I can sum up this book in three words—tiresome, repetitive, and cheesy. Now, it's not hard for you to imagine my experience of reading this one. It's a wonder I could finish it!
Michelle catches her best friend and fiancé together and takes off for a mountain resort when a snowstorm hits. Then her car breaks down and she gets out and runs into 2 unsavory characters but, luckily, Jason, the firefighter, comes along and rescues her.
I liked the story even though I wasn't too fond of the heroine who lacked common sense and was a bit too weepy for my personal taste. It is a novella so not a lot of development. But it managed to build a decent plot and contain a little heat. Not too bad for a novella.
Damsel in distress gets rescued from the clutches of two baddies by hunky firefighter. Sexual tension overload ensues. Happy ever after. Last night's dog walk audio. Very short story, nice narration.
Take a damsel in distress, a raging snowstorm, some scary bad guys, and a sexy firefighter and you have all the elements of Cheryl Yeko’s Mountain Hero.
Mountain Hero is a novella length story that begins when Michelle finds herself broken down on the side of the road during a snow storm. Not only does the snow storm pose a danger, but two dangerous men find her stranded and it doesn’t take long for Michelle to figure out they have less than honorable intentions. Lucky for her, sexy firefighter and all around good guy, Jason comes upon the scene and stops to help. Unlucky for both of them, they get stranded with no car and little provisions to get through the raging storm. Michelle and Jason must figure out how to stay safe from both the storm and the bad guys.
The entire story takes place in a 24 hours period and much of it happens while both main characters are in the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm. If you’re wondering how romantic that set up is…don’t be. Jason definitely makes things more interesting when he has to strip Michelle down and keep her warm =) Although the book doesn't give much room to learn much about Jason, his protectiveness and instant attraction seem to be hallmarks of the author's heros (which I like!)
Strong protective instincts filled him and centered in his heart. There was something about her that touched him at the most primal level. Some part of him that recognized her for what she was.
His.
Mountain Hero was very short and actually ended at about the 80% mark on my Kindle. Even though it was short and didn't have room for a lot of development, I still really enjoyed it. It was well written and sexy. Cheryl Yeko is an author I just recently discovered and I can’t seem to resist really liking her shorter romantic suspense stories. All of her books seem to follow a very similiar formula and meet all my requirements for a guilty pleasure read. Damsel in distress, sexy/protective hero, instant/intense attraction...
If you like romantic suspense-lite books and are looking for a short story, I’d definitely recommend checking out Mountain Hero. There's not alot to work with but what there is, is enjoyable. I've also read a few other books by the author and have enjoyed them all.
I really enjoyed Mountain Hero, it has all the elements I want in a sweet romance. The world building and characters are well done and the writing is clean. There are really likeable characters to root for, as well as baddies you love to hate, and of course let's not forget a truly swoon worthy hero. There are some tender smexy moments and a taste of humor thrown in with the suspense and action. Michelle walks in on her fiance cheating with her best friend and takes off to get away. Well even though she has been assured by her mechanic that her car is functioning perfectly and will not need to be serviced for quite some time, Murphy's Law takes over and she is stranded on a deserted highway in a snowstorm when her car breaks down. Seeking help she is accosted by a couple of nasty characters when Jason arrives in the nick of time and adventure begins. The storyline was not really surprising, but was just what I needed and left me feeling satisfied with smile on my face at the conclusion. I have been reading a lot of rather dark stories lately and every now and again I like to enjoy a sweet romance. I call them palate cleansers and when I saw Mountain Hero offered for read and review I threw my hat in the ring and subsequently received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.
I loved this book the story was very involving pulled me right into the situation and I was able to place myself into the story and forget about the real world for awhile. I couldn't put the book down. I was sad that was a bit shorter of a story and felt it could have played out a bit longer, but hey you can only put out there what the characters want to be told about themselves. This was the first book I had read by this author and it was so well done that I have read 2 others. Protecting Rose and A Man to Trust, I will be following all this up with her book Abducting Casey and I can hardly wait to dive on in.
When you start reading Mountain Hero you start to think "Okay, Michelle has had a rough time with a broken engagement and a broken car in the middle of nowhere snow bound." You want to know why good women have the worst type of luck after dealing with everything Michelle is dealing with. But then here comes Jason, sweet and sexy and just what Michelle needs to show her that she can love again. But can Michelle get over everything that she has been through to love Jason? Mountain Hero is an amazing novella!
I loved the whole premise of being stranded in snowstorm with a sexy man! Michelle just had a bad break-up, so she decides to get away for a little bit. Unfortunately, she gets stranded in the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm, and then she runs into a couple of bad guys with dirty, nasty thoughts in their head. Luckily, Jason comes along to help, but they both end up stranded. Jason isn't exactly the alpha mountain man I was expecting, but he is a sweetheart! I liked the connection between Michelle and Him, and the story is entertaining. I listened to the audio, and the narrator does an okay job. He doesn't really emote emotion, but his performance was clear and he has a nice tone to his voice. The story is pretty short, so I did want a bit more ending, but Mountain Hero is entertaining. There's some steam, and I liked the scenario with the bad guys. Enjoyable listen.
A good story well told. It kept me reading late into the night. Though the bad guys were a tad stereotypical and the writing occasionally heavy on hyperbole, the story was so good overall that these flaws made little difference to my enjoyment. I loved the snowstorm crisis and the clever way poor Jason was tempted. His reaction seemed so natural and his resistance so heroic. 9/28/13 A re-read had me fretting over their instant physical attraction. They never really got to know each other before deciding they were falling in love. Too much romance fiction—and real life—is handled like this. Also, a full quarter of the volume was filled with promos for other books. I felt cheated, expecting more to the story, only to get a whole lot of commercials. 9/8/20
A fire fighter saves a girl from two punks on a highway in the snow, then takes her two not one but two caves, has the hots for her, they're rescued by her brother, fire fighter have a 'date' the following night (no ill effects of being out in a snow storm the night before), they then rescue her from the punks a second time...and it's true lurve forever. All within 48 hours.
Suffice to say, this is not a slow burn. This is something to read when you have constipation in the middle of the night because it'll bore the crap out of you.
A story that reached my upper level of steamy. Most people that like contemporary romance will probably think lukewarm. There is a bit of excitement and adventure to go along with the romance.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Alan Taylor has that dreamy hero voice.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Mountain Hero is a start of a new relationship for Michelle and Jacob although they met in very stressful situation.
It all started when Michelle was upset and made the bad decision to head into the Rocky Mountains when a snowstorm was predicted. Her car broke down and two guys from a gang stopped but not to help her. Jacob came to her rescue and this was the start of a new relationship with problems creeping in to make the storyline exciting as well as romantic.
This book had a wonderful story but was too short. I like to have flirty fun with the characters as I am reading the book and this book had all that, just in a condensed form. I will be reading this author again to see if her other book are more in-depth with the storyline. I saw that she had several books with the Hero Series.....Will have to see!!!
Mountain Hero was a great read by Cheryl Yeko. Michelle is trying to escape her life and find some rest and relaxation in the Rocky Mountains. Unfortunately on her way, her car breaks down. Her day gets worse when two men try to take advantage of her. She meets Jason when he tries to rescue her from the men. I loved Michelle and Jason's story and can't wait to read more by Cheryl Yeko.
Too shallow and lacking critical detail. The passion between the hero and heroine came through, but not so much the rest. Character development was lacking and I didn't feel their pain, especially when he supposedly busted his knuckles or the cold in the cave. It started off really good and then kind of fell off.
This was another fast-paced suspenseful read. It had wonderful characters and a suspenseful storyline. From the beginning until the end it was like a roller coaster ride that you don't want to get off of. It had non stop suspense and danger in this thrilling romantic suspense.I can't wait to read the next book.
Sometimes the worst time of a person's life, can lead to the best possible outcome. This is what happens to Michelle when she finds her cheating fiance with her supposed best friend. She ends up being saved by Jason.
Really liked this story. It had everything you'd like in a sexy romance:- a super hot guy, a beautiful guy, stranded, rescued and then to fall in love in the hottest way you can imagine
This was a short story that was a romantic-contemporary fiction. The story was quick fun and easy and a bit heavy on the sexual side. It is something that to me will be forgotten by tomorrow but that is probably because I read so many books.
This was wonderful story. Michelle and Jason are very likeable characters. Storyline was highly enjoyable. It was filled with excitement and suspense along with a fairy tale ending. It's definitely worth the read!
A great 'rebound' story for a woman who broke up with her fiance shortly before the wedding. A sweet story, but little substance (not that I expected more than that from a novella). It could have made a great longer novel, though.
Quick and enjoyable book. I enjoy the insta-love romances. Plenty of suspense. Jason was amazing. Looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
