40 years ago the world ended. Today in the newly formed town of Locusville, life is going back to normal.

After the End is a post-POST apocalyptic zombie story.
It's not as serious as it sounds, but, there are scientists, religious zealots, law lackeys, radio jockeys, fashion gurus, homeless drug addicts, government officials, and a regular old family in the mix.

I am a storyteller - do not believe a word I say.

If you're going to believe me, remember, it's all just a part of the story.

This is the best zombie novel I've read... It's a story about how the apocalypse changed human society, and the way we think. Then, when the zombies go away, how we want things to be normal again. (What a big mistake!) A great story... not just humans evolve, but all creatures, even the evil ones... zombies included.

The story is certainly unique. In the beginning, the characters are enthralling. The author does an excellent job in allowing the reader to create the new post-apocalyptic world in their mind just through the words and actions of the few characters. The realism of it is scathing - in a world where death rules, no character, no matter how beloved, is ever safe. No one will ever make the perfect choices. There is no magic. It's a story about people, and their internal struggles, and their long lives condensed into points that shape them until they're gone. I re-iterate - this is NOT a zombie novel. This is a novel about humans who live in a zombie's world.

While I devoured the book in two days, I am disappointed by the later 3rd of the book. NO SPOILERS I PROMISE! But I felt the characters lost their depth, their drive, their connection to the reader as the author continued on. The book lost steam. The ending was unbearably disappointing, to the point that I can't confidently recommend it to anyone. I do, I really do hope the author revises this wonderful storyline and fleshes out all the bits and pieces that make it such a promising novel, and leaves an ending that is much less eye-rolling.

I found the story is very well paced, its fast in the beginning where rebuilding carries hope and while the story unfolds the pace lessens as does the hope and strength of the characters. The different person perspective allows you to really judge the characters in the book and reason out the choices made. The simplicity in the way it unfolds the flaw in humans; even after undergoing traumatic experiences, ambition and greed are still traits we hold on to. Even with all the gloominess the story has a light humor to it. The book really makes one wonder what evils would you have to keep and which ones you would forgo in case of such a situation.

I cannot wait for the sequel of this book to come out.

FINISHED!!!! I made it!! When I started this book I really liked it. Think the first half of the book is a neat play on the whole zombie story, but then so many different ideas erupted and story changed so many times with out much connection. We spend soooooooooo much time in Locusville only to have no connection in the later stories. Then when things do settle down and one of our main characters is finding a life and love it gets drastically twisted and wrapped up in 5 quick pages. I think this book was on the right track, but it just tried to achieve WAY to much to fast. I would love to see this book broken down. Perhaps make a series out of the different stories of the characters.

Spelling, typos and grammar issues are also a problem in this book.
