Fate intervenes twelve years later and their paths intersect once again. All three will question whether the heart is truly capable of dividing and being divided; each will decide whether it matters who you loved first or who you love last.
Together they will learn that in the end, there can always only be one.

Anyone who has read my review of “The Light in the Wound” should know that I was SCARED about this book….
Scared because, I loved the first book so much. Even the ending.
So when I found out about a 2nd book, it’s safe to say I shit myself about not getting the ending that I wanted. #TeamAlex
So I asked Christine about it and she said there was more that needed to be said and I would love the second book as much. So I threatened to beat her with her own arms if she lied to me.
She still has both arms and no beatings, and I finished with happy tears, so she was indeed correct.
Told in 3 POV’S Alex, Jesse, Isabel’s. (In that order)
It all starts with another prologue that has you wondering?
OH GOD DAMN IT HAS SHE DONE IT AGAIN??!
And then delving into the story of a very happy, very married, very much in love still Alex and Isa. On their 12th wedding anniversary in Paris.
We see Jess at a business function but that’s about it…
until…
we hit 30% and the entire way you think the book is going changes..
EVERYTHING changes.
After all life isn't made up of unicorns and cupcakes and there will be ups and downs. I’m talking MAJOR drama/issues/angst But some of the dramas?! Damn my heart was torn out of my chest while still beating!
But in typical Christine style it is all explained away and put back together with an AMAZING HAPPY EVER AFTER!
I know I have told you all jack shit about the story but that is because there are so many turns and new characters and plot twists that I want to keep everything a surprise.
Just please PLEASE read these 2 books!
Now I REALLY love this ending so please for the love of god don’t give me another book!!
I think that’s the first time I have ever said that but I am 100129% in love with this ending. Everyone gets one and no one fucking died!
I really enjoyed book 1 of this series, but THIS BOOK is marvelous. Mar-vel-ous! Ripped my heart apart several times. But, I couldn't put it down and so glad that I didn't.
It was my pleasure to beta read this book. And I Highly recommend it!!
Minor Spoilers(if you have not read book #1 The Light In The Wound, a part of this review can be considered a small spoiler) -mature content reader discretion is advised. 4.5 STARS out of 5 Genre: Contemporary Romance
“I have not broken your heart – you have broken it; and in breaking it, you have broken mine.” —Emily Bronte
This was not an easy read, Christine Brae dug deep and left pieces of her heart on every page.
His Wounded Light will show you without a doubt that love can bring us together and it can sure as hell tear us apart when hit with life altering moments.
“I’m going to spend every night of my life kissing away your memories of him. I’m going to find places he never touched, places he never kissed, and our first times will be a thousand times sweeter than your first times with him. Isabel, you are the love of my life.” —Alex to Isabel, The Light in the Wound
When I first met Isa(Isabel) in The Light In The Wound she was in bed with one man, Jesse, while she planned to marry another man, Alex, the next day. And she did, she married Alex and was happily married. When His Wounded Light opens Alex and Isabel are in Paris celebrating their 12yr wedding anniversary.
Told in three parts Joy, Love and Pain and not in any particular order. Given in three pov’s Alex, Jesse and Isa’s in that order. His Wounded Light takes twist and turns that I never expected.
My perfect family. My perfect life. -Alex
Alex and Isabel are happily married raising their two children. Each are successful in their own right. Their love radiates off the pages and it is truly beautiful. You know without a doubt there is nothing he won’t do for her and she for him.
While I listen to the sweet sound of her voice and feel the weight of her body on me, I’m once again struck with desire for her. I want her. Now. I want her when we’re alone. I want her when we’re not. - Alex
However we all know love can be tested.
“Isa, when we see each other again, whether it’s tomorrow or next week or years and years from now. Whenever you see me. Look into my eyes from across the room wherever I am, wherever you are, and know that I LOVE… YOU. That’s never going to change. Look into my eyes now and feel it. It will always be only you, no matter what, no matter when.” —Jesse to Isabel, The Light in the Wound
Jesse is Isabel’s ex, and he is still deeply in love with her and all he wants is his chance to prove that they are meant to be.
--But are they meant to be or is Alex he true love?
--Is anything strong enough to penetrate the love Alex and Isa have for one another?
--And if so what role will they each play in it?
You can lose yourself a million times over, but your heart will always know who you are. In every wound and place of emptiness, love provides a light that guides you through the darkness. It relentlessly seeks you out and stops at nothing to find you. Love always finds you. And when it does, it will bring you home. -Isa
The Story is very emotional I had to put the book down at one point while reading. It’s safe to say that I am very invested in these characters. By giving readers a panorama view with all three pov’s we get to know what Alex, Isa and Jesse are thinking and feeling and I FELT their PAIN.
My Sweet and Sour The Sweet – Well that’s easy L O V E, in every measure! Plus all the HOT SEX Alex and Isa had! I’m Team Alex people!!!
The Sour – A character
My Thoughts His Wounded Light proves that love never fails even if the people we love do. Do not feel mislead by my review, this is not a love triangle romance..well..not exactly. And unfortunately I cannot give clear details without spoiling the book. The Writing – Brae, had a lot more sex in this book then the previous and I loved it!!LOL! Aside from that her growth was evident as she took unexpected risks with her characters. She also took the time to delve in to their actions and the reasons behind them. Overall - Christine Brae did an AWESOME job.
I highly recommend this series to romance readers!
My Ratings Characters- Lovable and Heartbreaking Writing Style- Solid, Honest and Sincere Plot/Storyline- Finding Love again Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy Overall- I enjoyed it! READ THE BOOK!

On one hand I obviously loved the book a ton because I devoured it in a day or so, every time I had to put the book down I was a little annoyed at life because I just wanted to keep on reading. But.. on the other, I hated to read so much of it because I hated the direction that the book went in.
"My world is complete. Me, her, the children, this bathroom. She's my shelter, the keeper of my heart."
I absolutely fell in love with The Light in the Wound and was so happy with how it ended. In my eyes, Alex and Isa were perfect for each other and I was so happy that after their struggles and pain, they got to have their HAE. I didn't really feel sorry for Jesse, I never liked his character so much, but I was happy for him to get his own book and story.. I wanted him to find happiness elsewhere and I ended up looking forward to that story.
So where the hell was it?
I'm so confused.. I was sure this was supposed to be Jesse's book. I wanted his story, I wanted his happiness and HAE.. I didn't want that to interfere with the happy life that Alex and Isa had created. That wasn't cool with me. I felt like so much of this story was way too uncomfortable for me to read. I really didn't like what happened.
I don't want to spoil anything for other readers, so I won't reveal the plot, but I just didn't like it. The first 30% or so I loved, I loved reading about how happy Alex and Isa were.. but then things took a turn for the bad and it was painful. The characters, some understandably so, took on such a drastic change of character that I found myself wondering who I was reading about. I didn't recognise Isa, Alex or Jesse.
The ending.. I was happy with, eventually, but I felt like in all honesty the whole book was a little unnecessary. I don't know why Alex and Isa had to go through more pain, why Jesse had to come back in order to find his own HAE, and more importantly, I don't know, even though we still have the ending I wanted, I had to read through a lot of uncomfortable scenes to get there.. again. It was a little bit much for me and I'm pretty disappointed.
I'm an Alex girl...but can I say I might have been a little bit of a Jesse's girl while reading this book? Watch out! ;)
MO-THER-FUCK-ING HOMERUN! ;)
5 Healing Stars! If there ever was a book for me to be biased about, it’s this one. However, while there are definite elements that I was deeply involved with, I had a much different perspective and reaction to this story than The Light in the Wound. Instead of the protective instincts I had over Isa about her past, this was a future yet to be written and it stirred different emotions. In a way, less personal to me, and yet, I still had that deep love for the characters.
Now, I loved The Light in the Wound, but His Wounded Light took Christine’s writing skills to another level. If possible, I loved this one even more. The characters have matured and lived more life. I found myself angry at characters I loved and loving characters I wasn’t fond of. It’s a story I believe a lot of people will relate to, not the actual circumstances, but the stages in life and feelings that come with it.
I have seen a few that are afraid of what may happen in this book. Don’t be. It is a beautiful story. One that needed to be told to bring completion to a set of characters that so many have grown to love and hold in their hearts. You won’t be disappointed no matter which way you bend.
Keep writing Christine. Can’t wait to see what is up your sleeves. But, relax a while. You deserve it. We will still be here.
“I have not broken your heart – you have broken it; and in breaking it, you have broken mine.” —Emily Bronte
Minor spoilers ahead. Do not read if you have not read "The Light in the Wound."
I literally felt like tip toeing into this book after the massacre on my emotions that was the first book...in a good way, of course! :) I just wanted to hold this couple in a safe little cocoon and protect them from anything bad happening to them!
The book starts out with another elusive prologue, much like the first, that is a small excerpt from a much later scene in the book, that immediately rips your heart out! And this time, I was positive....POSITIVE, that I guessed it right...100%!! Well, guess what? Wrong again! YEP! She does it again!!
After THAT, we get to delve into the story with a very happy, very functional, and VERY much in love Isa and Alex in Paris celebrating their 12th wedding anniversary. I absolutely loved the first 30% of the book. It was sweet, calm, and many times, it gave me the warm and fuzzies all over. Once again, Christine does an amazing job at creating a slow burn, giving us happy, fluffy, cupcakes and unicorns with these characters that we have come to love, while slowly creating a storm that you cannot ignore. It was a tiny bit slow for me, early on, while we are reading about their every day lives but fret not, and stick with it!! Oh, and by the way? Some of these happy cupcakes were STEAMING HOT ones between these two that I loved to read!!
And then all of a sudden.......BAM!!!!!!! OMG! EVERYTHING gets turned completely upside down in this book. I had a few ideas and assumptions as to what may go down in the second book, but let me tell you, NOTHING could have prepared me for all that took place. My heart was ripped out!
"We're only a few feet apart from each other, but our hearts are separated by a thousand miles."
**Tiny spoiler** - Please know that Jesse does NOT play a role in this turn of events. I kept worrying about this so I thought it was important to note.
This book was, in no way, predictable. Once this turn of events ensued, I absolutely could NOT put this book down. I definitely found this book to be a bit darker than the first one, which only made me love it even more. These characters have all grown up and we see them experience some excruciating life events in this story. Sometimes they handle them well...sometimes, not so much.
We get three points of view: Alex, Jesse's, and Isa's...in that order. This couldn't have been more perfect. And I will tell you, getting to be in Jesse's head made me forgive him for everything that he might've done in the first book. I sympathized for him and I was hopeful for him that he would somehow find his happiness.
"The are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth...not going all the way and not starting." -Buddha
"You can be surrounded by everything you want in your life and still be the saddest person in the world. - Isabel
If you are as invested in this story and in these characters as I have become, then this will be another VERY emotional read for you. It is heart-breaking at times. You will FEEL all of their pain right along with them!
Once again, some questions that we were asking ourselves not too long ago re-surface.
Who is the right one for Isa? At many times throughout this book, my own answer to this question really was, both of them. But by the end, there is a clear cut answer.
Can her and Alex's love withstand anything that the future may hold?
What role is Jesse meant to play in her life? Friend? Lover? Nothing?
It all gets answered and soooooo much more.
Ok, now here is the part of the review that I have dedicated to a new character that you will all have the pleasure of meeting... LUCAS MARTINEZ!!! Oh, Holy Mary mother of sweet baby Jesus!!! Halleluiah! I will not tell you the role that he plays in this book. I will just tell you that he is DRIPPING hot, sex appeal....hold up....let me have a moment to reflect.
Mmmmmm...Oh, yeah.. and he is the main character in Christine's next book!!
OK, where were we?
To say that I was left with a book hangover after finishing this book would be a HUGE understatement. Yes, it puts you through the ringer but OMG is it 1000% worth it!!! There is a warm, overriding message of love and forgiveness, through the story and through the quotes interlaced beautifully throughout the book. The ending is going to go down as one of my all time favorite endings, ever! I will not say a word about it. Just know that all three of these character get their own epilogue, and it is beautiful!!
You can lose yourself a million times over, but your heart will always know who you are. In every wound and place of emptiness, love provides a light that guides you through the darkness. It relentlessly seeks you out and stops at nothing to find you. Love always finds you. And when it does, it will bring you home. -Isa
My favorite part about this series was the writing. It had a tender, emotional, heart-felt quality to it that made the story feel so real. I can honestly say that I fell in love with these characters and will miss them. This was a perfect sequel to an amazing series! I am so glad that I was lucky enough to be able to read it!!
I will definitely be stalking Christine's work from now on!

This MUST READ story evoked a myriad of emotions so brace yourselves!
Each of these characters—Isa, Alex, Jesse—weren’t just people on a page. To me they were real. They worked their way into my heart until I couldn’t stop thinking about them.
Two days later I am still sitting here trying to work out how to tell you how absolutely amazing this story is, and how utterly absorbing, and all without giving anything away! How do I give this incredible journey justice?
I’ll start by saying Christine Brae is a genius. It’s that simple really. I am SHOUTING her name from the rooftops because if it’s one thing I appreciate, it’s an author who can make you feel and she managed to do that for me so.damn.easily.
If you want happy, sunshiney rainbows and unicorns, this is not the book for you. Alex, Isa and Jesse’s journey is far from over and reaching the end is going to wreck you, but in the best kind of way. I felt so much—joy, agony, grief, betrayal. This is a work of fiction but you can sense an injection of truth which makes the story come alive. THIS is real life. This is about appreciating the darker parts of life in order to truly appreciate the lighter parts.
At the end, I’m still Team Undecided. I sit on the fence, in between Team Alex and Team Jesse, because both men were always meant to be hers. Each in their own way. Sometimes love, first love, isn’t enough, but Jesse loved Isa the best way he knew how, and Alex? He was her SOUL. He made her live, and experience, and feel.
Jesse was her beginning and middle and Alex was supposed to be her end, but will they last forever?
How did I walk away from this series? SATISFIED. This story was Isa, Jesse and Alex’s conclusion. A story that NEEDED to be told and I’m so thankful I experienced it. I got the resolution I was so desperately hoping for.
My hat is off to you Christine Brae for managing to give us three heartfelt people who all won in this journey. Thank you.
Thank you, Christine Brae, for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of His Wounded Light in exchange for my honest opinion.
I absolutely loved The Light In The Wound and was very excited for His Wounded Light. At the end of TLITW, I was #teamjessex. I loved them both for different reasons. I was very excited to have more time with each of these characters. First, let me tell you that Christine Brae knows how to write a prologue! I was HOOKED from the beginning of each book. She really knows how to rock your world with just a few words.
HWL is the journey of 3 people who all share a past and, due to circumstances they cannot control, continue to have their lives cross paths.
Alex loves and cherishes Isa. He is the one who brought her back to the light from the darkness. In the beginning, I did not understand the connection between Isa and Alex. Then, as I continued on their journey, the pieces were unveiled and I had a total "aha" moment. I began to understand the depth of their love for each other and the importance of how they expressed this love.
Jesse has never given up hope that he and Isa will one day be together. He regrets the mistakes he made and is ready to make things right. Reading about Jesse was my favorite part and left me wanting more after it was over. I had so many questions after reading TLITW about Jesse and his reasoning for his life choices. I love him even more after reading HWL.
Isa loves Alex with her heart and soul, but will she give her first love another chance? Who is the best choice for her? Isa sets out on her own journey to find herself and her own happiness. . Be prepared for an intense and emotional roller coaster ride. I was very happy with how each of their lives turned out and with the emotional ending. I shed a lot of tears throughout this book. Overall, I give His Wounded Light 4.5 stars.
This book was amazingly brilliant. I am Team Alex all the way!!
I will admit that I was one of those readers that was happy with just the first book. I had to put myself in the authors mind and sometimes there is just another story to tell or a personal reason to reach our own therapy to help someone else reach their own breakthrough.
I was so nervous starting His Wounded Light especially when I read the Prologue. The author does slam us with some pretty major twists so get prepared. I felt the true heartache, emotions, the passion that the author created to make it happen.
My heart has been pounding through this whole experience of reading and loved it. Get your tissues and chocolate out and be sure you have time to read it through in a whole day.
You will get the chance to see through Isa's, Alex, & Jesse's POV with their own Epilogue. Expect the unexpected and just enjoy the hard work that Christine Brae has written for each of us.
Thank you Christine Brae and for another job well done. ~A member of your FB Street Team Reviews posted on GR and Amazon
The wait was well worth it.....Omg!!! I think I haven't been so happy to read how everything turns out In a novel. I won't say much because I tent to spoil things when I talk . I'll just say that I was sad and pissed at certain turns of events but I understand why they had to happen and why they occur . I loved TLITW (book #1) and was in distress at the end of it because I felt horrible for Jesse . I think Christine BRae did a beautiful job with this novel . I couldn't have picked or imagined a better closure for all the characters . And the sex scenes were way hotter than on TLITW . I truly enjoyed this novel. And loved that it was both Jesse and Alex POV . I loved Isa's epilogue I highlighted the whole last part. Yes it was that good .
How often can you say that a sequel eclipses the first book?!? In my opinion, that is exactly what happened with this book. I loved how the story was told from alternate points of view so we could get into each characters head. The tension and angst that this author creates is magical and kept me on my toes throughout both books. I will definitely read more from her. :)
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Not a word is uttered, not a sound is made. And yet I clearly hear what she’s screaming out lout from her heart.
I’ve never had any doubt; she has always belonged to me.
Head pounding, heart full, the anticipation is finally over. I am going to admit; as much as I BEGGED for an Alex and/or Jess POV book, I was VERY apprehensive going into this one. Loud and proud, I am Team Alex. From the beginning of The Light in the Wound until the very last drop, it was always Alex for me. He put her first, treasured and honored not only her heart, but EVERY part of her. I would have none of the selfishness, controlling nature and all about me attitude from Jesse. No thanks. So to know that they finally had gotten their HEA at the end of book one left me leery of things to come in a new book.
Fate and circumstances-there’s no turning them back once the wheels of life have been set in motion. Nothing you do can change the direction of your destiny. You can influence your future revising your goals and adjusting your purpose, but you can’t chance what is meant to be. We are powerless to fight it; all we do is sustain it. We live for the moments of happiness and joy that are both fleeting and irretrievable.
Firstly let me state; I LOVED the triple POV’s. Christine has a beautiful way of writing that mingles every character without it being overwhelming. You simply can’t tell where one ends and the other begins. For all intents and purposes, this book is split into three parts. The first 25% belongs to Alex, Jesse gets the next 25%, and Issy has the last 50%.
We begin with Alex. Oh Alex, how I love thee. His section was by far my favorite to read. As romance books usually are in the female’s POV I consider it a treat to hear the male’s POV. I had many unanswered questions after the last book because I simply did not know what went through their heads. Putting my fears to rest, I fell in love with him all over again! Whereas TLITW, according to some standards, may have been a little tame sexually, whew…… Grab a fan ya’ll because this one is raunchy! It is H-O-T and I was NOT expecting that. I was more than pleasantly surprised. In fact, I will say it is the BEST surprise I have ever gotten in a book. There is something so erotic in hearing a male’s thoughts whilst in the throes of passion. The delicious part is that Christine doesn’t even get as illicit as I’ve read before. The beautiful way she weaves a scene and inserts you into the play allows you to infer exactly what she is saying without saying it.
I cry because I will always love Alex.
I cry because I no longer know who I am and everything I’ve ever believed in has been a lie.
I cry.
Life isn’t just hearts and flowers for our beloved characters for long though. Tragedy occurs followed by another tragedy and the whole story just tale-spins from there. Hold on to your hats dear reader, for once you read 30%, be prepared to take a ride on the emotional roller-coaster. I don’t believe my heart started beating again until I got to the epilogue (which we will get to in a minute). By this point, we, and when I say we I mean I, have flown through Jesse’s portion. I’ll be honest with you here. Full disclosure; I skimmed a lot of Jesse’s part. I read it; I just didn’t analyze and scrutinize it like I did the rest of the book. A lot of Jesse’s section was flashbacks and explanations for what happened during his years with Isa. By this point, my opinion of him was already formulated and I knew it wouldn’t change. They weren’t meant to be together and no explanation would shed any light on what he had gone through. As I said, I am NOT a Jesse girl.
Before long, we are into Issa’s part and that is when the book REALLY starts to spiral out of control. I’m talking the SHIT hits the proverbial fan, on high velocity! There were so many things that happened in the last half of the book that I NEVER saw coming. It was raw, painful, shocking, heart-wrenching, and full of angst, and I loved EVERY SINGLE SECOND! I could not get enough. Isa is on a path to finally becoming her own woman, finding herself again. The journey that she takes may be unconventional, but that is what it is. HER journey. You don’t know what works for you until you try.
Before I end, a quick word about that epilogue, because we NEED to talk about it. THE BEST one I have EVER read. Just when I thought it was over, another one. And then…..another one. I felt sucker punched throughout the book, but this epilogue healed me faster than any medicine ever could! While I look forward to future writings from CB, I am glad there won’t be any more books. Each character ended up as they should and ALL fans will go away with their cup flowing over. My heart was so FULL of love and it brought tears to my eyes. The perfect ending to a story so personally shared from her soul.
You can lose yourself a million times over, but your heart will always know who you are. In every wound and place of emptiness, love provides a light that guides you through the darkness.
It relentlessly seeks you out and stops at nothing to find you.
Love always finds you.
And when it does, it will bring you home.
While Christine knows how to break your heart don’t worry; she also knows how to put you back together. She knows how to make you wish and hope for something that you never even knew was possible. Whether you are Team Alex or Team Jesse is no matter. Each man has a happy ending all their own. At the end of the day I came to the conclusion that it really didn’t matter; I was now, and forever would be, Team Isa. His Wounded Heart was a love letter from Christine Brae to her fans. To that I say, message received. We <3 you right back! 5 Broken and Healed Stars!

His Wounded Light by Christine Brae Series: TLITW #2 Genre: Contemporary Romance Age Group: Adult Release Date: December 10th 2013 Print Length: 289 pages Steam Rating: Hot Overall Rating: 5 STARS
Review: You must read A Light in the Wound before this novel. Do not read on if you haven’t, it will contain spoilers which will RUIN the first novel for you!
My emotions are running so high from this novel. I am a mess. Yes I would call it a book hangover, but it is so much more. I feel like Christine Brae taught me something in this novel. She showed me so much about love through these characters; how sometimes it is an illusion, and sometimes it is real. But true love perseveres through no matter how much life throws against it. It has its great highs and devastating lows –but is always worth it in the end.
After The Light in the Wound (which I absolutely LOVED), I had so many questions. I was so confused as to my feeling about who I wanted Isa to choose. I mean I loved Alex and my head knew that she needed to choose him, but my heart still loved Jesse. So I was curious to see how this would all play out in His Wounded Light. Isa (and I) needed closure with Jesse. I know Jesse needed closure. And I also knew Alex needed to feel secure in Isa’s love, and that her whole heart belonged to him. I thought this would be an impossible feat for the author. But she met and exceeded all my expectations.
Seriously, Christine Brae’s writing is absolutely phenomenal. She has the ability to make you FEEL these characters, their joy, their love, their confusion, and of course their utter devastation at times. I was in this story, not a bystander reading it. These were my emotions all over the place, not the characters, and I LOVE when an author can bring me so completely into the story.
The prologue, like The Light in the Wound’s, completely shocked the sh*t out of me, and took me out of my comfort zone immediately. It made me aware that there was a ton of storyline ahead, and some of it was going to devastate me. I was hooked…
Then we get a look into the present life and love of Isa and Alex’s marriage. It was such a beautiful, loving, amazing marriage. It was a bit slow early on when we are going through the motions of their everyday life, but stick with it because it is all a necessary part of the storyline. We need to KNOW Alex and Isa’s marriage intimately to understand the rest of the story.
And when tragedy strikes Isa and Alex I was dumbfounded. I couldn’t believe how quickly their life could unravel so completely, how much they would be tested, and if they would make it through it at all. I really can’t get more into the storyline than that, because it would spoil it for you. But know that it will not be easy for any of them: Isa, Alex, or Jesse.
The novel is told from three POV's so we know what each character is going through intimately. We also get three absolutely stunning epilogues... Seriously, I couldn't ask for more in a novel.
In the end what I felt was closure. It was so bittersweet that Christine owes me a full box of tissues. It was not easy to let go of the past to embrace the future. It was not easy to accept certain realities of life and love. But it was made so much easier by the beauty in which it was all portrayed. In the end of His Wounded Light there are no doubts left, and the hearts of Isa, Alex, and Jesse are all filled with strong, enduring love, and closure.
If you have read The Light in the Wound YOU MUST READ His Wounded Light. It is the end of their story. And that fact alone is bittersweet. I already miss them. But even though their story caused me sleepless nights, and red puffy eyes, it was worth every second! I can’t wait to see what Christine Brae comes up with next! Her novels will now have a front of the line pass on my TBR!

This is the sequel to The Light in my Wound….. As you may know The Light in my Wound completely broke me….I was scared to start to read this book as I knew I was going to be broken again….. Christine Brae did not disappoint and completed shattered my heart whilst I ugly cried. This book continues the love triangle of Isobel, Alex and Jesse. I loved that this book gave you the story from all three POV of Alex, Jesse and Isobel. This book picks up the story two years after The Light in my Wound….. Alex and Isobel are happily married with two children…. Jesse is in love with Rose but still living with regrets and what if’s regarding his love for Isobel. I won’t give any spoilers away because again just like The Light in my Wound…. His Wounded Light needs to be read spoiler free for you to fully experience the rollercoaster ride of emotions it will take you on. Just prepare yourself with a box of tissues as you read through this book…. There is heartache, tragedy, love, hope and dreams for all. But, unfortunately Alex, Isobel and Jesse must all break to enable healing and closure from the past so they can move on with their future….. Be it together or part??? I honestly wasn’t sure if I wanted to read this sequel, simply because for me the HEA in The Light in my Wound had healed my broken heart and left me content with how the love triangle of Alex, Isobel and Jesse had ended….. but now that I have read His Wounded Light I am so glad I did because it completed this story in way I didn’t realise I needed it too….. It was simply amazing!! ‘This book, our words, our story is proof of the enduring power of love.’ Yes it re-broke my heart but the closure this gave Alex, Isobel and Jesse enabling them to grow and truly get the future they all deserved…… without spoilers, the ending healed my heart and gave me complete closure on this amazing story. This book kept me gripped from page one, I wasn’t able to put it down as I needed more…… Christine Brae you have done it again…. Simply outstanding…. My words can’t describe how amazing this book is. If you have not read The Wound in my Light… you need to pick it up now and then follow it with His Wounded Light…. They are a MUST READ; just have tissues at the ready!
I enjoyed the debut novel written by Christine Brae, The Light in the Wound. It was intense, full of angst and felt authentic; I even gave it a 4.5 star rating. But to my delight, I was so very excited by the noticeable improvement found in the writing, voice and style in her newly published novel, His Wounded Light!
His Wounded Light continues the story of Isabel Ailey, Alex Ailey and Jesse Cain. Readers only have Isabel's point of view in The Light in the Wound, but Christine Brae made the decision to write His Wounded Light from the points of view of each of the three main characters. I especially enjoyed reading the flashbacks from the point of view of Jesse. I was able to gain a better understanding for reasons behind his decisions and actions which occurred in the first novel. Isa finds herself on a mission of self-discovery, trying to understand who she has become while navigating relationships and dealing with unexpected hardships. I noted strong character development for each of the main characters - Isa, Alex and Jesse.
It was so evident to me that Christine Brae poured her heart and soul into this novel, and this shined through in her writing. I felt strong emotions of joy, grief, sadness, hurt and happiness. I had tears. The lovemaking scenes were refreshing, not typical. The plot was unpredictable. I loved that the plot was unpredictable - a deep, fulfilling and unique story which was so refreshing for me! It was so hard for me to put down this novel when it came time for me to experience my real life! Now more than ever, I highly recommend The Light in the Wound series by Christine Brae! 5 outstanding stars!!
**If you have not read The Light in the Wound, do not read any further. This review will contain spoilers that will ruin the first novel for you So, turn around and grab your copy of The Light in the Wound!**
His Wounded Light is the sequel to The Light in the Wound by the fabulous Christine Brae. She certainly does not disappoint with this sequel. His Wounded Light is told in Isa, Alex and Jesse’s point of views. I connected easily with the characters, allowing each one to tug at my heart strings. His Wounded Light took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. I experienced happiness, laughing every time they felt joy, then plummeted to the depths of despair, as I wiped away relentless tears, crying along with the heartache of the characters. The outcome of events was completely unexpected, and left me in awe.
I am beyond thrilled that Christine decided to write His Wounded Light, because I was filled of questions. I wanted Jesse to have closure and I wanted Alex to know for sure that Isa was his fully. I thought it would have been impossible for Christine to out do The Light in the Wound, but she proved me wrong...way wrong.
First of all the prologue like The Light in the Wound shocked the hell out of me! I was left wondering what the hell happened, and what changed since we last left Isa, Alex and Jesse. Christine has this power to draw you in a leave you wanting more just by her prologues, because you know there are so many more jaw-dropping, tear inducing, ugly cry moments to come.
I am not going to go into details because you will not see some of the twists in this plot, and you need to go in without knowing what is going to hit you. In the end I can tell you His Wounded Light is a must read, and the perfect ending to the story of Isa, Alex and Jesse. Saying goodbye is bittersweet, because I don't want to say goodbye. Christine Brae completely blew me away and provided us with a perfect ending.
This book is so hard to read compared to the first one. I have doubts about this book and it was right to have doubts because, honestly????? I have liked Isa at the most part of book one because she has grown into something stronger and Alex is so swoon worthy that I want to offer myself to him. In this book, I hated him (though, his actions are understandable) and I pitied, at the same time loathed Isa. She became so weak and slightly, slutty! The heck! This book wrenched my heart to pieces and I do not like the ending, . But this is one of the best read for me for all time.
It’s been days already since I’ve finished reading His Wounded Light by Christine Brae and I’m typing in my review just now. Why? Because I have to let everything that happened in this book sink in. Just wow, it totally blew my mind and my emotions away. I actually won’t go into detail with what happened here in this book because I’m quite sure that you’ll want to get a full experience of it once you’re reading it. And I also want you, guys, to experience that same level of happiness, sadness, frustration, regret, pain and everything that I’ve felt while I was reading it. Trust me on this.
Actually, I was really scared to start reading this book. Yes, and I even told Christine about me being scared to dive into this. The Light In The Wound’s ending seems perfect for me already and I’m fully contented with it. But then, Christine has so much to tell about these characters and their lives. So yeah, I was really scared how this one will affect everything because come on… Every Book 2 in a duology, trilogy or series just opens up a whole lot of opportunities to break relationships and let different kinds of drama in.
This book was absolutely fantastic! We open up to the beginning with Alex's point of view of Isa and him in their life together. They celebrate their 12 year anniversary with Alex, and her two beautiful children. We get to see how beautiful their life is together, and then we jump to Isa and her perspective and we see her run into Jesse. Some big plot things and drama occurs, and then we see Jesse's point of view. Throughout the book, Isa has to decide whether she is happy in her life with Alex, or if she wants a new life with her own freedom and different life. What will she choose?
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who has read the first book, but also anyone looking for a good story! Christine Brae has completely captured my attention and my love for these characters, each time that she writes about Isa and her story. I am so lucky to have had a chance to read this story, and you should read it too. Please take it amongst yourself to read this! Her writing allows us to experience Isa, Alex, and Jesse's persectives of what they are going through. It is such a great story, please read it! You won't regret it! Happy Reading!
I loved this sequel to The Light In The Wound. I wanted to know how Isa and Alex's marriage carried on, how did Jesse get on after Isa left, what happened next basically and that is what we got.
There is so much emotion in this book, so much heartache, some of it I related to myself so I could put myself in the person's shoes, I could understand how they were feeling as I felt the same way.
This book opens up emotions and feelings that a lot of people will have dormant inside them, another book that so many people can relate to in every day life.
There is such a struggle in Isa's life in this book and at times I found hard to read because you felt for her so much and the pain, the same with Alex, my heart just broke at times during this book.
Jesse well, he is typical Jesse but you couldn't have the book without him.
I think reading this book you could tell that Isa wanted closure and she got it.
I gave it 5 starts because it relates to so much in so many people lives and also because of the raw emotion in this book. Enjoy

I really didn't know what to expect when I signed up to be a part of this blog tour, I just knew that I LOVED book 1 ( The Light in the Wound) so much I just had to know where this story went. I truly thought the ending to book1 was perfect so I was a little scared as to where Christine Brae would take Alex, Isa and Jesse. Well let me tell you, I think this book actually tops book 1. This book was flawless and the writing was beautiful. There were so many emotions put into this book that my head and heart were all over the place. One minute I was blissfully happy and then the next my heart was being torn out of my body. To me that is what makes a book 5 Stars.
"Love will always persevere no matter what happens in your life, so once you have it, nurture it and never let it go. Through death and loss and damage and lust, love remains faithful and true. It never wavers, it merely waits patiently until you decide to let it in."
That quote totally sums up this story to me. We were taken on such an amazing Journey of life with Isa, Alex and Jesse. I am so glad that this book was written. We got to see how everything turned out. I am not going to discuss the story to much because I don't want to ruin this book for anyone. I did really enjoy that we got a POV from Alex, Isa and Jesse in this book. We got to see what each of them was thinking and feeling as things developed in this story. Throughout this book Alex, Isa and Jesse are all thrown things at them and it was wonderful to see how they handled each situation. I have to say that I think I was pissed at each of the characters at some point in this book. But the way each of them reacted to certain events truly felt like how things could happen in real life. This story truly shows that a love and marriage isn't a sprint but a marathon. You need to work on it everyday to keep it strong and thriving. I loved the character that Isa finally became by the end of the story…she did make some really poor judgement calls in this book and that is the one reason I was mad at her, but by the end I see why she needed to make those decisions. As for Alex and Jesse….I will always be Team Alex, but I will say he disappointed me quite a bit in this book. Something happens to him and it breaks his spirit…but I do understand why he reacted the way he did….in the end it made him open his eyes and realize what he has. Jesse was a totally different person in this book…I loved who he turned out to be. I thought the Jesse from book 1 was a very selfish man and I thought he would never overcome that, well I was wrong….the man he turned out to be in this book is someone my heart could open up too. I was happy to see how his story ended.
I really enjoyed seeing more of Isa's sisters in this book…I got the true sense of family in this story.
I really don't think my review can truly do this book the justice it deserves. I would definitely recommend this book/series to everyone. If you are looking for that love story that will pull at your heartstrings…this is the book for you. I will say that if you have read The Light in the Wound then this book is a MUST READ!!!!!! You need to find out how their story plays out. If you haven't yet experienced Alex, Isa and Jesse…..then what are you waiting for???
So just when I thought "The Light in the Wound" was a great read, I was blown away by "His Wounded Light." I felt like this story flowed effortlessly compared to the first book. The characters were already well developed and so all Christine had to do now was share their story.
"His Wounded Light" starts off with Alex and Isa living in matrimonial bliss! They have come so far over the last decade and have a beautiful family. There is still tension from the Jesse situation at times, but they are happy and blessed with what they have in life. Unfortunately when things are too good to be true for awhile, something bad is always bound to happen.
Alex and Isa's love is tested after an accident that changes their lives. Sometimes pride gets the best of a man and blinds him from what really matters in his life. Isa is even stronger in my opinion in this book, and no matter what he says or does to drive her away she wants to stand strong my his side. Unfortunately, sometimes things happen that we cannot come back from and a line is eventually drawn. Can Isa recover the pieces of her shattered heart and forgive Alex? Can Alex get over his pride and realize there is nobody else out there for his wife? Does a heart really know where it belongs and truly lie with one person for all our lives?
I immensely enjoyed following Isa, Alex, and Jesse's story! This book really summed up Isa and Jesse's relationship and where they stand after over a decade of pain. Alex and Isa's relationship is displayed beautifully and their pain absolutely tore me to shreds. I believe I have said it before, but Christine really has a way of putting the reader in the character's soul and I felt EVERYTHING!! Even their heart's healing and finding myself when they were finding themselves. I grieved with them and cried for them and at the end I rejoiced for their victories. Due to the emotional impact this story gave me, and the well rounded finish to these character's story, I have to give this book a 5 star rating! I am sad to see this series end, but look forward to what Christine Brae has for me to read in the future!
4.5 stars. I liked this sequel a bit more than the first book, which rarely happens. This one was equally as angsty (and more emotional), but I wasn't as exasperated as I was during the first book and there was more character growth. Good writing and story flow - the alternate POVs in the three sections worked for me. Will definitely read her next book.
***Read my review of THE LIGHT IN THE WOUND- book 1 in the series HERE. You must read book 1 first***
Son. of. a. bitch.
Ok- I don't even know what I am feeling right now. I couldn't put this book down. But there were so many times where I was like:
So when we left Alex and Isa they were so happy. Everything was perfect. There were literally times during His Wounded Light where I was upset this story was even happening because it tore me apart. Like why CBrae- why would you rock their perfect little world like this?
So the first half of the book was in Alex's POV and I loved being there. Normally Alex would be what I like to refer to as a mangina. He is totally whipped. But I don't care. I love him. Team Alex all day everyday.
So we're just going along, all happy and in love and having great sex and then CBrae decides to fuck with our entire world and some major shit happens. Like major shit. And I cannot tell you cause it will spoil things.
From the synopsis, you can guess that stupid Jesse Cain is back. BUT as much as I hated him in TLITW, I didn't hate him as much here. He was still stupid as all fuck ( all I'm gonna say is Rose) but I liked him a lot more and he had clearly grown up so he sort of redeems himself. The 2nd part of the book is told from his POV and it's probably helpful to be in his head. We also saw some of what he went through in book 1 and while it didn't change my opinion of him then, it did show how deep his love for Isa was.
I was all prepared to hate Isa thinking she was going to fuck everything up and run to Jesse for some stupid reason. But she totes didn't and for that I was grateful.
The last part of the book was in her POV view and that was a great way to wrap up the story. We needed to be in her head. We needed to see her downward spiral and her desire to pick her self back up. She was stronger in this book, even when she was weak. And she understood the difference between her love for Jesse, love for Alex and love in general. I really ended up liking her a lot and sympathizing with her on a lot of things. She deserved better than she was getting and even better than she thought she deserved at times.
Maybe the reason this book made me so mad was because for the first time ever, I was so damn mad at Alex. Like I even hated him a little. And I HATED feeling that way about my lover. I was just like:
Again, CBrae has taken a story that by all accounts, I shouldn't like and made it so damn interesting that I can't help but read it.
The end of this book was again, perfection. The epilogue gave us all the HEAs we could ever want and they were in 3 POVs- Isa, Jesse and Alex which was nice.
So in conclusion, this book is great. It really is. But it will make you want to throw stuff. A lot. Like you will be so damn angry. In the end it was a great read but even now, I am sitting here wishing the pain they felt never had to happen. I know they are characters in a book but the pain was so real and I didn't want them to have to feel it. But hey- I guess that is what makes it a great book.
