Pseudonym for Chris Marie Green and Christine Cody

A long time ago, in a land far, far away (Milwaukee , WI , St. Luke's Hospital), Chris Marie Green (also writing as Crystal Green) joined the world. While moving to Southern California, Kentucky , then back to California , she amused herself by writing poetry and short stories featuring the ultimate Alpha males--Superman and Indiana Jones. Later, after graduating with a B.A. in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo , Chris decided to become a professional writer.

While she wrote, Chris worked as an eighth-grade teacher, but resigned in 2002 to pursue writing full time. Her critique partners, Sheri WhiteFeather and Judy Duarte are instrumental in her endeavors. Without these talented authors, writing would be a lonely road.

Chris is pumped about her Vampire Babylon series for Ace, which is best described as "noir fantasy-mysteries" featuring a vamp hunter. The first five books, NIGHT RISING, MIDNIGHT REIGN, BREAK OF DAWN (which compose the first trilogy), plus A DROP OF RED and THE PATH OF RAZORS (the first two books in the second trilogy) have already been released. The sixth, DEEP IN THE WOODS, will be on shelves on March 2, 2010. A Vampire Babylon-related novella was released in an anthology entitled FIRST BLOOD. (Note: The Vampire Babylon series uses trilogy arcs to tell one basic story, much like the way JK Rowling used seven books that didn’t solve every plot thread book-by-book to tell Harry Potter’s story. While each individual novel focuses on a central mystery that’s solved by the end, the three books together build character and mythology arcs/mysteries until everything culminates in the third book. Each trilogy repeats this pattern.)

Chris is also writes Silhouette Special Editions ("home and hearth" tales of redemption and community) and Harlequin Blazes (steamy fantasies), and whenever she can, she travels, including backpacking trips in Europe and road trips in America . She also enjoys yoga, hiking, and way too much movie-watching.

As long as DJ Traub can remember, he’s been in love with his best friend Allaire. But after she fell in love with his brother (Dax), and married him, DJ knew he couldn’t stay in town anymore and moved away. DJ has become a success, opening his very popular barbecue restaurants throughout the US. Now, his latest restaurant opening is in his old hometown at the Thunder Canyon Resort. When he arrives, he sees Allaire and realizes his old feelings for her are still there. She is now divorced from Dax. Is it finally time to let her know how he feels, or will this ruin their friendship?

This was a sweet friends-to-lovers/unrequited love romance. I really liked DJ, he was a nice guy and a good hero. He felt like he always came in second to his more popular brother, Dax. It was great seeing him finally getting his happy-ever-after with Allaire. Allaire taught art at the Thunder Canyon High School. Her dream was to go to Paris and paint there. But she married Dax young and her dreams took a backseat to his racing career. She was confused by the new emotions/attraction she suddenly felt when she saw DJ again. And she worried a lot about what the townspeople would think of her getting involved with another Traub brother. But everything works out in the end.

A pleasant romance by Crystal Green.

I love books like this because they make me feel good but this one I'm just sort of meh about. Maybe it's because I jumped into the middle of a series and maybe it's because DJ was sort of too Beta for me...he was kind of way girlier than Allair and what can I say I like really manly men...the kind of men who think grunting is perfectly acceptable conversation lol -but seriously. The way the characters talked to each other was unrealistic and I also felt that most of the "conflict" for them earlier on weren't big enough deals for them to make big enough deals about. I sort of thought Allair was whiny and kind of annoying. Then at the end when I sort of began to understand the complications of their relationships they were quickly and miraculously cleared up. Don't get me wrong I love love love endings where everything is tied up in a perfect pretty little bow ... but c'mon - for real? Allair, who had reservations throughout the entire book, doesn't have any (reservations) about jumping into a second marriage when in the beginning she was ashamed of her first failed marriage...
I don't know what's gotten into me I don't usually rip on books so badly. This one wasn't all bad. I mostly enjoyed myself. For me it wasn't a complete waste of time but I doubt I'll ever pick this book up, or any others in this series, again.

i was bored, which i did not expect as it was such a good plot! the woman you love fell for your brother and got married to him, so now they are divorced and DJ is back in Thunder Canyon. if it had been a presents one, der wud have been some bitter and intense emotions, as well as lots of angst! this one was just dull.
