#1 Kindle bestselling author Jack Elgos presents... The Killer III: The Final Reckoning

In the conclusion of this epic trilogy, The Killer III: The Final Reckoning sees former IRA hitman Darren McCann seeking vengeance for the brutal murder of his Ma. Now going under the name of Liam O’Neil and working for the British Government, Liam knows he is ultimately just a pawn between the IRA and the Brits, and dreams of taking his Catalan mistress Montse out of the reach of both. However this dream must be put on hold until the men who signed his Ma's death warrant are killed. His quest takes him back to old comrades in the Basque terrorist training camps, his Irish homeland and military bases in the UK.

In his inimitable style, Elgos captures the political and human aspects of The Troubles in a fast-paced Pulp-Fiction style novel, while painting believable and likeable characters that draws the reader in from page one.

You know when you're reading a good book when a bookmark is rarely used, if at all, or you notice with horror that the percentage read on your eReader is racing towards 100% far too quickly.
Such is the case with this trilogy of unputdownable pulp fiction at it's very best. The plot behind these books is a simple story of revenge. Darren McCann grew up on the troubled streets of Belfast in the 70s where he learned to fight and where he got rather good at inflicting violence, so much so that the IRA wanted to recruit him. Young Darren wanted nothing to do with the cause until his Ma was brutally murdered....and here the tale of revenge begins. Darren's journey through these 3 books is very violent but also very, very funny. The characters are larger than life but not so much that they appear unbelievable. The same can be said for the adventures that Darren finds himself having (including a bank robbery with ETA and jail breaks in Spain).
Darren is brutal but likeable and you find yourself rooting for him in all his escapades although you know you shouldn't be.
This last book finds Darren getting closer to exacting the retribution he has longed for for so many years....but you'll have to read the book to see if was successful!

Really liked this trilogy - but didn’t like the ending. Felt like for once the Irish were going to win but just like history - the Irishman was manipulated by the British and in the end killed by the British. However, I am holding out that in Killer IV (Hint Hint Author) we find out that because of that indomitable Irish will to live Liam finds the strength to get help and is able to not only recoup with the care of Montse and Ms Rosa - The Butcher of Belfast is able to seek out Gates and exact his revenge

I've read the entire trilogy in about 4 days. This is definitely a page turner.

Darren McCann is from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He promised his Ma that he would not get involved with the IRA. That is, until his Ma was brutally beaten up & murdered. He believed it was the Proddy's that killed her so he joined the IRA and became known as the Butcher of Belfast. He has to hide out for a while so he goes to Spain (Basque area, really) to stay with ETA terrorists. These terrorists, Mamma Rosa and friends, become his family. While in Spain, his cover is broken and he is kidnapped and sent back to Britain...to jail, specifically The Maze. The prison warden is out for vengeance and almost kills him until he is "rescued" by Mr Turner. He is "turned". Yes, turned by Mr Turner. He now works for MI5 as an assassin. End of Book I. Chapter 1 may seem out of place but it's a prelude to what happens in book 3 and the entire chapter is presented in book 3. It's the beginning of the end.

McCann is now called Liam O'Neill and his goal is to kill the IRA men who wrote the order to kill his Ma. However, that will come in time. As an MI5 assassin, he has to follow protocol and orders. His first job is to kill two of the American financiers of the IRA. While in New York, he befriends a street gang called the Druids. O'Neill only gets one kill and has to return to England. He kills two of the four IRA Committee men responsible for his Ma's death. He also returns to Spain and meets his love: Montse. Again, while in Spain, the Guardia Civil arrest him and hand him over to the British and Mr Turner. End of book 2.

McCann/O'Neill wants out of his contract with MI5 and live with his Montse. He has a plan to move to America with the help of the Druids. He obtains a fake passport using the name Jose Luis Agea without MI5 knowing (or did they know?). He kills the last two men who signed his Ma's death warrant, but learns there may be one more, maybe.

Great story except I didn't like the ending which is why I rated book 3 with 3 stars.

Third book of the Killer series. This one gets an extra star for the twist at the end. Well done.
