'd seen everything from your basic lost soul to reanimated corpses, and she'd reaped them all, but even she was shocked when her front door blew in, raining debris and one angel named Remiel, down on her.
Remiel was the Light at the end of the tunnel and the one that had given her the ability to crossover wayward spirits...and now he needed her help. Seven souls have escaped and fallen from the tunnel; seven evil, twisted Dark Souls. Remiel needed her help to recollect the seven fallen souls and return them to the tunnel before they can wreak havoc on the Earth. It was going to dangerous and the chances of Remiel or Mel surviving were slim.
Mel wasn't thrilled with the assignment, but it was either help Remiel or watch her world become the top floor of Hell. Was she strong enough to reap the darkest, most evil souls to ever exist? Unfortunately, she was about to find out.

*I received a free copy of this book from the author through Paranormal and Horror Lovers in exchange for an honest review*
Mel is forced to take on a job with The Light where he kills seven dark souls that escaped from him which Mel will then reap for him. The fate of the world is as stake and Mel has no choice but to take on this dangerous mission. A road trip with a cold and grumpy Angel is not her idea of a fun time.
I enjoyed book 2 in this series as much as I enjoyed book 1, which is always a relief. The plot is quite different from The Reaper Within, giving another fresh twist to the series. The danger is higher, the plot moves faster and new characters are introduced to the mix. Yet the book still retains the good elements that I liked so much-the humour, the action, good tight plot, excellent writing and fun characters. We still have the soul reaping and paranormal elements but it is done in a different way for this book, which shows that the author wants to entertain the reader with something different each time, and not just churn out the same thing each time. The plot itself was well written and keeps you interested the whole time. There are no boring parts and the writing style of the author is uncomplicated which lets the story flow along.
The new characters of Gabriel and Michael were a good addition to this story. Gabriel was witty and amusing and I loved the 'wing groping' incident which really made me laugh. Michael's big entrance to the story was also very funny. Angels obviously aren't as perfect as we think! It was also good that the characters I liked from the first book were here as well. Betty is just really funny and her obsession with angels leads to some very funny moments in this book.
Again, I can't really say that there was anything about the book that I didn't like. I read the entire book in one night as it is slightly shorter than my normal reads. I felt though that this was just the right length for the book. Fans of urban fantasy and paranormal books should enjoy this book which again I very much recommend. I look forward to reading more about Mel and the gang in the future.
I had a hard time getting past the typos. It kept changing my focus from reading a story to just reading words on a page. The characters seemed 1 dimensional and only acted the way the script was written.
I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.
Firstly I would like to thank Stephanie Jackson, author of The Reaper Within (Dark Rain) for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book.
Well, it can't get any more scarier. In the first book we got a good dose of spooky and horror scenes and let me tell you that this book will blow you away and oh yeah, add to it the entry of an angel! Yup, you heard it right, guys and he needs Mel's help in returning seven evil souls back to the tunnel from where they escaped. This time the danger levels will rise and Mel will again be challenged. Will she succeed in sending the most dangerous souls of all times back to where they belong or will this known world turn into a living hell.
This book is so extraordinary that I really gripped my reader firmly till the end and tried hard not to drop it when I got spooked all of a sudden, yes folks the suspense is really eerie and you'll have to keep a watch on your reader that you don't drop and break it because most of the time my hand flew to my mouth in utter shock and horror. Beware!
The writing style is awesome as always and Stephanie fans will know it that she uses her magic to make the story entirely believable and will get you connected to the story and the plot in no time.
Mel developed a lot in this book and we get to see the true spirit of her in this book where she will go beyond limits to save the world and help the angel who gave her these awesome powers. Will they succeed together? Want to know? Then don't waste time and go grab your copy ASAP. You won't regret it I promise.
Killer suspense, heart-stopping horror, remarkable spirit and courage, breath-taking action, pack all of this within the pages of a book and you get this story. Happy reading folks!
And ANOTHER good one by this author! I received this book for an honest review, and again....I would have GLADLY bought it!
I loved Mel, Jack, Betty and yes...Remiel. While I wasn't sure that I would actually conceive that Mel was The Reaper at first, I soon became to believe.
It starts out where Remiel (The Light that you follow when you die) comes and gets his Reaper Mel due to the fact that he messed up and allowed 7 deadly souls to escape from a locked room by his tunnel. They go on a journey to recover these souls, and it is hilarious!!!! I LOVE it that she takes no crap from him or any OTHER Angel she comes across, even the Archangel Gabriel or Michael that I met in When Angels Fall.
Again, I would recommend this series to my friends, as it's gooooood!!!!!
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This a continuation of The Reaper Within and this story picks up immediately after the first one. Again, we follow Reaper, Mel Chaser in her quest to cross-over souls. In this story, we meet ‘the Light’. Mel teams up with an angel to rid the world of seven dark souls that have come to bring about the reign of evil. We spend more time with Mel’s business partner, Betty, and her husband, Jack. We even meet a few Archangels! Again, Ms. Jackson wove an interesting tale, including more descriptions within the text. I enjoyed this book as much as the first. All in all, a great read. I look forward to the next one!
