Keegan Bishop, championship skier, is almost injured in a dangerous trap set for one of his teammates. Snowboard tracks leading away from the trap are the only clue as to who might be responsible. Keegan teaches himself to snowboard so he can find the culprit on the snowboarding slopes. When Keegan discovers that someone has been stealing snowboards and skis at Bear Mountain resort, and the girl he's just met is somehow involved, he must face his fears and test his new snowboarding skills in a run for safety.
This book is full of action and mystery. I could see this book being used as a read-aloud in class because a lot of students probably have not experienced snowing or skiing, so it would be good to help students visualize this. It is also a book that keeps your attention and keeps you wanting more so reading this in class would get students excited for this part of the day if they really get into the story.
I am in the middle reading this book, but so far, I am hooked. I like mysteries and I like reading books about sports and this book has both. I really like the main character, Keegan Bishop because you can relate to him. He talks about his fears and isn't afraid to keep trying and he keeps going. I really can't put the book down and I keep reading because I have to know what happens next.
Used this book for my reading students. It was a fun read for them and still intriguing because almost none of them have been snowboarding or skiing before.
He is rushing down the hill as fast as he has ever gone before, he knew he was going to break his record, but then he saw a black wire stretched between two trees and he knew he was in trouble. In the book “Wired” Keegan is the main character but there are multiple other characters that play a big role. In the book “Wired” it shows that even if someone looks like a bad guy, sometimes they are a good person just undercover. Keegan met a nice cute girl named Cassie but as she left he noticed she's with some guys that are stealing things. Keegan says, “Your dad's a detective Cassie? You're not part of this ?” This is showing that Keegan thought Cassie was part of the stealing not trying to get them caught. This book also shows that if you think something is suspicious take pictures on your phone, and if you think someone is going to look at your phone send them to someone you trust. Keegan took pictures of the guys and Cassie switching the snowboards for cash at a gas station and took pictures. After that he knew he was in trouble so he sent them to his best friend and threw his phone. Cassie says, “There is no way we are going to find your phone it is in 10 feet of snow” then Keegan says,”Maybe not, but I sent the photos in a text message to a guy named Joe Hardy.” This shows that he saved the case in the mystery by sending that text message so the criminals would get caught with proof. So if you think you can help and want to help, make an effort towards it and actually do it without chickening out. This books shows many many different life lessons but the main two are, do the goods in life and you will live happier and suspicion is good, especially if you figure something out that is good for everyone but the criminals.
Sliding, gliding, going so fast you could think you're going to fall off of your track. Kegan Bishop is a downhill skier. Kegan is one of the big time racers on the mountain that he lives by. Kegan is very nervous about his next race that he has in about five minutes. “ Kegan, don't worry about it just do you thing and you'll win.” Said his coach Steve. Three, two, one, and Kegan took off for the bottom of the hill. The race was going good until he say a wire tied between two trees. He tried to duck but he just barely hit the wire. “ that wire could have cut me in half as fast as I was going” said Kegan. Than he saw someone coming down the hill and he was yelling at her but she didn't hear her. She hit the wire. She thought he put the wire up himself to get other people and she was not happy at all. The next day Kegan saw that girl taking over people's snowboards so he started spying on her. He found out that her and some other guys were the ones taking the snowboards. Kegan found the group on top of the mountain and he was going to call the security guards but then they said they would push the him down the hill but he called and took off down the hill. The guys started to chase him and Kegan broke his two ankles because he was riding a snowboard and he has never rode one of those before. The bad guys got caught, but Kegan can't ski for a while with his broken ankles.

The title of the book i read for April book review is called Wired. The author is Sigmund Brouwer.
The book wired is about a snowboarder named Keegan is going in a race but on his way down he saw a wire and didnt kno what to do. He was going thirty meters per second and had no way to stop! He ducked and luckily missed it! A girl who came about 10 min after him was coming down but Keegan was trying to cut the wire but he couldnt completly get it, she hit it but luckily it was almost off so it didnt rally hurt her. While Keegan and the girl Cassie tryed to figure out who put that there, Keegan finds some info about Cassie that makes him suspicicouse.
The best thing about the book is the whole plot line. It is a mystery and makes u nervous about what is gonna happen next.
The thing i dislike about the book is how the ending was it made it to obvoiuse what was gonna happen.
The setting takes place at a ski resort. The setting is intersesting because it talkes about differnt wether and winds. Also it reminds me of the ski trip so it makes it more easier to see what is actually happening in the book.
Wired is about a very good skier named Keegan. The book doesn’t take long to “heat” up, so Keegan was almost injured in a trap that was set up, but the trap wasn’t set up for Keegan it was set up for a teammate. So the tracks that were leading away from the trap lead to the snowboarding slopes. So Keegan decided to learn how to snowboard so he could try to find out who set the trap. I wasn’t really into this book; I think it was a bit childish. I did enjoy that it didn’t take a long time to get into the main idea because I hate it when books and movies just drag on for too long and I just lose focus and stop reading/watching depending on the situation. I honestly feel like I should rate this book in between 2-3 stars because it was definitely not the greatest book I read. The reason I didn’t just quit reading the book is because I don’t like to read half a book and stop reading because I don’t enjoy it anymore. I thought it was going to be a good book so I didn’t just stop when I had doubts and by the time I realized the book wasn’t going to turn out a good book, it was too late for me to just stop reading and pick a different book.
i would give wired three stars out of five because it was good but not great. it was kind of boring.
the book wired starts off with a nervous teenager about to skier. when he starts his slope he runs into a wire but just manages to duck in time before getting sliced in two pieces. then the rest of the book follows up on a wild goose chase to figure out who put the wire there and tried to injure multiple people.
Keegan is a nervous and curious teenager. Keegan is a great skier and he is the main character of the book. Keegan had a awful childhood experience and it traumatizes him on the slopes. Cassie is the next main character. Cassie is sassy, nice, and curious as well as Keegan. Cassie was sassy to Keegan at first and i think she is with most people she meets. Also i think she is a little mysterious at times.
i think the writing style was okay i was confused because it hops around a lot. the plot was good but for a book there should have been more to it. the book seemed shorter than it was because not much happened…
i recommend this book for people who like mysteries and skiing. if you’re a fast reader you will get through this book in a day it is very short.
I thought that this book was alot diffrent than I thought that it was going to be. I was a good book that had alot twistes, and I just didn't know what was going to happen next. This book had alot of details about the setting and i felt like I was actually there. It was a very good mystery book and it had an ok plot. This book is about a kid named Keegan that is on a high school ski team and he is one of the best skiiers in the nation. While on a timed run going down a trail at about 75 mph he knowed that there was a wire that he was about to hit and diverted out of the way just in time so it wouldn't cut him into two. Keegan figures out that this wire wasn't there on accident but on purpose, after meeting a girl named Cassie, that help him figure this out. He ends up going into something that was bigger than just the wire, and ends up putting his life on the line. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars beccause it had some action but not enough. I think if you want to read a short good book than you should read this one.
My opinion on the book is very high. I liked the book a lot, because it kept me on my toes. There was always something going on, no boring parts. I also liked how the author worded his words, because it’s read from Keegan’s point of view, to figure out who tied the barb wire to the two trees.
One of the connections I had with the book is when Cassie was skiing and ran into a barb wire fence. This happened to me when I was snowboarding and I ran into a barb wire fence. Another connection I had with the book was when Keegan was trying to find out who set the barb wire trap. I was trying to figure out who threw a snowball at me, that caused me to hit the barb wire fence.
My interpretation of the book is the fact that I liked how the author wrote the book, it was easy to read and understand what's going on throughout the book.
My recommendation of the book is towards people who liked mystery, because Keegan has to find out the person who set the barb wire trap.
Keegan was going to ski, when he found a wire, tangled to two trees. When a girl called Carlie, comes and she thinks that the he is the one that did this. But after he explains she understands. Then a series of mysterious things happen and Keegan starts being a detective. He discovers what happens and then everything goes back to normal.
I would not be friend with any of them. I don’t really like to risk my life for nothing, and I don’t want people to think that I’m part of a gangster or anything.
I really liked the book. There is a lot of suspense and you can’t really expect what is going to happen.
This book was just right to read, it was kind-of easy. I recommend this book to my friends. I did not read any similar book.
Although this book was a quick read for me, i enjoyed it all the same. Despite the fact of the main characters deep secret that he can never tell anybody, he is a down hill ski racer and the best at his lodge when one day on a timed trial for his team he gets almost killed by a thick wire in the middle of the slope. During the rest of the story, he decides to find out who set up the wire, but soon figures out he is in for more than he bargained for and has to continually get over his secret again and again to solve the mystery. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes he mystery or realistic fiction genre but pearsonally the book had alot of spelling errors but you understand what the author is trying to say. hope you like it though, happy reading.
I thught the book was very good. if you asked me it was a action mystery genere. at first I liked cassie because she seamed nice to keegan. then when she started hanging out with sid I thought she was apart of the bad guys and I didn't like. then at the end when she helped out keegan I liked her again. my favorite part wwas at the very end when keegan wassnowboarding at night getting away from the bad guys and then got knocked out. my next favorite part was when keegan was in a car chase with chet driving him. I don't want to spoil the book to much incase you would like to read it. that is my rook reveiw on Wired by Sigmud Brouwer
Aimed at middle grade or young, young adult readers, Wired is a mystery that takes place in and around a ski resort named Big Bear. Keegan is a very talented snowboarder who stumbles onto a case of stolen gear. He's mixed up with a girl who has secrets that point to her involvement in the crimes.
Brouwer has written a solid book with a good mix of sports action and suspense that will appeal to the targeted age range. It would likely even hook reluctant readers who have an interest in sports, especially alpine pursuits.
If you have a child who is nearly into or has just entered the teen years, it's a good bet that they'd enjoy this story.
I think this book was very interesting. The most interesting part to me was when Cassie punched Keegan in the face because she thought he tied the wire. This book was mostly how a boy named Keegan did a time trial for his snowbaording team and thier was a wire hanging from the waist of two trees. Keegan tried to untie the rope so the other snowboarders wouldn't get hurt. But he couldn't do it in time and a girl named Cassie got hurt. Cassie and Keegan tried to to find out who it was that put the rope up.

This was a cool book! The story is about a boy named Keegan, who skis. He gets all tangled up in a mess that surrounds the local resort--snowboarding equipment that's being stolen. In order to figure out the source of the problem, he has to trade in his skis for a snowboard, and he befriends a new snowboarder who doesn't seem dangerous, but as time goes by, questionable things happen...
Quick chapters, drastic cliffhangers plots, and the author's wit is the perfect solution to keep anyone intrigued with the book, and craving more.
This book talks about how one day A kid goes riding but he is really scared and he doesn't tell anyone,he goes off and BOOM almost gets smacked on the head as he doges it but he has more problems ahead. He can't control how he is snowboarding so he falls and gets hurt but not that much.He really wants to know who did that and why.He sees a Girl snowboarding down and he YELLS "STOP STOP,LOOK OUT."The girl stops as soon as she can and she looks at him and gets closer SLAP.The boy get's slap."Why u do that?!" ask the boy "because.." says the girl.
I gave this book a 4 star because i liked it i recommend it to people who love skiing i say this because this good skier was almost injured from a trap for his teammates while hes mad at them they want a solution to let him forgive them. I say i should recommend it because it shows how the characters are there are exciting parts like what happens when he almost got injured what do they do so ya i really liked it. Lastly it has characters details why did they do that to trap a teammate and get him injured it is really exciting and surprising read it for your self.
One of the better Orca Currents titles I've read. This hi/low reader will attract both boys and girls with this action-based mystery with a touch of romance. Keegan is a skilled skier with secrets. During a race, he is sidelined by someone who set up an obstacle on his course. Keegan becomes immersed in the mystery surrounding who was responsible for attempting to sabotage him. Suitable for grades 5-12.
This Hi/Lo book is exciting and easy to read, but it has a few holes in the story. At the beginning of the book, Keegan is going to wait for the race officials to come to him and tell them about the wire, but that gets dropped. At the end, he is told he doesn't have any broken bones, but he brings up that fact that he has a broken ankle. The story is short enough that their shouldn't have been holes in the story.
It frustrates me that books for Hi/Lo readers aren't better constructed.
I give this book a 5 star because I really liked it. I recommend this book to people who love skiing. For example because the person was a great skier, got injured from a trap from his teammates because they're mad at him, and he's trying to make a solution for them to forgive him. This book has exciting parts like what happens when he gets injured. Also, it has great and specific details which can make the reader understand the book a little bit better :)
As always, SB shows himself to be a leading author, though sadly unknown for the most part.
This book only takes place over a few days and quite acurately shows the world of skiers and snowboarders. The plot is short, and the people are well-thought out, even for such a small story. I loved the way Keegan's past kept creeping into the present.
Someone left it at the cabin my family is renting and I was immediately grabbed by the radical graphics on the cover. It sucked and I finished it in under an hour. Even the 8yearolds this was written for probably hated it.
This is a review of the Orca book Pig Boy. Pig Boy is a really good book it is about a nerd that has a last name Hog. He goes on a field trip to a pig farm with his class. During the field trip twisted and cruel stuff happen such as murder. I will not give any more spoilers I want you to read this book. By the way the book is Pig Boy by Orca
