Waking Up Pregnant

The night that changed everything!

Waitress Darcy Penn is the smart, sensible type—flirting with the extremely cute guy in the bar just isn't her usual style. As for ending up in his hotel room? Definitely not! Sneaking out while he's in the bathroom to avoid the post-sex awkwardness? Much more like it….

If Darcy had stuck around, Jeff Norton could have told her about their "epic latex fail." So he shouldn't be quite so shocked when months later, Darcy turns up at his classy L.A. office and throws up in his wastepaper basket. She's got a bad case of morning sickness, and she's here to find out what he's going to do about it!

"And after all the weeks, he got what he’d missed the most. A flash of the gorgeous smile that started it all. The one he’d never get over. The one he still wanted to earn."
For those of you reading this and thinking 'it's another Harlequin book', well, that's undeniable. Because it is. But not all Harlequin books are the same, and I've read enough of them to know that.

It comes down to the writer - their style, their characters, their descriptions, and the way they weave the story. And let me tell you, Harlequin or not, Mira Lyn Kelly never disappoints.

"How do I get her to laugh like that for me?"
The story is set around Darcy and Jeff, and what a pair they are!
Jeff, the wealthy guy, with a great job, and a great family. Darcy, the high school drop-out who hasn't had an easy life and never had the support of her family. They're so different, but for one night in Vegas... there's chemistry and sparks all around.
And then Darcy finds herself pregnant, after that one night with Jeff. And what could have been a one night stand suddenly turns out to be so much more.

"What if? was a dangerous game to play."
I don't especially like stories where the heroine finds herself pregnant because everything seems forced from then on. That wasn't the case here. You can see how their feelings for each other develop, how they care for each other, and the, yes, love that comes from all of it.
In the meantime, bear in mind that it is a Mira Lyn Kelly book, so it's bound to get steamy!

Waking Up Pregnant is a solid, heartwarming story of two people: one who wasn't looking to be Cinderella, and the other who certainly did not imagine himself as the prince... but if the show fits...?

Extremely Disappointed. Why Does There Always Have to be Another Woman Already on the Scene, Taking the Heroine's Place??!!

I am so sorry to say that I did not like this book any whatsoever. The story line was okay and it had the potential to be a very good story, but it sorely missed the mark.

Darcy Penn is a very sensible waitress in Vegas and this is her final night at her job. Jeff Norton is at one of her tables and it seems she gets to him and he doesn't want the night to end. Unfortunately it does...with Darcy in his bed. When he excuses himself to go to the restroom to dispose of the latex he discovers a very serious malfunction. Before he can get back to Darcy, who is supposed to be waiting in bed, she quickly and quietly escapes before he can break (pardon the pun) the bad news. She is regretting what she has done because sensible Darcy does not do one night stands. She wants it to be more.

Jeff heads home the next day not wanting to end his brief relationship with Darcy but instead within a few weeks he gets involved with another woman, the perfect love interest for him, one, he feels, is a super great fit for him and his life. He has already planned to propose to her in approx 6-months...but they have only been together 5-weeks. That does it for me right there. Why in the world didn't he try and find or contact Darcy if he wanted more from their relationship. He was a very wealthy man and he could have had her found if he really wanted her. Instead, typical man, he thinks he has found his perfect match in just a very short time.

I simply despise this type of situations with the other woman, all the misunderstandings, and the stupid game of trying to guess how the other one feels. Ugh! I looked so forward to this book and I am so disappointed.

I am sorry that I cannot recommend this book, but you may want to try it for yourself. The situation in this book is one that is hard for me to tolerate. Maybe it isn't the same for you.

My HP reading has drastically reduced over the years but Mira Lyn Kelly is one author I do enjoy reading and now I can say that Waking Up Pregnant is one of her strongest books and unlike usual HPs.

I liked Jeff the hero, he was a just man, who loved his mother. He and Darcy meet in Vegas and spend a night together and while Jeff is in the bathroom, Darcy runs out, not giving Jeff a chance to try something between them or the fact that the condom broke.

A few months later however Darcy is at Jeff's doorstep to break the news to him about her pregnancy and this is when the book got interesting for me. Often I find marriage of convenience plots in books but this isn't what happened in this book, instead these two act like mature adults and get to know each other and agree to keep it platonic. Jeff has started a new relationship as well and I liked how he wasn't quick to drop that and its end made sense.

Darcy starts living with Jeff's mother and I liked how these two didn't behave like teenagers falling into bed together and instead became friends and that their relationship was actually mature.

I loved the book, the romance, the build-up of the relationship, everything worked for me and this was one HEA I could whole-heartedly believe in.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY!

This is a Harlequin KISS book. As such, we know that our two main characters are going to meet, there will be some drama, and they will end up together. Add in the trope of "pregnant after a one-time encounter," and we all know we've read something like this before.

Which doesn't mean that Waking Up Pregnant is a waste of reading time. Far from it! Ms. Kelly's words touched all those lovely places in my heart that make me read this kind of story. I felt her fear, her love, his confusion, and their hopes and dreams. It was a great way to spend several hours.

HE was charming and focused. SHE was broken, just a bit, but working to get beyond her childhood. THEY had steamy scenes that were also incredibly sweet.
I read Waking Up Married by this author some time ago. The characters in that one, Connor and Megan, are mentioned here, but you don't need to have read it to be caught up. BUT, after reading this one, you may want to check it out.

Four and Half Bookmarks for being exactly what I wanted in a romance with a pregnancy at the center.

*Thank you, NetGalley and Harlequin KISS, for the opportunity to read Waking Up Pregnant

If you're intrigued, you can add Waking Up Pregnant to your Goodreads' Shelves.

This one comes out on March 1, 2014.

Don't stop reading!

Don't!

Listen to me!

There was a point where I really enjoyed the writing style but thought the "hero" couldn't get any worse.

He was a wienie. Yes, I borrowed a word from my 5 year old's vocabulary because I thought it would be appropriate considering this man's immaturity and inability to take responsibility....

But thank the heavens!!

He came to his senses. I loved it! Fun. Fun. Fun.

Even if this book was predictable I still really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters Jeff and Darcy. What I loved about Darcy's characters was that she was a women who learned from her past and has decided to lead a more stale and independent life. Even when she found herself pregnant she still worked on trying to get her independence, meanwhile Jeff was offering her everything he could to help her. I thought this book was well written and enjoyable. I loved how generous and caring Jeff was. He could've acted like a jerks and think the worst but he didn't and did what he had to do to take care of Darcy and his unborn child in the ways he knew how. This was a perfect mix of romance and steam. Overall I really enjoyed this book and think you will too. 4 of 5 stars!

Waking Up Pregnant by Mira Lynn Kelly

I received this book from to publisher for my honest review.

This was my first Mira Kelly book and I loved it. It was a cute, happy, swoony read. I am all for books with a bit of drama and a happy ending.
This book does everything in the opposite form. The main characters Darcy and Jeff start of by having a steamy one night together which of course ends with Darcy pregnant. Throughout the book, the two work of forming a relationship that will benefit them raising a child together but separate….or not.

Darcy is an independent as they come. She has been alone and preferred it that way since she was 16 years old. While working as a cocktail waitress in Vegas, she is hit on a regularly but never ever dies anything but deny the numerous men. That was until she met Jeff.

After agreeing to one night of just fun, nothing more they end up having such an amazing time together that ends with a BANG (no pun intended, ok, maybe a little). Darcy runs away before Jeff even comes out of them bathroom to tell her about what happened, hoping she will just never have to see him again…that is until 3 months later she barges into his office with a trash bin insight….pregnant.

I really loved Jeff. He was such a caring, generous man. While he very well could have been the womanizing ass like most men in this situation he took this change of events to heart and was determined to be the best father he could be…he pretty much is the best at anything he does.

The two of them consistently denied their true feelings for each other. Jeff can never stop thinking of her, has a need to see her on a regular basis and it just so darn caring. (Seriously, I loved him). During Darcy’s pregnancy, she suffered through morning sickness, hormone craziness and he was always there by her side (if she let him) He was just perfect.

While the ending is predictable and something you totally want to happen. This was a perfect combination of romance, swoon, sexy scenes and more. A must read!

Waking Up Pregnant can be read as a standalone but is a companion novel to Waking up Married. You get a bit of Connor for WUM as well.

I highly recommend this book. Mira’s writing is captivating and has a great flow. I read this in one sitting since I couldn’t put it down. I am now a fan of Mira and look forward to reading more of her work.

Waking Up Pregnant is a cute story of a one night stand with consequences but it was one of those books that I couldn’t help but like the characters and was secretly plotting ways to throw them together because even if they refused to believe they should be together, I was all in from the minute they met. This book took me by surprise with its lighthearted fun beginning, the crazy, mixed up middle, and the heartfelt and emotional ending; yet despite an unplanned pregnancy it was a perfect romance.

After an evening of fun both in bed and out with Jeff, Darcy finds herself with a little memento of their time together and seeks him out to let him know. I really admired Darcy for having the courage to see Jeff face to face, for letting him know that she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself and their child, and for not letting him railroad her into doing what he wanted immediately. That’s not to say I didn’t like Jeff because I did; he was a great guy, accepted his responsibility and wanted to help in any way possible because he had the means to do so. I won’t say he didn’t manipulate the situation a time or two but in reality I felt he did so because he truly cared about Darcy and their baby.

There was so much that was right with this story and even when these two were at odds, I couldn’t take sides. They both had some strong reasons for feeling the way they did and while it would have been nice if they had communicated them to each other, they were both a little stubborn and that sometimes got in the way. However, there was never, ever a doubt in my mind they were destined to be together.

This book is hard to classify because while it had quite a few sweet moments, it had some moments of supreme sexiness as well. All in all, Waking Up Pregnant was an excellent story of two people brought together by circumstance but wound up together because of love.

So the premise sounds familiar, you have Vegas and a hot guy and a practical waitress who steps outside of her boundaries for one night. Skip forward a couple of months and oops baby is on the way. The difference here is that what could be trite is saved by likeable characters who deal with a difficult situation in reasonable way. But that strength becomes a bit of a weakness when it comes to the plot. There is very little conflict to push the plot forward and what is there feels a bit contrived. There was a bit of a love triangle which doesn't hold up. I actually liked that this didn't pan out, first of all because I'm not fan of the love triangle device, but mostly because a passionate guy like Jeff could never really believe he could make a long-term commitment to the cold fish almost fiancee. So the eventual conflict is a bit weak. A sort of 'we can't really together because if it falls apart it will be bad for the baby' which didn't really work that well. Neither one wants to face the obvious and there is a lot of hiding from the truth. Darcy's background makes it difficult for her to trust anyone especially herself.

So while the conflict was a bit weak, it was resolved well, and we had likeable characters. Overall, it was an easy sexy read.

Waking up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly was and still is free on Amazon. I loved the book so when I saw Waking up Pregnant on Netgally I requested a copy. I was not disappointed. It was a feel good story that featured Jeff, Connor’s friend from Waking up Married.

Like Connor Jeff met someone in Vegas. Darcy did not do one-night stands but Jeff was so much fun she ended up in his bed. Three months later she looks Jeff up to tell him she is pregnant and the fun begins. She is determined to be independent. He is gun shy. They are both great characters and a matched pair. It just takes awhile for them to realize it. I loved Jeff’s mother, Gail. She is another of those fun characters when add to a story. Connor makes an appearance and Megan is often mentioned.

This was a quick fun read. If you like a sweet fun love story you will want to read this one. If you like Waking up Pregnant and haven’t read Waking up Married you will want to read it too.

This was a very solid, innocuous and quick read. I enjoyed the build-up; Darcy and Jeff's time in Las Vegas was completely endearing. I really felt the connection between the two characters.

The conflict was barely there, but at least it didn't devolve into an epically stupid Big Misunderstanding. It was mostly a conflict of stubbornness, which isn't the most compelling thing in the world, but also isn't the worst. I understood Darcy, and found her motivation made sense, I was also grateful that she wasn't a gold-digger. Jeff was a little harder to pin down for me, but still likable. Ultimately, I enjoyed this - a sweet and fun comfort read.

*I received a free ARC of Waking Up Pregnant from Harlequin KISS via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*

Waking Up Pregnant is kind of like a mix between a modern fairy-tale and a quirky contemporary romance, and it is fun, sweet, hot and romantic packed in a neat wrapping. The characters are really well fleshed out, too, and as Darcy and Jeff fall in love, they are both hiding their true feelings - from themselves and each other.

I like the story, but the writing style...not that much...

It's written in 3rd person POV,....I've read more than 600 books, and only a few were able to satisfy me with 3rd person POV's. Why? I usually feel detached to the characters, and that's not my fault.. One of my favorite author tried writing a novel in 3rd person, and god, it was horrible.

I just breeze through the whole novel.

I like the ending.

As always with Kelly's books, this was a fun read. I especially related to the heroine with her need not to look as though she wanted more from the hero than he could give.

When Harlequin launched its KISS line, it gave away Mira Lyn Kelly's Waking Up Married for free (it's still free). It was a fun little book, so I read Kelly's Once Is Never Enough when it came out, and was a bit disappointed. It was sweet enough, but Kelly's fondness for incomplete sentences distracted me. But I was up for trying again with the release of Waking Up Pregnant -- a companion to Married, but a standalone.

Jeff picks up the reluctant Darcy, a cocktail waitress, one night in Vegas, and shows her a good time. Not in that way (well, that way, too), but in a here's-what-you're-missing kind of way. Darcy's very reserved -- men fall all over her, but she's never allowed herself to let loose, just in case she ends up down the wrong path. It's her last night in Vegas before she leaves with all the money she's saved to start a new life, so it's her last chance to enjoy the city she's only just existed in until now.

Inevitably they can't deny their attraction, yadda yadda, with the result being that Darcy flees while Jeff's discovering that the condom failed. Flash forward three months later, and Darcy's showed up at Jeff's office to deliver the news.

Jeff's spent the last three months trying to get Darcy out of his head. He's also wealthy and a good guy, so he steps up and vows to take care of Darcy and their child. But she's made it abundantly clear that she's not looking for any more than that. She's fought too hard for her independence, yadda yadda...

I'm not generally a fan of the baby trope, but I was okay with this one. Maybe 'cause Darcy won me over when she had a breakdown over her clothes not fitting. I remember that day. Sobbing on my closet floor because everything I owned just made me look lumpy. My husband coaxing me out and promising to take me shopping. The horror of the maternity clothing shopping experience. And my discovery of the best thing ever invented: maternity jeans. I guess all we're looking for is a little accuracy in an experience that ranges widely, depending on the mom. So I connected with that, even though in the book it occurred, say, a month later than it did for me. But then it always does in books because everyone's super skinny and not even showing forever and, ohmigod, I didn't even realize I was pregnant! Ahem. Did I mention I'm not a fan of the baby trope? Maybe I'm just jealous.

This book didn't wow me. Darcy was pretty wooden. Reserved, sure, with occasional flashes of personality, but for the most part she was just kind of there. Jeff was a little too good to be true, which is fine, but he lacked complexity. His mom was a great character, though -- completely unexpected. What I did like was the attempt to equalize the characters. Darcy might be former trailer trash and a cocktail waitress, but that doesn't faze Jeff or his mom one bit. She's clearly ambitious and strong and that's all they see. For Jeff, the paternity test is only a technicality -- he has faith in Darcy's character, so he doesn't think for one moment she's after his money. He's aware that she's more concerned about feeling trapped herself than thinking he might feel that way. And Darcy realizes soon enough that accepting his help is the smart thing to do, so we're spared most of the "I'd rather live in poverty and keep my pride than accept your charity" rigmarole.

But Darcy went back and forth a frustrating amount on whether she should give in to her feelings for Jeff, and it started to wear me down. So as much as there were things that worked for me, in the end I was kind of meh on it. It's sweet and lovely in many ways and the writing style worked a lot better for me, but the characters lacked life and Darcy's stubbornness got to me in the end.

Ramblings. I love and adore books with babies involved in it. Yep, that’s pretty much the reason why I read this book and why an ARC of Baby for Keeps is sitting on my Netgalley account. Pregnancy and babies just takes the book up a notch into a whole new heart warming level.

My thoughts. Waking Up Pregnant serves as a companion novel to Waking Up Married (which I haven’t read yet) but can certainly be read as a standalone novel. This book is short, sweet and emotional read about the characters of Jeff Norton and Darcy Penn who are into this dilemma of her being pregnant after their one-night stand in Vegas. The actual story takes place three months after that said night wherein Darcy drops by Jeff’s office and manages to turn his world upside down. Though, he kind of expected it after that mishap with the latex (in which he hasn’t had the time to tell her) during the time they’ve spent together BUT still shocked to see a proof and confirmation of it all. Crazy, NOT.

A little bit of back story of their Vegas fun night together and then we’re now launched through their story on how they’re going to deal with the information that a baby’s on the way, how they’re going to deal with each other and what their relationship is going to be like in the near future. But Darcy’s been this independent girl for most of her life (so she comes off as a bit stubborn) while Jeff’s the type of guy who’s willing to provide for everything and will make you want to cave in to his whims. Ha! They’re definitely bound to clash in one way or another …

Storyline quite familiar? So yeah, it’s pretty much predictable but it is definitely believable and really delivered on the emotional side of the story. It made me realize how emotional reader I am because I really bawled my eyes out while reading this book and my heart’s doing this squeezing thing. With this book being such a short read, we actually see the characters opening up and developing within its pages and that’s actually beautiful to witness. They were able to learn, accept and cherish the changes happening in their selves and lives. *SIGH* Though, I would have appreciated it more if there were scenes where Connor and his wife made an appearance together or more stuff about Jeff’s business and all that, just to make us see that there’s more to the characters mentioned in this book.

Okay, that’s pretty much it. If you want to read something short and want to cry your hearts out, then you should definitely pick this book up.

WAKING UP PREGNANT was delightful and exactly what I needed to start of my New Year right. It was cute, sweet and most of all, I had a lot of fun reading it.

Darcy and Jeff meet up in a bar where Darcy is Jeff's waitress. Did I mention this bar was in Vegas? Well, the bar is in Vegas and Jeff really wants to get to know Darcy better if you know what I mean. But, Darcy doesn't date customers. There's something different about Jeff though and she's leaving Vegas for a new job the next day, so she decides to throw caution to the wind. They have a wonderful date and then a more wonderful night back at Jeff's hotel. But, Darcy slips away the next morning without saying goodbye.

Three months later, she comes to his office and announces that she's pregnant with his child. And that is where the fun begins.

I could see this plot coming from a mile away but it didn't make me enjoy it any less. Both Jeff and Darcy were great characters. And as stubborn as they were to not be together, you just knew that it was a losing proposition. They were perfect for each other. And despite the arguments and the misunderstandings, you knew it was going to work out in the end.

WAKING UP PREGNANT is the second book in the Waking Up series by Mira Lyn Kelly, but you do not have to read the first book to enjoy this one. There is enough background given to understand how the first book connects to this one.

I've had this one for review for quite some time, and for some reason I wasn't able to get to it when I first downloaded it. I'm sorry for that because it was such an enjoyable read. This is my first book by this author, but I definitely will be revising her work again when I need something on the lighter side to enjoy.

This was a really sweet story. Jeff, and Darcy were likable characters. It was nice to read about a hero that was supportive when he found out a baby was on the way. The suspense on the relationship they shared took away from the book. I know it's always good to have some suspense, and a yo yo back in forth on what they are feeling to make a good story. This book I felt took it to the extreme. Half way through the book, they couldn't even give a title to the friendship they shared. They didn't know what to call themselves. As a reader, I knew they were well past being girlfriend/boyfriend, but they lived in denial. They shared true love, the chemistry was there, the feelings, but the word "love" scared both of them that they refused to grasp it.

Jeff had a happy childhood. Darcy on the other hand had a miserable childhood. Her past made her strong, and independent. She vowed to herself, she would never put herself in a situation that she would ever need to rely on anyone. She had pretty much been on her own since she was 16. She worked hard at low income jobs, and paid her bills, never taking time out to have fun. One night she met Jeff, and she just wanted one night. One night to live, and have fun. That one night was like magic. Made her want to start believing in things that could never be. She walked away, not looking back.... Until 3 months later, when she found out she and Jeff had made a baby that magical night.

There were a few places in this book that really just made me laugh. I love a romance with a twist of humor weaved into the plot.

Over all this was a good book. I'm glad Jeff and Darcy discovered what the reader already knew.

This is the second book in Mira Lyn Kelly's Waking Up series, and just like her first, Waking Up Married, this book was a fun, easy read.

Darcy Penn is a cocktail waitress in Vegas and despite her normally very carefully scripted life, she agrees to a fun last night with Jeff. One adventure leads to another and then a fun night in bed.

Three months later, Darcy shows up in Jeff's office and starts their encounter off right - with an acute case of morning sickness.

What follows is a tumultuous journey of growth for both of them. Darcy needs to learn to trust and depend on others, to give a little. Jeff needs to open his heart - and his eyes - to what's right in front of him.

Jeff is swoony and the stereotypical perfect man. He's got a lot to offer, and he makes you want to give in and take it.

My one complaint is the old school language used in the sex scenes. It was reminiscent of heaving bosoms, although not quite that bad.

Overall, I'd say this book is a solid 3.5-4 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the chance to read and review this book.

Waking Up Pregnant is the ‘sequel’ to Waking Up Married by Mira Lyn Kelly. This story follows Jeff Norton, Connor Reed’s best friend. The same night Connor meets Megan Scott, Jeff meets Darcy Penn, the waitress that also makes a small appearance in the first book.

This is the last night Darcy works as a waitress in Las Vegas. She has always played it safe. She decides this is the night to let a little loose after she meets sexy and confident Jeff. But, one night leads to pregnancy. Darcy shows up at Jeff’s office to inform him that she is pregnant. The story then proceeds to relate Darcy’s complicated pregnancy and their budding romance.

The book was ok, merely ok. It had a lot of potential but the author didn’t fully explore it. There were so many opportunities for drama, confrontations, something! But, the books concentrated too heavily on the main two characters and left everyone else at a mention. So many possibilities never explored…

Overall, an ok and enjoyable read but you are left with the feeling that it could have been more.

With a title like Waking Up Pregnant the author would have to work hard not to have a good story and so this is indeed a good story if a little on the heroine being extraordinarily stubborn to the point of stupidity in a couple of places but it worked.

Darcy and Jeff really do make a great couple in this love/hate/friendship/something tale of disaster turned romance. The opening scene where she comes into his office and throws up in his trashcan is priceless.

The problem that makes this into a story is both of them are trying SO hard to NOT fall in love it is a trainwreck for a goodly portion of the novel before it gets everything pulled together.

I love this and the previous novel Waking Up Married (which we reuse one of the characters in this novel) and highly recommend them for anyone who might want a great story to read in about a day or just needs something with a bit of Happy Ever After.

I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it was predictable, and, yes, the hero and heroine were in love but had no idea, but I thought it was so sweet. So, as you can see from the title, Darcy woke up pregnant and it was after a one night stand. Jeff, our rich hero always had every intention of taking care of her and their baby. Thank goodness he wasn't a jerk. But they were both naive, I honestly think he was more in denial than she was.

So, if you like the one night stand, waking up pregnant, rich guy, poor girl, fairy tale love story, then this is the book for you. It was sweet and adorable and they did have some great chemistry.

Heroine has always had to take care of herself. So when she discovers she's pregnant after her first one-night stand ever, she's reluctant to give up any of her independence. The hero is rich and nice so when she collapses due to extreme morning sickness, he takes her to his fabulous mom. This is one of those stories where the hero and heroine both think they know his "type" and are sure it's not her. She has real reasons to fear the loss of her independence. This is just a nice romance with some fairly hot canoodling. I wasn't fond of the flashback but it didn't annoy me like some have. I liked this a lot.

This was a quick and cute read. I loved the way Darcy and Jeff were together. And his mom was a riot. Especially when she found a special man. My lips are zipped as to who. I enjoyed how it wasn't an instant love for them. The author did a great job of making this feel like a real story that very well could happen in real life.

This is a kind of reading that I have begun to follow during and after my pregnancy, due a little of curiousity and solidarity with these protagonists with smooth lines and the hormonal up and down.
It is a contemporary romance in which, as the title says Waking up Pregnant, the female protagonist gets pregnant.
For once in her life Darcy wants to prove to let go on an adventure of a night with a customer known in the bar where she was working. He is handsome, charming, ironic and seems like a good person. She is going to leave town and start a new life and she decided for once to live an evening during which she is willing to break all the rules that she has set in her life to be safe.
Together she and Jeff spend an amazing night, there is feeling between them, a strong attraction and the whole night is perfect, except for one small detail: the condom used by Jeff was failed and he can't even tell Darcy because she is already run away, not knowing how to deal with "the after".
The girl becomes pregnant and she goes to Jeff to warn him and give him a chance to make a choice: he wants to be part of the future of the child or not?
Darcy does not want to marry him or something else, she struggled to learn to be a totally independent and she wants to remain herself.
It's a book vero nice, the story is smooth, I enjoyed its reading, and Jeff is truly a fantastic character.
He offers immediatly his support to Darcy, unconditionally, and he wants to be there for her and the baby as she reveals the surprise.
The relationship between the two had stopped so abruptly. But Jeff had not forgotten their adventure, he even though about ask her to continue seeing each other. Both of them say they do not believe in fairy tales, afraid of ruining their relationship, complicating their lives and the child's one. But Darcy for Jeff is like a siren, he can't resist her and ne can't stay away. And their story continues.
I like this book because it deals with a subject that is sometimes a bit taboo, sex during pregnancy of a woman, and the fact that you can be beautiful and desirable too.
No twist to distort Jeff and Darcy's story, but sometimes it's nice to read stories like this, we leave the mess to the reality outside the books.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the book.
