Rate this book
When Rebekah Lansing met Dr. Richard Moore, her life took a dramatic turn toward what appeared to be a glorious, romance-filled future.

Then a drunk ran a red light and changed everything. Now, encased in a body that wouldn’t move, her dreams of being loved and cherished and sharing a life with the man she adored had shattered and crashed down around her.

Was there any purpose for her life now?

Would Richard remain at her side or abandon her for someone else?

How could she be sure of his love?

And even if he pledged it, did she have the right to hold him to his promise, particularly when she knew there was another woman—healthy and beautiful—waiting in the wings to take her place?

Rebekah Lansing's future was blissful as she carefully planned the perfect wedding, and anticipated her future happiness sharing her life with Dr. Richard Moore. Her life couldn't be better if she had planned it that way. After meeting Richard for lunch she left the restaurant, and awoke in a hospital bed, unable to move or speak. What will become of the love she shares with Richard? Will she ever recover? Is there any hope left for her? She has all the time in the world to think, and her thoughts turn to God. Had she ignored Him as she happily prepared for that perfect day in her life?

In this short story Kathi Macias has touched my heart once again with her ability to evoke such emotion in her writing. This heartbreaking story of beauty and love interrupted by a moment in time brought me to tears. A beautiful young woman with her life ahead of her is broken, body, mind and spirit. This is the view from inside the mind of a beautiful spirit who has lost her body in a horrific and senseless accident. With her mind trapped in a motionless body she can only turn to hope. That hope is the voice of God.

Do NO Harm by Kathi Macias

Rebekah Lansing was at the top of the world in love and plans of a wedding. Life was great.
Then there was the terrible accident. Her dreams came crashing down. Rebekah has loss all care in the world she has shut down her body and her mind. She had lost her love of her life now there was nothing her future gone.
The memories are there of when she met physician Richard Moore. While visiting her grandfather in the hospital and reading the Bible to him. . Feeling hungry she went to the cafeteria to get something to stop her growling stomach. He asked her to share a table. This was not the end of the meetings with Richard. Their relationship bosomed to love.
Where is her mother that’s all she has left she needs her. She relies on her mother for everything. Now that she is a nursing home waiting to die. Rebekah has given up on life. In the accident her spine was severed. What would Robert want with her now. He could have a much better life with someone else.
What is God’s plan for her now? Why is she still living. What purpose could God have for her now?
Voices woke her. Was a young lady talking to another lady. The lady was upset her mother was dying with cancer. The other lady was trying to encourage her there was still hope. Rebekah is thinking but God can cure her.
She has seen Richard walking and talking with another pretty woman. She is wondering if he is going to leave her for this other woman. The other woman kept pushing and trying to persuade him to leave Rebekah because she wanted him. I wonder what Richard will say? Will he give up on Rebekah move on to another life? What is God’s calling for Rebekah’s life? Read the story you will love it. What another great story by Kathi Macias.

Rebekah Lansing's looks forward to a beautiful wedding and a wonderful future with the handsome and thoughtful Dr. Richard Moore. Her dreams are interrupted by a horrific accident which appears to have put an end to life as she knows it. All she can do is think. Yet even in her apparently vegetative state, she hears the voice of God--a God who still has a plan for her life.

Kathi Macias has again touched my heart through the most unlikely main character and situation. Her ability to draw her readers into the mind of this desperately injured young girl had me close to tears several times. As I reached the end of this short story, I once more wanted to call out, "No Kathi! I want to read more."

"Do No Harm" is a love story, but far more than the traditional boy-meets-girl-and-they-live-happily-ever-after story. This is the story of a true love that you feel will indeed last forever. Despite the hopelessness of Rebekah's medical condition, this story offers hope. Hope in God, and hope in true love to win through. It is also a reminder of the sanctity of life. It should cause every reader to stop and think.
