A mafia romantic comedy, set in the fictional town of Racine, British Columbia. (Pronounced "Ruh-seen, in true Canadian fashion)
Evelyn is convinced her luck is finally turning when she finds an apartment complex with crazy-low rent, despite the ample security the building has been beefed up with. Hopefully now's her chance to start over, without her ex constantly on her tail and ruining her life.
One little hiccup, though? Her unfairly attractive neighbour seems entirely displeased to be sharing a floor with her. She only hopes her grandmother's recipe of chocolate chunk cookies will be enough to win him over and make across the hall from him not so tense.
Carter has worked hard to make sure the apartment he chose for his personal haven in the territory his mother, the Head of the Dolan Syndicate, granted him years ago is set up exactly how he likes. He has full control over who moves in, their security measures, even who can visit and who's blacklisted So when the landlord approves a woman he's never met before to move in without asking him first, Carter is furious, and despite the landlord insisting they at least give her until spring, is determined to run her off.
However, spring is months away, and the cookies she's brought him as a greeting gift smell really good...
How is this book not more populair, i really don’t understand.
This book was amazing! I enjoyed this book so much, much more then i expected. I really didn't know what i expected since the book had absolutely no reviews when i bought it. And i guess im the first. Its a funny romcom mafia romance. Its really got everything, nice storyline, enough smut, action, cute/adorable stuff, amazing dog side character and a morally grey man. What more do you want ?
Evelyn was amazing as was Carter. I loved how nervous Evelyn was in the beginning and how much she grew as a character in the book.
Carter was an adorable mobster who was scary with work, with an addiction to Evelyn’s cooking. Its was also adorable he let 1 of his neighbor's a little girl of 5 put in hair-clips, let her paint his nails. And put a earring on. He also asked Evelyn for help when he got hurt. Or when he came over for dinner and brought a treat for the dog.
I also loved how carter killed 2 men who assaulted Evelyn Some of the scenes had me giggling like braking on a motorcycle so Evelyn would fall against him because she didn't want to hold onto him. It was so funny how carter teased a man he was killing with a cookie. This book has so many fun jokes in it like how carter come into her home and asked if he was invited to eat or be eaten (by the dog)
Evelyn was also smart enough to figure out on her own that he was a mobster and wasn't a naïve girl. She was funny, smart and cheerful. She also kicked the sh*t out of her abusive ex boyfriend and dragged him by his feet to the elevator.
The dog was a fun addition. There is also a “who did this” part in the book
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

There are not enough words to describe how much I love this book!! It is hands-down one of the top 5 best books I've read all year. It's a Mafia RomCom about Evie and Carter. He's the reclusive youngest son of the Dolan Mafia Syndicate. She's his sweet and sexy new neighbor, who's cookies make him feral. Soon he's falling for her against his will, and she's stitching him back together emotionally AND physically 😂 It's so absolutely perfect!! Action-packed, protective morally grey MMC, slow burn, Sweet but also strong sassy FMC, quirky neighbors, SPICE, and a crazy HEA!! 😍❤️
This is the cutest Mafia book I have read in a long time. The MMC is a giant cinnamon roll when it comes to the FMC. But mess with her, and all bets are off! I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
I laughed so hard at some of the scenes. I'm talking laugh out loud, scare my kids, kind of laughing. One of my favorite reads this year. It was a 5 out of 5 stars for me before I even finished it.
