I write dreamy, lyrical science fiction and fantasy romance novels for adults and teens. My stories are hopeful and darkly romantic, which is kind of how I live my life. Every morning I hike up a hill in a forest-park in the middle of my hard-working city to a ruined Victorian castle shaded by pine trees. And then on the best days, which are frequent enough that I’m grateful all the time, I sit in my favorite Mexican restaurant with my favorite band thundering in my ears, drinking a margarita, eating tofu with black beans and rice, and write romance novels until darkness falls.

Okay I am just going to throw it out there because this story was one hell of a roller coaster ride and at times I was not sure if I was enjoying it. This is one of those dark and haunting stories that has you at the edge of your seat wondering if this is real or not.

Emma is just enjoying her high school days. She is minding her business and staying to herself because she knows she is different. All that changes the day a new student starts school at Dearborn High. Emma meets Joe and the minute she meets him she knows her life is going to change. How it is going to change she has no idea but she can feel it. Then if things couldn't get worse she has a vision in front of Joe and he gets super pissed off at her because it involves his mother and the paintings she has painted.

As Joe and Emma try and navigate through what is going on they realize they are linked to one another and they need to find out why they are linked and what this means for them because from where they are standing it does not look good. Emma is continuing to have visions and these visions are dark and scaring her but she knows she and Joe will figure out what is going on.

Want a dark read that will have you on the edge of your seat...... well this is it so go out and get it and enjoy the craziest scariest ride of a lifetime!

Mary Beth Bass's poetic style lends beautifully to this magical tale of discovery and love, grief and adventure. Tapping that shared experience of maturing and all its growing pains, she gives it a magical twist that is both in keeping with, and making new this thing we've all been through. Emma and Joe are misfits, not only among their peers, but seemingly within their own families. As the tale unfolds, they learn they are not so different after all, and that they are extraordinary.

This story is BIG--too big for the confines of these covers. The characters, the adventure, the themes and the events in this book burst out of the pages and beg for more space in your brain. Ms. Bass's beautiful style elevates the story in places with just the right touch to not just tug at your heartstrings, but to really give them a good tweak.

I'd have liked to see this a BIGGER book, becaus there seemed to be so much more of the story just dying to be told. I hope she tells it.

Strange things are happening to Emma. She's having nightmares along with sweating in the middle of winter for no reason at all. One day at school, she meets a mysterious boy named Joe, who also may be experiencing things that aren't normal. Their connection is undeniable.

The day Emma meets Joe, she has a vision of sorts in front of him. Resulting in Joe getting mad at Emma because it turns out that Emma just described in vivid detail his mother's paintings of dark fairy tales.

Emma and Joe's story is complex yet sort of beautiful. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding them and I realllly enjoyed the soulmate aspect of the book as well.
Throughout the story you will be questioning what everyone is. It had a bit of a fantasy type feel to it.

The story itself was magical. I want to say more but I would rather you read for yourself and discover the beauty of it yourself.

I loved "everything you know" by Mary Beth Bass! Normally, I only read historical and contemporary romances and tend to shy away from fantasies, but this novel has shown me that there is so much more out there! I got my romance (which I MUST have!), plus I received a good dose of elements from the "otherworld," (if you read the book, you'll get my play on words and find that I was very witty there!) but not so much that I wanted to roll my eyes and say "you've got to be kidding." No, not with "everything you know." I'll tell you what I know and that is...this is a great novel and Ms. Bass is a very talented and skilled author! Can't wait for her next book!

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.

Firstly I would like to thanks the author for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book.

Wow!!! I really loved the concept. Ah!!! The emotions that were portrayed in this story were soul-touching and I loved and cherished this awesome experience.

The characters were so mature and developed and I loved the crisp dialogues and the best part is that the heroine isn't the princess of 'Stupidland'. Hope you guys will understand that!!! The suspense and mystery part is good but it wasn't great because I saw some of the biggest twists coming from a long way.

The best part is the emotions that took my breath away. This is a great read and I would definitely recommend it to you guys. Hope you'll like it just as I did. Enjoy!!!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I truly enjoyed this book. It drew me in from the beginning and kept me wondering until the very end. The characters were well written and easy to connect to and feel an attachment too. I will admit that at times I was a bit confused with trying to figure out the different type of abilities and names for people. Even though I was confused it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book. A definite must read for anyone who likes science fiction mixed with romance and mystery. The end of the book left me with a some new questions. Definitely hope there will be another book. Thank you Mary Beth Bass for introducing me to a whole new different world. I look forward to reading more of your work.

While this is not my typical genre to read, I wanted to give this a try. The story line was intriguing to me. Mary Beth Bass is an incredible story teller with such detail and imagination. It is a combination of a young adult romance, the dark side, magic, a great combination.

Her characters Emma and the new boy in school, Joe, have a strange yet immediate connection. As they start hanging out together, they work on finding that connection. You have love, magic, and family, all wrapped into one.

If you like a little paranormal/fantasy in your reads, this book is for you. A well written novel and would be inclined to read more by Mary Beth Bass.

This is one of the most fascinating worlds I have read about in a long time. It was very long and a little drawn out and that is the only thing that keeps this from being a 5 moon book for me.

I can't wait to learn more about this amazing world the Mathew family belongs to. I loved the characters in this story so well written and easy to connect to. Joe and Emma are great and I am so eager to read on and learn what happens next in their story.

The love, drama, tragedy and new world in this book is amazing! I highly recommend you give it a try!

'Everything You Know' is a romantic, magical ride populated with well rendered, complex characters who you root for from beginning to end. The author weaves a multi layered story about first love, courage, loyalty, yearning, danger, family secrets and other worldly realms. Plus, the writing style is beautiful and lyrical. This book is romantic, unique an intriguing. Once you start reading it, you won't want to put it down! I loved it!

Did I enjoy this book: I . . . I thought I did. I wanted to. It’s the sort of thing I usually enjoy, and yet for some reason about halfway through I found myself reluctant to keep reading and I couldn’t figure out why . . .

You know how sometimes you get sick and don’t notice, and then a few days later you mention to your husband that you’re struggling to find motivation to do the dishes and he says, “Well, it’s probably because you’re sick,” and you think, “Holy Crap! I AM sick! No wonder I’ve been feeling so tired/yucky/cranky this week!” Yeah. This book was like that.

. . . So, once I figured out I wasn’t actually enjoying the book, I realized why. There’s too much of it. For one, there’s too much poetry. I hate it when characters in books just happen to be able to quote stanza after stanza of classic poetry. If you’ve written a book, I assume you’ve also read a few. You don’t need to wow me with your love of poetry by having your characters recite it. I get it. You’re well read.

There was also too much sex. Well, no, that’s not exactly it – there wasn’t very much actual sex, but the details were a bit too gratuitous for my taste. I don’t, for example, need to see the protagonist masturbating. Really I don’t. He’s a teenager and he’s got a crush on a pretty girl. I’m smart enough to figure out what he’s doing in his spare time without you spelling it out for me.

There was just, generally, too much. There were too many bad guys, too many subplots, too many secret powers and weird, hard to pronounce names, too much magic-that’s-not-really-magical terminology. It was just too, too much.

Would I recommend it: No.

Will I read it again: No.

I really connected with the characters in this story, and not just the two main characters, Emma and Joe, but with a couple of Emma’s siblings, too. I cared about them all. Joe’s character was missing a little something in the romance department, but it was easy to understand why he was the way he was. I also enjoyed the paranormal/fantasy aspects. I had no trouble picturing many of the places described. The story was unique and unpredictable.
On the downside, I found several scenes rather confusing. At times I couldn’t make heads or tails of what exactly was happening. Sometimes the point of view shifted without warning. These factors diminished the quality of the overall story for me.
Overall, it had some issues, but I still felt like there was a strong story there. And, despite the issues, I still strongly connected to the characters, and that was a big plus! I think this is a good story and with some editing could become great! So, 3 stars. I’d definitely read more from Mary Beth Bass, and I look forward to the sequel!

I would describe this book as a romantic fantasy. The book revolves not only about the 2 main characters, Emma and Joe, but their families as well. The story isn't just about Emma and Joe finding each other, but also fining themselves. Everything they thought they knew, isn't even close to what is about to be revealed. It contains magic, love, soul mates, and standing strong in what you believe in. There is also tragedies and murder. I hope that there is another installment to this book. I feel that Joe and Emma's story has really just begun. Plus I would like to know what else happens with their families. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I recommend this for Young adults and adults. Every one needs a little fantasy and hope in their lives.
