Impractical, implausible and totally delightful! This story supplies an answer to a myth that has been the breath of Scotland for generations. The story begins on the eve of the Great War in 1914 in Inverness. Elizabeth Blake, daughter of the renowned inventor and recently deceased Ewan Blake, discovers a steam powered, self feeding plesiosaur. This proves to be a creation of her father’s that falls in the category of automatons. The story takes the reader from the wild coast of Scotland to the more tranquil waters of Loch Ness. A tale of wonder, deceit, danger and yes, even love, this book has it all! Imagine that compactly stored in a one chapter sized tale of adventure. This is a story that is bound to delight readers of all ages. I can see that this could serve as the inspiration for a TV series of movie. Only time will tell. I highly recommend this book to everyone; it is well worth the relatively small investment in time and effort. I am very impressed with the literary talents of Claire Gillian and look forward to reading other works.
