Haley Grace has suffered from unexplained nightmares since she was a small child. Given a special pendant by her late grandmother, the dreadful dreams eventually go away and she is able to move on with her life.
Now seventeen, Haley is betrayed in the most scandalous fashion imaginable. Heartbroken, Haley packs her bags and flees across the country to be with her father.
While on flight to her destination, she meets an attractive guy that instantly catches her eye. But after what happened to her, Haley can’t begin to think about another guy - even if he’s hot as hell.
As her dreams begin to come back with a vengeance and strange things begin to happen all around her, Haley will find herself fighting a battle on all fronts as she becomes aware of supernatural powers she may possess.
I am very much impressed by Ms. Snow's debut as an author. I was given her book in exchange for an honest review and I can say two thumbs up!
Without revealing too much, I felt that most characters were well developed given the short screen time some of them had. In the beginning, the story starts off with the protagonist angry as hell, but you soon find out why she's angry and I felt myself actually feeling the hurt she felt at being betrayed and was just as confused as to what was happening.
Surprisingly, somewhere in her ordeal, pov is switched to another character. Like the protagonist, I quickly grew to liking this character, but then began to dread what was going to happen to her. I liked her so much; I'd prefer she had not been touched.
One of the main points I liked about the story was the back story that was introduced involving the supernatural factions. I thought that was pretty interesting, and I could easily see the whole book being written on this subject.
But my favorite character was Ben. I really want to see what happens to him and what secret he is hiding.
I would Highly recommend this book to mature teenage girls, to young adult women and guys who like these type of stories. I liked it enough to give it four stars, though it's not what I usually read.
Omg! I <3 the book! I found myself falling in love with Haley and hoping her and Kyle got back together, but I guess I won't get to see that until the next book. I don't want to say what happens to not spoil anything, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Jessica please finish book two quick. You have a new fan in me!
I just finished reading the book Torn by Jessica Snow and loved it. I felt for Haley and wanted so much for things to go in her favor from the beginning. I can't wait for book two to come out to follow Haley's travels in life. Although I want her to get what she wants I also look forward to all of the conflicts she will have. Great story.
I loved this book and can't wait to see what happens next. I'd have to say Ben is my favorite character and I want to know if he'll find out about what happened to his sis. That was really sad. Hurry up with the sequel!
I loved this book. Storyline was unique and the characters had depth for a YA novel. The humor had me cracking up completely. If you are looking for a more grown up Twilight, try this book.
