Heartbreak Ranch by Anastasia Ryan

JaneHuntWriterFirstSteps

Heartbreak Ranch is a poignant story about intense young lovers and their conflict ridden emotional journey to happiness.

Graysen is unusually innocent for a twenty year old woman. When she inadvertently spies on Colt the ranch owner's adoptive son schooling a young stallion she is shocked by her appreciation of his masculine beauty and forced onto an emotional roller-coaster.

Colt is the archetypical hot cowboy with a melting soft centre. Lust at first sight Colt is tempted by Graysen's natural beauty but unaccustomed to the protective feelings she engenders.

The sexual tension between Graysen and Colt sizzles from their first encounter. Passion overrides caution and explodes into sensual love scenes which educate emotionally naive Graysen. Page turning emotional fall-out occurs as reality intrudes on their rose-coloured world.

The story sensitively portrays their youthful expectations. The ending reflects the intense passion of young love and what it can achieve.
A great debut novel.

Okay first off I have to say that I love me some cowboys and holy mother lover I would love to be broken in by Colt McCord because LORDY LORDY he is all that and a bag of horse manure!

Graysen is not excited about going to a ranch for a family vacation for two weeks. She rather be doing something else but she never goes back on her word and this is what her family wants so she is willing to give it to them. What Gray never imagined was when she got to the ranch she would meet Colt McCord and boy oh boy does he summer two week out look change with one look at the crazy sexy horse trainer. I mean he is a gentlemen in every way but with his southern charm and southern hospitality he is the complete package.

But Gray will have to get rid of some of her baggage and learn to let go and let Colt in. First things first she will have to deal with her family being all in her business and very protective of her and sometimes it is just over protection and it drives her mad. Then she has someone who wants her and she just wants to be friends but dam that boy he just doesn't get it and he pursues her like a horse in heat! If those weren't enough she has to deal with her broken heart and learning to let go to let love in.

Will Gray be able to let go and give Colt a chance or will she run for the hills and not look back? Leaving love is easier said than done so why does she feel like she can't breath without Colt? Can Colt do the ultimate and break through the walls of Gray's heart and win the girl?

Only 7 chapters and no Epilogue? I'd say I'm hoping for the next book if it wasn't for the fact the last chapter ends with, "The End"?
It was an okay story but I was expecting more. Too short to get a real sense of the story or the characters.

Instead, she was forced to go to some-ranch with her family and siblings before they all start to part ways. Her parents wanted them to bond, and spend time together – how is she to get out of it? She was looking forward for two weeks of boredom – until she caught a glimpse of one hot cowboy – Colt McCord.

Colt McCord is one hot cowboy. Who doesn’t want their own cowboys???! He’s the head horse trainer, and he’s the best in taming difficult horses, he loves his getting his hands dirty and hard labor. But the first time he saw her - he was attracted to her.

The total contradiction of Graysen. She was through and through a city girl, who doesn’t know how to ride horses or doing much labor. Her family treats like she’s sixteen rather than twenty, some jerk wants to get into her pants, and of course, there’s the what-happens-after-the-vacation-is-over-anxiety.

While she tried to fight the attraction off, he wanted to pursue her. Two weeks is a short time, if he wanted to act, he’s got to make his move now. Colt may have been the best in town when it comes to breaking horses, but can he break Graysen’s barriers?

I had fun watching the two of them get together, Graysen learning how to ride, and finally admit that there is something between them. It started with the sneaking around until finally Graysen had enough courage to stand on her feet, and yes, acted like a responsible 20-year old adult. It was not out of disrespect, or to spite her parents for letting forcing her to go with them, but it was to show them that she was capable of making her own decisions, she was standing by it and is willing to suffer the consequence (if it has any). I think this was the most beautiful part of the novel (plus all those steamy, hot scenes that will make you wish for your very own cowboy). It was a short, sweet read – sorta breather after all those emotional turmoil I have been through with my past reads. If you want something light, romantic, and sexy – you have to read this one!

Colt I loved him, "don't drop the reins next time, Iowa," he said as he handed Grayson her hat, the corner of his mouth edging upward into a wry smile." I just loved how he talked, "twenty? Lordy, why, you're just a baby." He has a possessiveness about him, "I am going to make you mine before you leave. I am going to make love to you. Not just because I want you, but because if I don't both of us will regret it for the rest of our lives." When I picture a cowboy or rancher I picture Colt, "darlin', I know," he said softly. "I've been sitting in the next stall over; I heard every word you said." Grayson hods a possessive gene for Colt as well, "oh yes I can! And he's not just some rancher, he's mine. My ranch hand..." Hopefully the author decides to write stories about the other characters in the book.

Graysen Beaufort wasn´t happy about the two weeks family vacation at a ranch.

Colt McCord is a hot cowboy who is a head horse trainer at White Pine Ranch.

The attraction, the passion between them is powerful, intense. They can´t stop thinking about each other.

Sometimes the best things happen when we least expect them. And that was what happen to Graysen. Even though she didn´t know that at the beginning, but at the end Colt was the best thing that happened to her.

A book that captured me attention from the first page until the last.

Amazing debut novel from Anastasia Ryan. Anastasia is an author that we should keep our eyes on. Looking forward to read more from Anastasia.

Heartbreak Ranch was a breath of fresh air for me. Graysen and Colt have this firework kind of relationship. It explodes before either of them are ready to deal with the outcome. They're caught in the moment and boy are they in that moment. Hot scenes with even hotter endings. The magical passion and heartfelt emotion had me cheering them on. Happy ending or not, I wanted these two together page after page. This is the first book I've read by Anastasia Ryan. Her writing is beautiful and strong. I believe writing New Adult comes natural for her and I love that! I can't wait to read more of her books.

A very interesting story that captures your interest from the beginning.
Colt was the ultimate, sensitive cowboy.
The writing was smooth, plus the descriptions really made you feel that you
where there at the ranch.
I hope she continues the story.

Heartbreak Ranch by Anastasia Ryan is an emotional roller coaster of a novel that will leave you feeling both satisfied and wanting more. The story follows Graysen as she navigates her way through a conflict-ridden journey to happiness.

The book is full of heart-wrenching moments, as well as moments of joy and hope. Graysen's character is incredibly relatable and her struggles are easy to connect with. Anastasia Ryan does an excellent job of creating a believable world for the characters to inhabit, making it easy for readers to become invested in the story.

The romance between Graysen and her lover is passionate and intense, but also realistic in its portrayal of the ups and downs that come with any relationship. The story has plenty of twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the very end.

Overall, Heartbreak Ranch by Anastasia Ryan is an engaging read that will leave you wanting more. It's a great choice for anyone looking for an emotionally charged romance novel with plenty of surprises along the way. Highly recommended!

I'll admit I do not usually read contemporary books. Especially contemporary romance books. But there was just something about this book -aside from the lovely cover- that captured my interest.

I cannot describe it, but there is something that I find fascinating about Cowboys, and Westerns in general, for that matter. So a ranch sounded like a pretty fun setting. The story follows Graysen and her family's vacation to what feels like the middle of nowhere to her. But the unexpected happens when she see Colt. Something inside her awakens and turns her vacation upside down. Suddenly she finds herself excited to be there. But the reality of the situation is always on her mind: she will leave in two weeks. So nothing permanent can be built. Or could it?

Heartbreak Ranch is a fun, fast story about opening ones heart and learning to love. Make no mistake about it, the focus of this book is romance. Other things do happen, but at its heart it is their romantic story. I wasn't entirely prepared for just a romance story. Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the book. It had humor, interesting characters, and enough ranch stuff appease my inner Westerns fan girl. But the focus is about their growing relationship. Thankfully, the author was able to create a believable relationship for the characters and in the time limit that made it not feel too much like an insta love, instead it was more like meeting of kindred souls.

The point of view alternates between both Graysen and Colt and you quickly get a feel for where they both are in the lives. In their own ways, they've both kind of stalled. Watching them wake up and realize what their lives had been missing as they fall for each other made for a great story. I liked Graysen's family and how they reacted to her new found relationship. Their reactions were varied, but all real and believable.

So what didn't I like? From a personal reader stand point, I would have enjoyed the story more if it had more to it than only a romantic plot. Things do happen, but they are all tied to this romance. This is not meant to be taken as a criticism of the book by any means, it's just my own personal preferences when it comes to the genre.

I do recommend this book to anyone who likes romance novels. Would I read more by this author? Yes.

I received Heartbreak Ranch in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by YA Bound Book Tours. Greysen’s vacation plans didn't include a long road trip, horses or hot guys. After all she wanted to head to Europe with her friends but thanks to her parents family trip she’s going to spend two weeks in Wyoming. If only they have cell service she may just make it the whole two weeks. After a long car ride with her older brother and teenage sister Greysen is happy to have a real bed to sleep in since the hotels have been awful.

Arriving at the ranch her family heads up to the main house after settling in but Greysen sneaks off for a walk finding a wild horse with a handsome cowboy. Enchanted by the horse and rider she spies on him around the side of the barn. She returns back to her family and the party only to be introduced to the cowboy when he joins for a brief drink. Neither Greysen or Colt can deny the attraction to each other and what starts off as one crazy night turns into a whirlwind romance. However while Colt may be happy at the ranch Greysen is a city girl and what happens after her two weeks are up?

I really like Greysen she’s a sweet innocent girl who needs to break out of her shell and learn to live. I think Colt is perfect what can I say sexy guy on a black stallion named Pumpkin. Loved it!!!! The chemistry between Greysen and Colt is exactly what I like in my steamy romance.

I was enchanted by the concept right from the start since I’m a horse junky give me a steamy romance with horses I’m sold. The characters are easy to connect with you can’t help falling for Greysen with her unique name. Colt is just amazing he had me sold when we first encountered him on Pumpkin. I love Heartbreak Ranch it’s a fast paced steamy romance that sparks the imagination and leaves you breathless. I will admit the steamy parts make me blush and Heartbreak Ranch is no exception or lacking in the steam department but I think the author wrote them well. The whole book is well written for a debut novel. I would suggest mature teenager to adults will enjoy this book because it is steamy.

Graysen Beaufort is stuck vacationing at a ranch with her family for two weeks. She's convinced she's going to be bored out of her mind for the duration. But, of course, there she meets Colt McCord--the handsome horse trainer at the ranch. Will she take a chance on Colt with only two weeks with him?

First things first...who doesn't love cowboys? Not sure what it is about them but they're hella sexy... Anyways...the instant attraction between Graysen and Colt is intense. It's the type of attraction one finds in the movies. It's hot, it's heavy and it's devastating. I love the level of intensity between the two. The conflict with Graysen's family grated my nerves at times but who wants anything interrupting two lovers? Definitely a great debut novel!

Meh.

This book was not what I was expecting.
It was only 8 chapters, and I hate and love that. Hate because the ending really did nothing for me. It has to many possibilities, and I like an absolute HEA. I loved the shortness of it because I'm getting so tired of the angst my fav genres use. The chase and game playing is getting old. All I want is a good love story, and you have to be a mighty fine writer to do it right and make it perfect.

I did love Grey and Colt together. I loved reading what little story they had.

Excellent book, it has romance, a good conflict and obviously a young, hot college age girl falling for a rough, tough cowboy. A story that captures you and leaves wanting more.
