The Masseuse

Rate this book
When Jezebel Carter agreed to a spa session to appease her sickly sister, she expects one thing and one thing only: to leave tension-free. It’s a spa, after all. Instead, she leaves with memories of a gorgeous man with talented fingers, who probably doesn't work at the spa and is a possible pervert.

Ramsey Stone is no pervert. He's a licensed masseuse, and he wants more than one session with Jezebel. For a man who prides himself on his control, even he admits he's smitten with the beautiful, but headstrong financial executive. He's determined to have her, and before long, Ramsey succeeds on his personal quest to make Jezebel his.

There's just one problem: Ramsey harbors a secret that could tear Jezebel from his arms and upturn their lives.

OMG!!!! This was such a great read. Ramsey is soooooo SEXY! Bone straight black hair, deep onyx eyes, olive skin, long lean muscles. Whew...what's a girl to do?!!! I absolutely loved this storyline. Just when, I thought I could predict what was going to happen next; I was surprised. And the love scenes were absolutely scorching! RAMSEY, RAMSEY, RAMSEY!!!!!!

This book was soooo good I didn't realize it was coming to an end! It ended with a Cliffhanger! I was like, WHAT, where is the rest!!!! Ms. Violette, please write BOOK 2, the Dragon, as fast as possible! ;-)

Violette wrote a book that I both love and hate. I love the fact that she too the I/R romance to a different level with the sexy Ramsay. I have read many I/R romances but this is the first that I really love with an Asian male lead. Ramsey is sexy and mysterious and I will follow him and his “red cream and phal “to the ends of the fictional universe. He has turned me into a Jezebel, Oh and speaking of Jezebel how can this book not be good with names like Ramsey and Jezebel together in a book, the author gets one star for the character names alone. Jezebel is a sexy independent woman who falls in love with her masseuse but, just when she finally starts to figure out Ramsey secrete the book ends. That is where the hate comes in for me, but not enough to take a star away the book is too well written for that but, it does make me give the author the over the shoulder eye roll. Now the waiting game begins for the next book, one thing I do know I will be happy after I read that one too.

8/12/16 Rant. ***

I am seriously annoyed with this brilliant author. She dropped off of the face of the frickin' earth without a friggin' peep... No explanation for her readers, just .... Poof...

Her books are no longer available via amazon, and yep... I am pissed..

I am calling this author out for such crappy behavior.. Because the way she did it was absolutely inconsiderate, until it was just unreal!

Note to Author:Ms. Dubrinsky, you cannot get people hooked on your writing, and then just leave us high and dry! That is rude!!

And yes, I am giving you the side eye..

End of Rant...

Ramsey Muthafreaking Stone (What he looks like in my fantasy)

description

Hey Boo...(I digress)

Can you think of a sexier male character than Ramsey Stone? Think about it...I'll wait...
description

This IR was a breath of fresh air for me being that the lead male was a SEXY mixed-race male (Asian and Egyptian), who was a strong alpha male that was the Dragon for a Asian mafia type organization. I liked how he was a strong leader who decided to create his own path with the position that was passed down to him from his grandfather. He is extremely successful, owning a large chain of international spa and gave the best massages this side of heaven. This man also has the sexiest bedroom banter that I've read in a while...I still smile thinking about it.

description

He handled his organization with an iron fist, but showed deep love and devotion to his family and friends. That cannot get any sexier. I love how he was persistent with Jezebel who tried to use every excuse to not pursue a relationship with him in the beginning, but he was a total gentleman in how he respected and treated her.

When Jezebel broke up their relationship based on the information provided by the FBI and not listened to Ramsey's side before making an informed decision, I was pissed. Maybe I'm just biased, because K.J. Ramsey Stone could have had me whenever, wherever and for whatever.

The book was filled with great characters, delicious sex scenes, dynamic chemistry, lots of action and drama! You will love it from the first page!

This story was the bomb, it had everything, suspense, romance, thriller. It was one of the best reads I have had to date. Bring on book 2 please! This book is well written and a page turner. The romance is hot and keeps you intrigued about the couple and where their relationship is headed That was money well spent!!!

You will not regret buying this book you will want to read it again it so fantastic, no hype at all.

I won't leave any spoilers because I really feel you should read the book yourself and enjoy the surprises that it brings.

The first 20% of this showed potential and promised an interesting story.

Thereafter it took a sharp turn into PWP. Redundant, cliched, boring porn at that. Without plot. Nothing happened. Nothing, except a 32 year old CEO behaving as if she has no sense, no life experience, no ability to distinguish lies from truth, and no self-esteem.

Then, suddenly, at 85% this became an episode of Law & Order, which descended into a mobster movie.

It ends on a cliffhanger...and buying the subsequent title is not in the least bit tempting .

***************************

I remember when I'd finished reading Windows, which I enjoyed, I looked at other people's reviews and came across one response which criticised the book as glorifying a gangster lifestyle. The reviewer was irate about a romance with a black female lead somehow needing to perform a bait and switch and become crime-laden etc. At the time, newly discovering Billy London, I was just intrigued by the voice and the UST etc. and didn't give much thought to the mob element. In this book, however, I feel exactly what that reviewer did. I am disgusted. And I recall why I was done with the genre. Actually, why I am done...after reading the last book in the Roommate Wanted series next week.

I originally was not looking to read this book. While I was looking for a book to read on my Kindle app, I kept seeing it. I had just finished reading a book from the same author not so long ago, so I gave in. It was everything I was not expecting. I loved it. It was hot. It was sexy. It was just everything. Then she went and cliffhanger'd me. I was so mad about that, but in a good way. It was a good book so for that cliffhanger to be there.... woo had me feeling some type of way.

I highly liked this one! I want it give it a 4.5

The Heroine: She comes off as a cool collected independent black woman with her nice job and nice house and very straight and narrow life style. In my opinion she seemed a bit life deprived. Meaning she didn't live life. She is CEO of a small business and she is honestly the shit. She had life by the horns.

The Heroine: He is a different type of bad boy and I love that. He is Asian(Korean) and Egyptian. He is a masseuse and he ends up covering for another masseuse. In the beginning he seems kind of pervery but that's far from the truth he just goes for he wants and he wants the heroine.

The story: How the hero was introduced into the story I practically swooned! *dramatic sigh*. This one pulled me in from the first couple of pages. It's really steamy and sometimes I just need that steam factor. The heroine try's to knock our pretentious hero to the the back burner but our hero wasn't having it. It was a whirlwind romance and I loved them together. The ended is a heart wrenching cliffhanger and I leaves you wanting more. I enjoyed this story and I will read the sequel to satisfy my hunger for Ramsey.

Started off with a bang, and definitely continued with it throughout the book. I was actually surprised at the turn of events which was a happy surprise. This has the makings of being an excellent series. I'll be patiently awaiting the release of The Dragon.

I started writing reviews around 2020/2021, I am revisiting some books and writing reviews on books I missed. This book was first published in 2013 and is not currently available on Kindle.

The Masseuse by Violette Dubrinsky was an unexpected treat. I had come to expect paranormal stories from the fabulous Ms. Dubrinsky but was pleasantly surprised by this twisty contemporary suspense love story. Driven businesswoman, Jezebel Carter takes little time for relaxation, she is too busy perfecting her brand. Her sister is fighting a serious illness and persuades Jezebel to try the relaxing services of a spa. Ramsey Stone gives Jezebel a massage that is more sensuous than soothing. Can she take the intriguing Ramsey at face value, is he just a talented masseuse or is there more to him than meets the eye? Ramsey certainly has secrets, and for the most part, readers discover the secrets along with Jezebel. I enjoyed this passionate romance, and the cliffhanger was heartbreaking and made me eager for a resolution! Having read the sequel, The Dragon, I can certainly attest that Ms. Dubrinsky kept us guessing and invested to the very end.

Okay, so, I had a few problems with this but other than that. I did kind of like it. It was short, a little over 150 pages. So, yeah. That's a pretty good length for me honestly.

So, on to the problems and all of that.

This one probably seems a little nitpicky, but it's called "The Masseuse" and one of the main characters is South Korean. It just felt a little..."yeah no", for me. If that makes sense. While I understand that the title relates to the book or rather the character, who owns a chain of spas. I still feel a better title could have been selected. 'Cause that just feels kind of....bad. What especially adds to it is the fact that some of the characters have dragon tattoos, and I, again understand that this relates to the story, but it still feels a stereotypical.
My other problem is the jealousy the hero and heroine have. A good portion of the time, especially for the hero, it wasn't light jealousy, if that makes sense. There was one incident that a neighbor calls the main heroine by her nickname, and the hero corrects him and there's a lot talk (in his head) of how he doesn't like her close with other men or something like that. And back to that incident, the hero hated the guy because he said he hated how attractive he was, and how he had a "I-get-what-I-want-attitude" (i.e., typical "Alpha hero" behavior), which I thought was ironic because the hero himself is an Alpha hero. As far as the heroine goes, she wasn't as bad, but around the same scene, there again was a lot of "in-head" talk about how she was watching the neighborhood wives ogle and stare at her boyfriend(the hero). Which was a little "meh" but it didn't get bad until she said one of the wives wasn't really beautiful because (if I remember right) she didn't wear make up and liked to garden. Also, in kind of hindsight, I thought it was kind of bad that she dismissed talking to them because she felt they'd have nothing to talk about because the wives were married and had families while the heroine didn't have those things.

Other than that, it wasn't really that bad. It wasn't my all time favorite book by this author but I do still like her work. The writing was pretty good, and it was interesting at least. So, there is that.

“Hot, sexy, and suspenseful is how I would describe The Masseuse. Violette Dibrinski has once again wrote an impassioned romance novel.”

I just finished this book and it has me saying, “How are you going to keep me hanging like that?” Yes, spoiler alert – there is a huge cliff hanger, but lucky for us the second book is coming out soon. This is one of those books that you will want to know how it ends. The book reads pretty steady; you get introduced to Jezebel and Ramsey. Jezebel is this hot successful businesswoman entrepreneur who is above her peers and in her 30’s. And then there is Ramsey who initially is presented as her masseuse and that’s how the book premise begins. But quickly as you read on you see that it drastically changes and goes in a different direction. That’s when the book starts to pick up and I get the feeling I first had about Ramsey, was that he was the good-looking, stuck-up guy.

He had everything going for him but still was cocky and down right argent. Initially, I wasn’t rooting for Mr. Ramsey and did not know how I would start loving this guy. I felt conflicted about Ramsey and Jezebel actually come to terms with the relationship and what it truly is, and that’s when you feel for him. But the whole time you’re reading you know something is off and you know there’s a big secret somewhere. I had my theories; I hate that my theories were wrong, I think? Because you really don’t get those questions answered in this first book. I’m hoping with the second book you get more of a clear understanding of who Ramsey is, what he’s involved in and what’s his secret, whatever he’s holding back, and how it is going to affect the relationship. You have some general understanding of what happens in the end and it has you feeling incomplete about the story. But have no fear, book two is coming in November so you can start reading The Masseuse now and get ready for the conclusion. I do believe the author said there will be a third book coming out soon to complete this story. I give this book a 4 out of 5 in the heat factor, but 4.5 for the overall story.

In The Masseuse, we are introduced to Jezebel (yes I said Jezebel) Carter, who at the urging of her sister goes to a spa to get a massage. She ends up on the table of masseur Ramsey Stone. Ramsey is not your every day masseur, he is filling in for someone and when he gives Jez a massage that she will not soon forget, she seeks his services again. However, when she calls the spa she finds out they do not have a “Ramsey “employed there. Feeling taken advantage of, she seeks the spas owner who just happens to be Kanga Jae Ramsey Stone. Soon the pair finds themselves face to face and become caught up in one another. As they become closer Jez starts to notice things may not be what they seem with her new beau, is he really just a businessman or is there more to this mysterious sexy Korean and Middle Eastern Hottie.
Really good book, Ramsey is so sexy and mysterious. He was just what Jez needed. This book, while being a really great hot and steamy romance also touched on a few social issues such as racism and gang volience. This book is certain to keep your attention. The cliff hanger at the end will have you on the edge of your seat to find out what happens next, but you will have to wait on book two which is sure to be a winner.

I'm going to keep this short mostly because there is too much to say. I could praise this book all day. I loved this book and I loved the characters. It was steamy, including a good story line. I was entrapped with the characters and actually cared to know more about them. I love BWWM romance novels and although the man was Asian it didn't deter away from what I wanted. He was sexy and ooh! Anyways the sex scenes were GREAT, there was tenderness, and it was a good length. I absolutely hate short stories and this was nothing close to that. I can't help but mention that there was also tangible character growth in this book. I haven't read the second novel yet but this one was perfect as a standalone. Would recommend it to anyone who wants a steamy and heart filled time. Ooh this was good ;) Enjoy!
