After Ace fails to clean the sensors, he disappears over a hill and out of sight, leaving chaos and confusion in his wake. Nothing could have prepared him for what he found on the other side.
The Watcher is a startling account of what happens when boundaries are crossed, when taboos are broken, and when two silos are thrown into the toxic winds of change.
Is there truly no hope? Find out in this final volume of the "Silo Submerged" saga, which began with the Wool inspired novella, The Runner.
My name is Wes Davies and I write under the name WJ Davies.
I currently have three novellas set in the Silo universe available entitled The Runner, The Diver, and The Watcher. These works are inspired by Hugh Howey's bestselling WOOL series and, unbelievably, have sold over 15,000 copies since January '13.
Living in Toronto, I work for a computer software company and write in my spare time, always dreaming up the next story idea while I write my current one. I take a lot of time to edit and was lucky enough to find an amazing group of beta readers who constantly keep me on my toes.
My all original work is a novel called Binary Cycle, the first part of which is available in the kindle store. This is the story that got me into writing, and I can't wait to release the next two installments. Look for Binary Cycle: Revelations in October.
I read a lot of Sci-Fi and am amazed at the quality work other authors are putting out there right now. Some recent favourites include The Martian, Voyage, Greatfall, and Atopia Chronicles.
This is truly an exciting time to be a writer or a reader. As long as we strive to produce our best quality work, the rising tide will lift all ships. I try to release a new work every 6-8 weeks, so come join the fun. Keep in touch on twitter @wjdaviesauthor or visit my website.
This was a fast and compulsive read for me. WJ Davies had me hooked with his characters and storyline. I had to know what happened and how it all ended for the people in these silos. Even if you are not usually a 'sci-fi' fan I honestly think everyone should give WOOL by Hugh Howey and then The Runner, The Diver and The Watcher by WJ Davies a chance. I think you'll be just as hooked as I was. These authors write of world I cannot comprehend as somewhere I could exist. They make you think and reflect and appreciate all we have in this wondrous world. PIck up the first book and give it a read. You won't be sorry. Thanks Frank for the recommendation! Now get reading Davie's silo stories. Let me know what you think! I'm picking WOOL for my bookclub choice for 2014. This way all those ladies will be hooked and end up reading all 8 books like me!
I really enjoyed this trilogy. So well-written and great character development. I truly felt like I was there (but glad I wasn't). I'll be "watching" for lots of success in your future. Congratulations, Wes!
Another amazing Silo story from W J Davies. Very much true to the spirit of Hugh Howey's Wool series. I found it fascinating and exciting and the end was brilliant!
I did enjoy this final installment of the series but sadly not as much as the other two. For one, I didn't feel like the title of this segment really had enough to do with the book, it wasn't really about the Watcher character at all. Ultimately, I liked the first half of the story better than the second half. I felt like it was more in depth and interesting and I really enjoyed the talk of how the other Silo came to its current situation. I also appreciated the fact that the author addressed the ramifications of Ace running away instead of cleaning and what it did to his silo. I guess the hardest part for me was the HEA. I'm not usually one for those and I completely anticipated something more dark so I was slightly let down.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this series and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Hugh Howey's world of Wool.
I really couldn't stand the second book in this series but I felt compelled to complete it. I can't say it was worth it. The first book was a really interesting and well written book. Everything after that never lived up to the standards and themes of The Runner. I do not recommend Books 2 and 3.
An enjoyable and most satisfactory ending to this great trilogy of facnfic singles, would recommend to anyone who loved the original Wool books. No, they aren't quite as brilliant as Howey's books, but they explore a really interesting aspect of that world...one I wish I'd thought of writing about myself!
The Watcher is a worthy conclusion to the series beginning with The Diver and The Runner. The series is an excellent companion to the silo series that have its beginning in Wool. If you're a silo fan, you won't be disappointed.
An excellent addition to the Wool collection of stories. WJ Davies' story both kept with the original concept of Wool but broke some fresh territory in the The Runner, The Diver and The Watcher. I would strongly recommend her books to any fan of the Wool series.
A very good entry in the Silo Saga. Davies brings trilogy to a close. The characterization of Ace (the Diver that opens the series) is well done. Looking forward to more Wool from Davies.
Solid conclusion to this 'Wool' inspired series. Very pleased with the last chapter...thought for a moment it was going to go in a different direction., glad W.J. Davies ended it the way he did!
So many twists and turns, but they all seemingly make sense. I throughly enjoyed this series, both as a nod to the original silo stories by Hugh Howey, and as it’s own series. Great read!
