FANTASTIC
This is without a doubt one of my favorite YA Fantasy series.
I do love Richelle Mead, her series Succubus Blues is also one of my favorite UF series ever.

What you'll find in this series:
Entertainment from beginning to end. Action, emotion, badassery, growth, adventure, VAMPIRES, fighters, excitement, suspense, intrigue, passion, love.
Great plot. Brilliant story evolution, believable succession of events and excellent plot development.
Fantastic characters and character development. Intelligent, brave, responsable, tough and feminine heroins that make smart choices. Hot, mysterious, loyal, intriguing, inteligent and badass male main characters. Characters than mature, learn and behave accordingly to their ages, circumstances, and life lessons.
Incredible relationships. Intense and developed romance with out of this word chemistry and longing. True bounds of friendships and loyalty.
Exemplary.

This series has it all. I have reread it many times and I will do it again. I eat this series up!

Eat it up

My favorite book within this series is Blood Promise (Book 4), which is one of my favorite books of all time. However, the book that truly made me a hardcore fan of the Vampire Academy was Shadow Kiss (Book 3), the final part enthralled me and trapped my heart.

I do have some issues with Book 5 and 6 regarding Rose's relationship with Adrian, her thoughts and actions regarding him and Dimitri. It bothered me, and I don't really see how it was that relevant to the story. The way the relationship unfolded made little sense to me, specially because of the small time-lapse everything happened in. If we had had a much longer time interval, her feelings and thoughts would have made more sense to me. As it is, it lacks affective responsibility, which I think is what bothered me most.

The audiobook narrator is very good. My first time with these books was by paperbacks, after that, all my rereads have been by audiobooks.

I highly recommend this series, both to YA and adults, females and males. It is just great.

P.S.: The movie is appallingly TERRIBLE and does an atrocious disservice to these books. It should be staked in the heart!

Tweet Review:

I was on bedrest for my back and had some free time, so I wanted to re-read these.

I love it just as much the second time around. I loved Rose's strength, sarcasm, and loyalty to Lissa. The romance is hot and rooted for them all the way through. Highly recommend if you haven't read them. A series that gets better with each book

Adrian. Adrian. Adrian.

Also Rose. Rose. Rose.

I love these two and I wish these would have ended up together.

I love this series. Even though the ending wasn't what I wanted, I love it still.

Blood Promise - 5 stars

Spirit Bound - 5 stars

Last Sacrifice - 5 stars

This series has my heart.

Refreshing and a page turner (review for books 1-6)

I purchased these books after watching the film and getting the impression that there was a lot missing, lore wise and tonally. Hoo boy was I more correct than I realised. Firstly, whilst I think it's for marketing, calling it vampire academy is a bit of a misnomer as the plot isn't based on the school for the most part, and more than half the series takes place outside of school. So if that's putting you off, give it a try and remember the adage to not judge a book by its cover (or title). I found this series so refreshing for a YA/ vampire novel because the world building allows for more complex themes to emerge about class struggles, morality, life and death, revolution and slow change. It also builds on classic vampire lore in a way that gives logic to some elements and allows for a consistent plot without a convenient deus ex machina. No plot point comes cheaply and fits into a solid arc across all 6 books, with excellent set up and payoff. Expectations will be subverted and not for shock value, which is nice to see. The romance is nicely slotted into the plot, without it becoming the main focus, but at the same time really gives you something to root for. It's also refreshing to see a bond that is more realistic and explores the reality of loss and grief when love goes beyond idealistic infatuation (quite common in romance). The characters are well rounded with flaws that make them interesting and realistic. But most of all, there is great pacing that keeps you turning the pages waiting for the next part of the story, and makes you feel wholeheartedly for the characters, putting you right there in the story with them. It's not often this happens but I read all 6 books, 2,300 pages in 4 days, which is a mark of how the story draws you in.

Talk about family drama!

This trilogy compiles the last three books in the series.

Rose has left school, in Russia she hunts Strigoi. She needs to find Dimitri's family, hoping to find a quick release to her duty of killing him. She should have known things wouldn't go as she hoped. They never had before.

A strange older man seems to be following her around, who is he? Why is he insistent that goes home? Rose has n
Things go from bad to worse for the heroine of the books. What will happen in the end? Rose knows what she wants, but is it enough?

A must read for all lovers of the supernatural world.

Love this series !!

It’s engaging and fast paced !! The only complaint is there are only six of them!! Never get bored of reading this series! It’s romance and action but not too soppy ! Love the female leads in it as well !!!

Amazing

With great sadness, the series has ending. I'm heartbroken. I need more and want more. The relationship between Rose and Dimtri is beautiful soul mates.
The twist turns shocks. More is needed.

I honestly found this really hard to read in comparison to all my other books because there were so many moments where I had to stop reading because it was either boring or I got frustrated with it. DNF right at the end because WHY WHY WHY why 😭😭 would you lead us on with the perfect Adrian and then do us ALL DIRTY with switching up at the LAST SECOND to Dimitri…like come oooon. There was no feelings there in the last book and I was content with Adrian I can’t read anymore. Also I kinda just find it weird with the whole Dimitri being way older and was her teacher thing…

Great paranormal adventure type genre though and very well written 👏

OVERALL: ~4.3 stars

Blood Promise (Vampire Academy #4) - 5 stars

If Rose thought she had it bad in the past it was nothing like she had to face now. Now she is on a mission to kill the man she loves, a man that is no longer the same person but a cruel and soulless Strigoi. Having to leave Lissa behind is only one of the things that is breaking her heart.

I thought Rose changed a lot throughout this book. She knew what she had to do and how she had to keep her promise. Despite everything to grew into herself and even learned that she has to start trusting those around her. All of the plot developments in this book were purely delightful, some I was expecting or had previously anticipated but that didn't detract from the author’s delivery of them. I also wasn't surprised by the ending but can't wait to read how it turns out!

Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy #5) - 4 stars
After coming back from her heartbreaking trip through Siberia Rose can’t wait to move on with her life and with Lissa. But she failed in her mission and not Dimitri is the one that is hunting her.

This want one of my favorite books of the series but the overall storyline and plot progression was still good. I think in the story as a whole I didn't like how the characters interacted with each other in this one there was so much tension going on. My favorite person in this book had to be Adrian just because he was so understanding despite everything and I felt his character really shines through the others. I was overwhelmed with what happened and can't wait to jump into the last book to find out how things are going to play out!

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) - 4 stars
With the queen dead and Rose the primary suspect things don't seem to be going their way. Before her trial comes up rose has to escape to be able to have the time to solve her own problem and to keep herself alive.

I feel that this was the perfect conclusion the the series. All of the struggles that Dimitri and Rose have between them come full force at them. Everyone bands together and people's true natures are able to surface. I am excited to read the next series and find out more about Sydney.

This series is just pure excellence.
When starting the book, I was pretty sure that this book would be like most of the books I've read - boring, cliched. However, when I read the first book, I got hooked, I couldn't stop reading. I sacrificed my sleep to finish the book, and I finished the whole series in about a week.
This series is completely action-packed - what makes it special. Action, action, action. You'll never get bored. The twists and turns are just amazing. What I like most is the romance between the characters. Their relationships are very special, one that you do not often find. It is very heartwarming, and you can't find a lot of books with characters like that. Rose and Dimitri were completely made for each other. They made up for each other's weaknesses.

Nevertheless, the book was just awesome. Too awesome for words. Richelle Mead has perfectly described the actions of the characters in the books. For a book consisting of fighting, it is extremely difficult to portray and describe the every action of a character. As such, not many books which consist of fighting is as good as this one. Her innovative mind and imagination is also extremely good. Its totally... breathtaking. I applaud her for that. Read it, or you'll miss out. Not to mention, I can proudly say that this is by far the best book I have ever read in my life. Really, I've read hundreds of books, and I can say that this is the best to me. No other books has touched my heart this deeply

Don't get me wrong Vampire Academy is one of my favorite books, like best books ever! Apart from this series I've only ever cried when reading one other book, and trust me, I've read a lot of emotional books. But Rose and Dimitri's romance eclipse everything. I've never seen a love, a bond as strong as theirs -in books and real life- expect maybe for Mickail and Sonya, but again they're in the same series.

So you read the fist five, you've become attached to Rose, to Dimitri, to all of them, and everything goes downhill in the last book, because you can almost feel that the ending isn't what you want it to be.

They take away the thing that defines Lissa and Rose. Why? Just why?! To add on to that, we don't get to see what happens to Lissa, to Rose, to anyone expect for the short story that comes a little later.

There's a lot of potential for more books, but at least I'll always have the rest of series. And we can all fantasize about Mr-hot-sexy-Russian-guy-who-has-an-adorable-nickname. Dimka, it's soo adorable! It is, yes it is, she said comfirming it to herself haha!

I really loved this series and read all 6 in just over a week. This did make the exposition slightly dull but I imagine that Richelle did not write it to be read instantly back to back.
The writing style is simple and repetitive with identical similies being used throughout the series. Using dimitri and me not I was the most painful part of what was a genuinely exciting and emotional series that I really really enjoyed. I am looking forward to trying all of the 0.5, 1.1 and 6.6 books as well as the spin off series bloodlines.

My only advice is to savour it if you can.

I have to admit not having high hopes about this series. I'd watched the film first and it was only for the first three books being 99p on kindle that I bought them.

I am so glad I did. True to form the book are miles better than the film. Rose and Dimitri are my OTP and im so happy they were endgame. Rose i have to day is one of my all time favourite characters, I just love her sassiness and her steadfast friendship with Vasilisa.

Though i felt books 4&5 dragged slightly this series is a winner for me and would highly reccomend.
