A YA novel.

Okay my thoughts might be a little erratic because I am on my lunch break but I needed to write my review before I forgot! :)

So here we go.

Revealing Kia is a great sequel to Finding Kia. I didn't feel as if I missed a lot from FK to RK.
I wanted to kick Vanessa's butt a few times. Then I found out what was going on with her. The poor girl. By the end of the book all I wanted to do was give her a hug. The rumors, bullying and depression. Things that I could see that a real girl could go through in the sensitive ages of High School.

Adam and Kia...To want to be together but can't because of loyalty to another. Adam is about to do whatever he can to make Kia realize that there is no other option than to be with him. These two flow together really well. Kia is a shy girl and it's hard not to blush around the poor boy. Things get pretty close and it was all in a tasteful manner considering they are still high school. Very well wrote and not too far.

Kenny...my favorite dork ever. He is hilarious and I just love this character! Everyone needs or has a friend like him.

All in all I felt that this is a GREAT YA novel and it was yes again, tasteful with a little drama, romance, broken friendships, and overbearing parents...Hey this IS high school isn't it?
Reminds me of a better Sweet Valley High. I love me some Sweet Valley!!!

Lay it on me Airicka, I need that high five girl, don't leave me hanging. Dammit how does she do it? that will be the question you will ask when finishing this book. How does Airicka always manage to leave you wanting more ... her? So yeah... moving on

Song choice: "Taking Control" by Eisley, "Disloyal Order of Water Buffalo" by Fall Out Boy, "We Looked Like Giants" by Death Cab for Cutie

First thoughts: Okay seriously why haven't you started reading this book? Really I can't think of a good reason - well besides, being attacked, kidnapped, maybe I don't know your dog...died? If so i am so very sorry. Now i am just a horrible person.... But seriously you need to be reading this book. Like right now, why even read this review! WAIT WAIT WAIT come back! Its as wonderful - if not better than the first and really truly needs to be read. I love this ...duel, pairing, couplet, book 1 and 2? whatever the hell you want to call it. Seriously even if this is based in high school the problems are relate-able to all people of all ages. If you have ever felt less than amazing - which i already know you are - then you should read this. We are all here for you and we love you. <3

Thoughts on Plot: Fantastic. Hehehe, the thing with these books are a they are a bit more character driven which is fine by me, but this did have a steady, way amazing - Airicka - like pace to it. We get a lot more interaction between Kia and Addddaaammmm *swwooooonnns* couldn't control the swoon it happens everytime i mention him. So all those ladies going for Adam - watch out, I am coming for him! Just think this

So yeah... anyways there are new problems that arise in this book, and while we have a clone Claudia I was SUPER DUPER happy that she made only a few appearances and she really wasn't the problem. I think we all know who the problem in this book was, and really cannot wait to talk to about her, but yes you guessed right it's Adddddaaaammmm's *swwwwoooonss* - could you i couldn't control it - sister, and Kia's BBFF (best bitchy friend forever - that was slightly mean....but i am sticking with it for a bit) anyways back to announcing her name: Nessie... no not the Scottish Lake monster - she was Scottish wasn't she...? - anyways Van or Vanessa, which ever you prefer.
But this is different this isn't about Kia finding herself anymore, its about her standing up and taking a charge which shows really well, and she is not the only one growing in this story so does Nessie.
Overall serious issues are brought to light in this book, just like in the first book, they are handled beautifully and done very well. It's something I think everyone can relate to even if they hate to admit it, but I think it is also nice to find strength from Kia.

Oh before I forget! I loved the mix of humor and serious problems <3 awesome, awesome, awesome

Characters:

So usually I would talk about the Kia or Addddddddddddddaaaaaammmmmm *sssswwwoooonnnnsss* first but I need NEED NEED, NEED, to talk about Nessie before I explode.

So Nessie: I have had a friend like her before. One that is so selfish that they cannot see past their own selfish needs, and I have been Kia - in a sense. I have been that friend one that is loyal to fault. I think that is why in the end it was really hard for me to accept Nessie, she does grow she does become more, so don't write her off. Anyways she is going through some serious shit, and I get that, but like i said having personal experience with a friend sort of like Nessie and finally it just exploded to the point there could be no more repairs, she made her decisions, I made mine, I was glad to see how this book ended. I think that Nessie was a very complex character that was very well written. This wasn't just some teenager angst that we all love to joke about - and come on seriously I LOVE TEENAGER ANGST its fun to laugh at, AT TIMES, but sometimes there are bigger issues here. And I think that Airicka did take her character very seriously when writing her as she did. I think that Nessie became a very powerful character and could easily become someone's favorite if they have ever experienced what Nessie did, but for me I have to admit it was hard for me to care for her sometimes speaking of her as a person (written well done, well done airicka) but as a person she is not someone i could ever imagine being around, not after what I had been through. But I was so glad Kia was stronger than me. Better than me.

Kia: She is my hero. For reals. I didn't think Kia could get better. Ohh but she does. She totally does. She is such an amazing person. Okay yeah in this book at first she was a bit more like her old self but she does grow, she starts to stand up for exactly what she wants, and honestly she does the right thing. A friend - a true friend - wouldn't abandon you for any reason that was brought up in this book, in a lot of reasons short of murdering their whole family, or something else horrible like that. But Kia she sticks around for anything, and even when she doesn't have to, or shouldn't even consider doing more for her friend she does. She seriously the greatest character ever. I am not kidding when I said she was my hero. I am jealous of her totally awesomeness...oh and she does live up to her awesomely clumsy ways, explosive laughter people.

Kenny: Yes KENNY! I loved his off-kilter humor and his odd ways. I want me a Kenny as well, yes I am greedy. Thats really all.

Adddddddaaaaaaammmmmmmmmm *ssssssswwwwwwwwoooooooonnnnnnnnnnns and drools*: How holy MAN. My heart still starts to pound when I think of certain things this man said.... okay all the things this man said. OH MY GOD, I NEED a hose..... holy god. Okay *gives self pep talk, you can BE PROFESSIONAL ABOUT THIS, YOU CAN YOU CAN YOU TOTALLY CAN'T* HAHAHA lets get one thing straight this man needs to have his birthday very spoon so my fantasies and stop being creepy as helll. all fudge it, i am not that much older than him, or over it being legal.......He was so damn swoony worthy. I cant even... yummy, if you thought he was smexy in the first book oh just wait, not only that but you get his POV oh yes! oh damn that tie.... sorry... daydreaming. Excellent, excellent character. I need to stop before i start a lake of drool and people are starting to stare.

So the ending. Is it wrong that I am not done with these characters? Hahaa, I really love them I am not ready to say goodbye to them but overall it was a good ending for them, <3 a HEA if I ever saw one.

So check out my other awesomeness of reviews here: http://theviolethourbookreviews.wordp...

Ms. Phoenix has done it again with the amazingly touching conclusion to The Lost Girls Series with Revealing Kia. We are once again introduced back into the world of Kia, Adam, and Vanessa right where we left off with Finding Kia. Now, I've read the reviews, and as much as I am totally going to gush about the scrumptiousness that is Adam, and just how much I love Kia and feel for Vanessa, I think I'm going to let my review take another approach.

As I said with Finding Kia - I loved the message that Airicka was trying to put forth to her readers. Letting them know that it's ok to dare to find themselves. And that it's ok to be unique!!

She again dives into some heavy issues with Revealing Kia. In this installment we were all itching for, "What happens with Kia and Adam? Can they be together?" And while those questions are more than answered to the delight of her readers, I think the more important message comes forth in Vanessa's story that is intertwined beautifully with Adam and Kia's. We're given a little hint into what Ms. Phoenix will be discussing in her heartfelt and very personal Acknowledgements at the beginning of the book.

Airicka discusses bullying and how she was bullied when she was younger, and the severe implications of holding acts like this to yourself and not involving people that can help. That NOBODY deserves to be made feel like less of a person regardless of their prior actions. Everyone deserves to be loved and respected and treated as such. And that NOONE should EVER be alone. This is why I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. The messages that Airicka has put forth are so important and necessary to teenage/young adult girls. I highly recommend this to them all.

Ok, now onto my normal gushing about Airicka's characters. I swear this woman should write a book on how to write believable and real characters. Kia, by far, is one of my most favorite heroine's of all-time. I love seeing how she has grown into to a beautiful and confident woman from where we first met her at the beginning of Finding Kia. Kia has found this voice and even by the time we reach the end of Revealing Kia has grown in a way that I never thought possible. She stands up not only for herself, but for those that she loves and believes in. I love it.

Vanessa....where do I even begin. I have to admit, I read this book twice. The second time I felt much differently towards Nessie than the first. The first time around, I wanted to punch her face in for the way that she was treating Kia and Adam AND her parent's. She came across as a stubborn and spoiled little brat. A very one-sided friend that only cared about herself. However, the second time around, my heart broke for her. And I cried with her....and I wanted the pain to stop. The beauty in which Airicka wrote this character just amazes me. And watching Vanessa transform....again....just amazing and wonderful.

I don't have a ton to say about him, but I do have to mention the comic-relief that is Kenny Kimura. OMG - this guy cracks me up. And I'm hoping and hoping and hoping that maybe (just maybe), Airicka gives him (and maybe Nessie) a story of his (their) own. Cough Couch...wink wink...nudge nudge....

Ok - now I have to get on to my swoon-worthy review of Adam. Where oh where do I begin. I fell in love with Adam during Finding Kia. The bonus in Revealing Kia is that we get an insight into Adam's brain as Airicka writes us chapters in his POV. Oh my goodness....if we would have had a glimpse into Adam's brain into Finding Kia - he would have certainly surpassed Spencer (I know I know....) as my favorite Airicka book boy. He, hands down, is the whole package. Sexy, thoughtful, sexy, sweet, sexy, caring, sexy, and amazingly sexy!! I highlighted SEVERAL quotes from Adam that were just....well....you'll have to read to find out for yourself.

This book was beautifully written. The story, the characters, the message....it's THE WHOLE PACKAGE. I highly recommend this to anyone that ever felt, "less than special...less than normal...." and anyone who's ever had to deal with that feeling of being inferior and alone. Remember as Eleanor Roosevelt stated, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop
to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can
take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

I am going to start by saying.. I hate that this is the conclusion, because I totally love Kia, Adam and even Vanessa since I wanted to choke her. Let's not forget Kenny he's such a dork, but I loved him. I love this cover, simply beautiful.
It's a must read for everyone who reads Ya. It brings awareness to the very important topic of bullying. It also shows us how sweet Adam is and how tempting he is. Kia is in trouble.

I absolutely love this book. Finding Kia was wonder and kept me hooked but I have to say Revealing Kia was better which i didn't think would be possible. Adam becomes more and more dreamier while Kia stayed so strong and became a beyond amazing character. With this series you can see/feel these characters grow so much. Can't wait to see what Airicka brings in the next book she never disappoints and always pains us with wanting more.

Okay, so I got this book for an honest review and I'm so super glad I did! I read book one and already loved it like nothing else... And let me tell you... No, let's start with what the book is about...

The events of Claudia’s party were nothing more than a distant memory as far as Kia was concerned. She was ready to resume her life as though that night had never happened. But it’s a slippery slope keeping a secret and Kia’s about to learn just how hard when she’s faced with the truth and the consequences of her decision.

Adam Chaves was no stranger to girls wanting him. He was no stranger to breaking hearts, although never intentionally. What he didn’t understand was how Kia could undress him, touch him, burn him with her eyes and still keep him at arm’s length when it was evident how much it cost her. But what Kia didn’t realize was that he had never given up on anything in his life and he wasn’t about to start now. He would have his girl even if it meant he had to kidnap her to do it.

description

That's the first thing I can think of when I think of this book.

Before I get to all the fan-girling I'd really like to start out with the serious topic that Airicka tackles in the book and her prologue. Mobbing. I've never been a victim of strong bullying, just the 'normal' version everyone of us surely has dealt with over the time being, but I have to say that I love everything that Airicka's characters do concerning it. Nessie's strength to just ignore it, no matter how much it breaks her inside, and Kia's way of standing up for her is just... I swear, everyone needs a friend like Kia and I'm really proud she went up against that.
For someone who has a mother that actually dealt with depression for a while I know how hard it is for the people around them to recognize it as something that needs to be taken seriously. I am glad that Nessie's mother eventually is ready to stand up for her children.

Now to the less serious and still not less amazing parts...

description

That's all I can say when it comes to Adam. Man, this guy really is something and the scene in the kitchen? Wow... I was feeling VERY hot while reading that.
What I actually liked most about this whole book was Adam coming down the stairs with his glasses. There's nothing better about a seemingly perfect guy having just the slightest imperfection. Let's be honest here, no one could keep up with a perfect guy... And no one would want to. But Adam its just the right way imperfect for me!

description

Now about Kia... Gee, I love her. I love everything about her. I love her loyalty, I love her clumsiness and I love her honesty. No matter how much she wants Adam, she still has her priorities set straight and really follows what she believes. She is a great friend to Nessie, no matter what she thinks, and she is a great daughter to her mother. I really admire that Airicka's main goes up against people, not hiding that her mother actually is living in a lesbian relationship. She is ready to defend them and take on all prejudices for them and in return they prove that conventional is not necessary to be amazing.

My favorite scene (since it's constantly replaying in my head-movie-theater) is the one where Adam teaches Kia how to ski. Them out in a cabin? WOW. Me want. Seriously.

Now all I have left to say is that I am really sad this was the conclusion to the lost girl -series, but it was just great!

description

This book is sooooo good. I'm gonna read it again very soon because I just can't stay away from Adam...

Adam knows now that Kia is the girl behind the mask. And he's not going to let anything stand in the way of how he feels about her - not even his sister. Good thing Kia feels the same way.

The conclusion to the story between Kia and Adam volleys back and forth between narrators, which was a little jarring after having just finished the previous book, but it works so well for this book. I don't think this book would have worked had Kia been the sole narrator, partially because it's not just her story anymore. We're introduced into Adam and Nessie's family, and you can see just how lucky Kia has it with her mom and Joanne. Nessie really does seem to be completely victimized by her parents, who just think that if they push push push that she'll turn out to be the robot they expected. Well we all know how much that doesn't work. I think this is just another reason Adam tells Kia he's not going to push her. He knows what it feels like and has seen how it's destroying his sister.

I had a slight feeling of dread while reading (I definitely expected some sort of Cruel Intentions ending with Nessie), but I'm glad for the resolution things came to. I definitely enjoyed reading this. Kia and her klutziness, while fictional, are good to see because I'm totally the same way, and I like reading characters who are flawed. Even better, Kia embraces her flaws and what makes her human. Her makeover in the first book was a positive experience - it has made her more confident (as much as a shy, nerdy bookworm can be) and wasn't something that backfired. That was something that in a book like this, with so much focus on self-esteem and having aspects of heavy bullying, could have turned out to be a wrong move. Not here though, not with these characters.

Some of the best lines I've read in a few books were here. Airicka has such strength in writing realistic characters you want to know, I think I would read anything she writes.

My rating for this book is 4.0 stars.

I love Adam and Kia! I swear Airicka can't not write characters that you can't help but fall in love with.Adam is hot, popular, rich, and sweet. But despite his social status being way above Kia's,he isn't going to let it stand between the. Kia is shy, smart, clumsy, and cute. She doesn't think she stands a chance with Adam. Revealing Kia is book 2 and also final book in The Lost Girl Series and I hate to see them go, but it was an awesome journey to watch their relationship unfold.
***SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BOOK 1 YET!***Finding Kia(Book 1) was a sort of Cinderella Story with a twist. The boy Kia meets at a Masquerade party and falls for is none other than her BFF's brother. Which throws a wrench in an already messy situation.***
So now in Revealing Kia,Adam and Kia are between a rock and hard place. After finding out Kia and the girl from the party he is no longer torn between two girls. But Kia is torn between two people,Adam and Nessie. Nessie asked Kia not to be with her brother Adam and Kia does her best to comply. After Adam finds out she was the girl from the party Kia avoids him at all cost. However, fate throws them together during a week long Christmas trip and things get tricky. Kia must find a way to get over Adam for the sake of her friendship with Nessie or come clean about their feelings for each other in hopes of still keeping her best friend. So what happens when you are forced to chose between the boy you want and your best friend? Can Kia find a way to keep both of them without losing either?

If you read my review from book #1 you know that I couldn't wait to review in between and jumped right into book #2....late at night... like the wee morning....knowing I had to be up with kiddies and run my business and all. I finished book 2 by the next night, tired eyes and all! Sometimes I am not a fan of series but I found the story in book 2 still involved all the same characters and theme but it went in a different director so I didn't feel like I was just re-reading more of book 1. Nor did it feel like it was dragging while the author took some of the ideas from book 1 and made it into an entire new book.

As always with Airicka's books..the writing is amazing and I found myself chuckling and smiling and feeling all the emotions of the characters as I read with them.

No my only hope is that I will be able to read more about Kia and Adam and soon as I REALLY did feel connected to these characters. And if you have read some of my earlier reviews you will know I'm not always a fan of YA....so the fact that I love yet another YA series of Airicka's and am wanting more says A LOT!

I've now jumped into her next book I bought...Betraying Innocence....so can't wait to get back to reading! Stay tuned for that review as well! :)
BTW another review also mentioned they want their own Adam....I couldn't agree more! :)

Lets start with saying this is book 2. The first book is Finding Kia and you can find my review for that HERE! After finishing the first book I basically begged the author for book 2 way before it was ready. Both books deserve way more then 5 stars.

I loved this book. I had it done within 4 hours. Her books are the only ones I seem to finish so fast. I get so engrossed time slips by until I am done with it. I still love the characters. They are great. Adam is hot and has to be my favorite out of all. Kia showed some spunkiness in this book. It was good to see her come out of her shell more. Van really aggravated me but I am glad she realized things before it was to late. Kenny was a trip.

I laughed a lot during this book. Adam and Kia are a funny pair. I felt for Adam when Kia kept picking Van over him. I tried to understand it but it was hard. Thankfully Kia stood up for herself. I hated Taylor and Claudia still. Loved the part between Kia and Claudia. Kia put the bitch in her place. Go Kia. :)

This is a great book. I said in my review of the first book that if you have not read any Airicka Phoenix books this is a good set to start with. Her writing is amazing. I am so glad I found her books. Definitely recommend. GO BUY NOW!!

I am so infatuated with this story. While it is a great teen romance/coming of age kind of tale, the underlying messages are what really made me give it 5 stars. I think everyone should red this book if only to understand better how serious bullying is and what it can do to someone. While it may have been just a side element to the relationship between Kia and her best friend, I thought it was a very integral part of the story.

Ms. Phoenix does a great job of keeping us entertained with the troubles of two young lovers trying to come to terms with how they feel about each other without hurting those around them. I love that this book flows right from the first, Finding Kia, without throwing us into a headspin. We are given a glimpse into the lives of the main characters and a better feel for how and why they struggle with who they are becoming.

I am disappointed in that the story ends with Revealing Kia. The resolutions were quick at the end and I would have liked just a little more. That, and I secretly wanted Kia to kick Claudia's... I really enjoyed this quick read and look forward to reading more adventures.

I received Revealing Kia in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the duology and it picked right up where the first one left off.

Kia is having some major struggles. She doesn’t want to tell Vanessa about Adam because she values her friendship but she refuses to give undeserving people like Claudia a chance at him. She has a lot of decisions to make and they aren’t easy. She is very strong willed and will fight for those she loves while trying to do the right thing.

She loves Adam but tries so very hard to resist her and he won’t give up. Even if it threatens his family and the friendship Kia shares with his sister.

You hear more of the story from Adam’s side and get an idea of how the story is playing out through both vantage points. I love this and we get to see some of Adam’s flaws. He seems more real to me in this book than he did in the first.

I loved the story and was very sad to see it come to an end. Thank you, Airicka, for your stories. I look forward to reading more of your work!

Oh Adam you are seriously such a guy, "but damn if she didn't look temptingly inappropriate with her cheeks flushed, her short hair tussled and one long leg bared from the hip down. Yeah, it was a bad time to notice, but man did I notice." I liked this book, well actually I loved it. I loved the duel perspectives of both characters and I like how possessive Adam is of Kia when his buddy starts talking about her, "I like her. Kia, that is. She has a ... personality, I find kind of sexy." He looked up and caught the warning glower I cast him. He grinned. "Don't worry. I know she's yours. But I'd be careful." Adam and Kia have so much chemistry between them that when they're together you can't help but get all hot and bothered when they get all hot and bothered, "you first," I growled, but stopped. I pulled back a notch to search her eyes. "We should probably move before I get us arrested for inappropriate behavior in public." I would love Kenny and Nessa's story next.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for a honest review and I am so glad I was chosen..I am so happy for Kia through out this book she stays so strong and I love it!! Kia is invited by her friend Nessie to stay with her family in the mountains. Kia only agrees because Nessie's brother Adam won't be there. In the middle of the night Kia gets woken up by no other than Adam. Adam is in love with Kia and he is trying to prove that they belong together. All he has to do is convenience his little sister Nessie. Will Adam be able to get Kia? Will Kia and Nessie's friendship survive all the drama? I am so in love with this book!!! The author has done a great job with all the characters and there on personalities shine thru!!!

I don't know what to say, but well done Airicka? Thank you for writing a book that features and talks about bullying and teen depression? Thank you for writing another damn amazing book? I would like to say all of those things and more!

Revealing Kia and Finding Kia need to be read! I think everyone will relate to the themes in the books because they have either witnessed it going on or experienced it themselves, and that's why Airicka deserves a damn medal... and pat on the back, and a hug, and a high five.. and a cookie... ok you get it, the woman is genius!

I will end this review by saying this: Go and read the Lost Girl Duology NOW!

P.S. I heart Adam

I found myself smiling in some points of the book. I also found my eyes welling up with tears in other points as well. Revealing Kia was definitely an emotional rollercoaster ride through these teens lives dealing with real issues that teens today deal with everyday...with a great ending.

I read the first book and LOVED it. This one, not as much. I liked Nessie in the first book, but hated her in this one. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say I don't know why the author didn't give us a little more background on her problems. Then at the end she was getting help, but it just seemed incomplete because there wasn't enough info for me. Overall it was a great series.

Absolutely beautiful and touching story. I have fallen in love with this series so much and the stories in the series are written so perfectly. It has everything you could want. Humour, romance, and lots of drama. The obvious passion shows in the author's writing without a doubt.

This book is an extremely interesting and imaginative read. I particularly loved the style of the book and it made sure to grab me from the very beginning and hold my attention to the very end. It's an extremely fast paced book with full of adventure. The characters were very inventive and they make sure to engage you from the start.

First time reading any of this authors work and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a well thought out and interesting story. I found myself looking forward in anticipation to the next scene. The story flowed very well and at the end I wanted more. There are many twists and turns. I did not want to put it down

This book can be enjoyed time and time again.I highly recommend it and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Will highly recommend this author to everyone I know. 5/5

Revealing Kia I felt was a lot better than the first in the series. I loved how you were able to get both POV’s from Kia and Adam. I really set a different one.

Kia really is this all around good person. She cares about the people she’s close to. This story is full of drama, which would be expected from the fact they are teenagers. Nessie, I saw in a whole new light. At first, I really didn’t like her, she was so mean! but then you realize what’s really going on so then you feel bad, for not really liking her.

Kia and Adam were good together. I enjoyed them but I was able to get that deep connection with them. I think I’ve been reading too many angsty books.

Overall though, Airicka did a fabulous job on this one. I give this Four Boundless Stars.

My review~
I received this book in exchange for a honest review.
First off let me say how I adore all the covers by this author. This cover is lovely and a bit sexy. I love the cover model. I simply love love love this book even more than the first. This author knows how to out do herself. I'm thinking it is the best work so far as to what I have read by her. It writing is eloquent and flows amazingly and the words are heart felt and beautiful. This author is one of my favorites simply because of the wonderful underlying messages she has written in her books. No one deserves to be alone or be treated badly. The writing ensnare me within the first chapter and had be hooked to the very end. I really wish there was another book after this. I would love to see how Kia, Adam, Kenny, and Nessie go forth or even one about Nessie and Kenny as a side series. I can't wait to read the other books I haven't read yet by this author. I'm sure they will captivate me and tangle me up in their webs too. This is one book that had me thinking about the book even after I read it to which I had to open it back up and re-read it again. I love when that happens. The writing is fast paced easy read that you can't put down. I can't gush enough on how I love this book!!!! ALL I WANT IS MORE MORE MORE!

The Conclusion...

Blog Tour Post: The Shadow Realm

description

OK this is gonna be short and sweet because if I go on for too long I'm just gonna be gushing and rambling and you won't be able to keep up with me :P

As I stated in my review of Finding Kia, I absolutely love Kia and Adam. And I just loved them even more in this one. These two are just perfect for each other. And guess what?! We get Adam's POV!! Yay!!! I had never been so happy. This guy makes me swoon so hard! As for Kia? Seriously, everyone needs a friend like her. Completely loyal, amazingly trustworthy and totally kick-ass. She is one heroine to look up to.

Now, the main thing I want to talk about is Nessie. My god this poor girl! For most of the book I wanted to throttle her. Her treatment of Adam and Kia and her parents was horrible! But when I found out what she was going through? My heart broke for her. Airicka deals with a tough issue in this book. Bullying is something that a lot of people have gone through, myself included, and I want to applaud Airicka for how she tackles the issue. I teared up when I read of her own bullying history. There is a fantastic message in Revealing Kia and one I hope many will listen to. There were times when I was being bullied that I felt so alone and depressed. But I knew that I had genuine friends and that I shouldn't push them away. I found myself relating to Nessie. Even though I was never bullied to such an extreme, I still knew how she felt. I became so frustrated with her, screaming at her to not push everyone away, that she would get through this. By the end of the book I was there crying along with her, wanting to wrap her up and make the pain go away.

This is a beautifully written, heartbreaking read. I highly recommend this to those of us who have ever felt unloved or unwanted. Thank you Airicka for another phenomenal read.
[PS: I would love a story about Kenny and Nessie. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge... ;)]

Revealing Kia by Airicka Phoenix
*This book contains adult content, Spoiler Free Review*

3.0 Stars

Introduction
After the events of book one, Kia struggles more than ever and tensions are high. In this book, Kia, stands in between Adam and Nessie. She loves Adam and really wants to be with him, but Nessie made it quite clear that she would hate it if her best friend dated her brother. And at the moment Nessie really needs the support of Kia, but at what cost? Will Kia choose happiness over friendship, or will it be the other way around? This book is the second in a series called the “The Lost Girl”.

What I liked & What I disliked
I liked that it was from Kia's and Amdam's POV, it was fun, but Adam's POV was not completely necessary. Kia was awesome and soo funny. She really did feel real to me, because I could really understand some of her decisions and thinking. Sometimes the story was a bit predictable, but it was still a fun read. For me, the book really was the most exciting at the ending. I felt like half of the book was at a too slow pace for me, and more towards the ending it got very good. I just hoped the interesting parts at the ending were more extensive than the events before. This book had me seriously laughing sometimes, it was soo funny. There wasn't a cliffhanger, but it was still kind of an open ending. I thought it was good to give attention to the topic of depression.

Conclusion
So, I enjoyed this book (but I liked the first one in the series better), it made me laugh, but the pace of the first part of the book was a bit slow. However, it is not like I think I wasted my time, because I didn't. I would recommend this book to fans of romance, young adult books and people who like a strong female lead.

Rating
I would like to give this book a rating of 3.0 out of 5.0.

Well I just have to give a quick review on this, as I loved the first one so much. Unfortunately this one fell a little short for me. I think I just loved the build up and the mystery to the first one, that once everything was out in the open it wasn't so exciting in the second. Don't get me wrong it's still a good book I just would have a like a little more out of it.

Kia and Adam were fantastic in this one, they really were. The sneaking around and sly glances were really fun. I absolutely FREAKING LOVED the gift that she gave him.. So darn sexy yet only the two of them know it. Which is great!!

The biggest thing that turned me off in this book was Nessie. I just.. She just came across so spoiled and such a brat that I would have liked to just slap her. Of course, it's not very often that you get characters like these that are not the bad guy, so I guess it's a little different. It just grated on my nerves. The whole way the family treated it just seemed wrong and I would have liked Adam not being such an asshole towards her. Even though when pushed came to shove her family was still there for her. Which I guess is the whole meaning.

So over all this was still a very good book, even if I didn't like some aspects. I would imagine that a lot of people will still like it and can over look some things. Plus it's such a quick easy read that if you have read the first one and loved it, you should just as well read this one. It's only 3 hours out of your day and you the story's finished. =)

**** I received this book directly from the author in exchange for an honest review*****

Reveling Kia was a ;pt more interesting than the first book in the Lost Girl Series. I like how Phoenix gave bot Adam and Kia's perspectives on their emotions for each other and how it would effect Vanessa. Adam's sister and Kia's best friend. Now that Adam knows it was Kia behind the mask at Claudia's masquerade party, he will stop at nothing to get her. No matter what it takes to make Vanessa see it can work out for all of them. Vanessa has some major troubles of her own though, that she isn't willing to share. Will Adam and Kia get to embrace their love and Lose Vanessa to her own private hell or can they all come together as one to help each other?

Again I feel like this book started out slow, but when it started flowing it was like a dam breaking. I think giving Vanessa a bigger part as a character in this book really helped the story become more interesting, rather than just having the constant inner turmoil or Kia and Adam trying to hide their relationship until the right time. It's worth the read especially when Kia fins herself facing Claudia and the whole school to defend Vanessa even though she isn't sure of their friendship. If more teens could be that loyal it would be a much better place. Cheers to Phoenix for bringing up a lot of issues in this book that teens have to deal with today and showing how hard it is sometimes to come to their parents. she shows though there are many ways to approach such subjects and ways people deal with them.
