Gabrielle Craig Lord is an Australian writer who has been described as Australia's first lady of crime.
She survived being ‘razed’ by the nuns, acquired an education despite this, and after working in many different areas, sales, teaching, brick-cleaning, peach-picking and packing, and in the Public Service as an employment officer, started writing seriously aged 30.
Her first two manuscripts ended up composting the tomatoes at her market garden – another attempt to make a living – but the third one FORTRESS was picked up internationally and made into a feature film starring Rachel Ward. A later novel WHIPPING BOY was made into a telemovie starring Sigrid Thornton. The film rights money, coinciding with her daughter leaving school, allowed Gabrielle to resign and instead of getting up at 4.30am and writing for several hours before heading off for work, she could write full-time and lead a more ‘normal’ writer’s life – hanging around with scientists and detectives, badgering forensic anthropologists (she studied some Anatomy at Sydney university) and doing work experience with a busy private security business and of course, writing.
Research is everything, she says. ‘Out of my contacts with experts (who are always far too modest to describe themselves that way) I get not only the fine-tuning necessary for today’s savvy readers, but also wonderful incidents and images that enrich and enlarge my books.’
Gabrielle’s interests are very simple. ‘After a misspent youth, I don’t have many brain cells left so I enjoy walking, meditation, singing, gardening, chatting with close friends, being with my family and grandkids, feeding my goldfish and keeping up to date with bodywork and enlightened psychotherapy.’
Gabrielle has now written fourteen adult novels and a novel for young adults. Once the 12 books of Conspiracy 365 are completed, this tally will be a tad bigger! Following this mammoth endeavour she already has plans for another three adult novels and two more YAs. 2013
Still a little unbelievable, but a good way to end this story arc. I liked that by working together they figured things out. Ryan did drive me nuts at times with how insecure he was and it ended up putting him in danger.
No actual painful stuff happening to Ryan except for the sprained ankle at the beginning of the series, mostly just threats and being in the path of danger.
I mean, Cal's worry was fine, but I wanted HAYWIRE level. Again, Ryan was the side character because everything is about Cal. Still didn't get the level of Ryan I wanted. Missed opportunity there, Gabrielle Lord.
Wasn't planning on finishing it this quickly, but there it is. Back to the high octane awesomeness of the original series. Little bit of a tie between Sligo and Damien for scariest villain.
No more adventures for Cal--he's had enough of those to last a lifetime. Now he's going to live a normal, mundane life, get his pilot's license and fly people from A to B and be perfectly happy. Ryan strikes me as the type who travels the world climbing ALL the mountains. I guess the resentment bit in Hunted was them "talking", but they never REALLY finished that conversation and I wanted to see that. I love watching heart-to-hearts. Another missed opportunity.

Conspiracy 365 Endgame by Gabrielle Lord take place in present day london, Geneva, and Australia. The protagonist is Callum Ormond and his friend Boges. Callums brother Ryan was kidnapped by a mad scientist named Damien Thourogood. Damien will make Callum go through a series of crimes for Callum to save his brother. The main plot of the book was decent. The book started off fast paced and took a while to get to the main plot of the book. But, besides that it was good. Readers that like action and mystery should get this book. The author Gabrielle Lord does a good job at tying in the two themes.
What an enjoyable ending to the series. I do enjoy Cal and his brother Ryan. It was fun to see them work together and accomplish the goal of the story. Boges is still my favorite character and I think he was under used in this series. But everything came together and I am glad to have read the series.
This is definitely a book for a youth and one that is a lover of adventures.
Endgame Conspiracy 365 Black Ops is the seventeenth book in the Conspiracy 365 series by Australian author Gabrielle Lord, and the third in the Black Ops trilogy. As volcanic ash and debris rain down on the beach at Shadow Island, Cal manages to rescue Ryan from Damien’s clutches, and before long the imprisoned children, the rebels, “Dr Freeman” and the rescue crew from SI6 escape the Island. Things continue in an often fantastic, occasionally unbelievable and usually unimaginable manner from then on: it is easy to see how these books appeal to youth readers. In this instalment, Cal and Ryan encounter the volcanic ash and debris from an erupting volcano, dangerous rocks in rough seas, the risk of Irukandji jellyfish, a great white shark, a megalomaniac bent on holding the world to ransom and a robotic cat. There is a sinking submersible, a seaplane rescue, impromptu surgery, a flight in a Lear Jet, a kidnap (or two), blackmail, fake passports, holographic eyes and mod bots. The action takes place on Shadow Island, in Richmond, London and Geneva. Boges provides technical expertise and Winter, general common sense. The Ormond’s deadly nemesis, Oriana de la Force, makes an unwelcome reappearance. Some editions feature a lenticular panel giving the cover a 3D look. In keeping with the countdown theme, the pages run in reverse order and the chapter headings count down the days remaining. There are several gripping climaxes before the series is finally wrapped up. Fantastic!
I loved it it had a great storyline and I love the betrayal of SI-6 it was v great from beginning to end the only problem is that it drags on some parts that's why it gets 4/5 from me(:
