At the heart of this well written and intriguing scifi thriller is the strong relationship between Anya and Sherdan. Having different belief systems but not necessarily different goals the lovers that cannot be together are still fond enough of each other to help each other where they can.
The story takes off really well from the last book. We are brought up to speed gradually but sufficiently to keep up with the fast developing plot.
Moutinfield has written great multi-dimensional characters that are a feast to get your teeth in. The story is at times a reflection on political power and societal dynamics with a great counter play between religion and politics. While Anya has often blind faith in God and his support for her, so has Sherdan faith in his prophecy and his political ideas; and then tghere is the UK as military power at the borders.
This is a respectable follow up to "Sherdans Prophecy" and a thought provoking, compelling and enjoyable read with bite and substance.
