This is my first read by Perry. I am honored that she offered me the chance to review her book before it went live today. I can say this, I do want to see more of the Blue Dynasty. A family of women making their mark on a male dominated field has me cheering them on and looking for how they do the next big step.

Charlotte Blue has worked very hard to show that she can be a force to reckon with in the field of her choice. She lets nothing stand in her way not even an over ambitious ex, that felt he had the power by giving her an ultimatum. This is a tactic that does not work well for the issuer of such.

Charlotte has an uphill battle to get and maintain her dream job regardless of the fact that her family (parents) are the new owners of the Las Vegas Slayers. Her parents are not very parent-ly with love or complements.

Disclosure: I was given an advance copy of the ebook in return for a fair and honest review.

This is a Romeo-and-Juliet, families-that-hate-each-other romance. The heroine, Charlotte Blue, works for her parents, the new owners of Las Vegas Slayers; the hero, Nate Franco, is from the family that used to own the team. She's got a lot to prove, as a female trainer and as the daughter of the owners (who cut her NO slack, but the rest of the world doesn't see it that way). He's wary about losing his job, convinced the new owners forced his father to sell up, and fiercely loyal to his brother (a former football player, now injured), who feels done out his legacy by the sale of the team.

Got that? Good.

At its core, this is a book about loyalty: both Charlotte and Nate are loyal to their families to a degree that's interfered with their ability to be loyal to themselves and to their own desires. This is made particularly heart wrenching by the fact that the families, arguably, don't deserve that level of devotion: Nate's father has made his own problems, and Charlotte's parents spend a lot more time worrying about how she affects the family "image" than they do about what the family image is doing to their daughters. The sexual attraction--and growing romance--between Nate and Charlotte is the catalyst for each of them to set aside a little of that family loyalty in favour of forging their own path.

I usually hate it when I can tell a book is setting itself up for sequels. Show me a romance with a heroine with sisters and I opt out more often than not. But in this case Charlotte's sisters--Martha, who hasn't quite grown up and is self-aware about how she never will while the family controls her, and Danica, who has already made the decision to try to be the "perfect daughter" even when it looks like that might mean throwing Charlotte under a bus--are compelling enough that I would actually read their stories.

Even the villainess of the book, Nate's almost-stepmother, is sympathetic underneath the conniving and slinking. She's been cut off by her family, and is painfully, apprehensively aware that her physical assets have a limited shelf life, and so she'll do whatever she has to in order to survive and secure her engagement to Nate's father. I ended up feeling sorry for her, and almost admiring her (hey, at least she goes down fighting).

The only characters I couldn't warm to at ALL were Charlotte's parents. Holy Hell, they were cold (though they never turned into cartoon villains; success-driven, image-obsessed parents are all too believable). The final confrontation between them and Nate was a glorious moment. Charlotte's own showdown with them was even better.

A longer, more spoiler-ish review can be found on my blog: http://themummyreads.blogspot.ca/2014...

I had the pleasure of being asked by new Kimani author, Lisa Marie Perry, to read and review her debut novel “Night Games.”

Charlotte Blue wanted to prove to her parents that she could make a name for herself in the world of football. She was hired as the assistant trainer for the Las Vegas Slayers Football Team, a team owned by her parents Marshall and Temperance Blue. Because her parents were the owners, media and others viewed Charlotte’s hiring as nepotism. Charlotte set out to prove that she was hired on her own merit.

Nate Franco’s father Al was the previous owner of the Las Vegas Slayers. Nate felt his father was pressured to sell the team to Charlotte’s parents. While working as a trainer and vying to find out what really happen with the team’s ownership, love between Charlotte and Nate slowly crept in.

This is the second football romance story I have read where the heroine of the book plays a major role in a male dominated profession. Night Games was well written and the character development for Charlotte was very strong. You could feel the chemistry between Charlotte and Nate throughout the book. Although their love for each was forbidden, they were determined to make their relationship work. I admired Nate's commitment to Charlotte and his dedication to protecting her.

I am truly looking forward to reading Danica and Martha’s stories and the continuation of the Blue Dynasty series. Good job Lisa!

Well, first, just let me say that I LOVED this book! It pulled me in pretty quickly and I loved the entire thing. I loved the fact that this was a different type of romance and I also really loved the fact that this was a book about a woman trying to make it in a man's sport and even though the odds were against her in so many ways she wasn't going to give up because that was her dream and she was determined to follow it! I always loved to play sports when I was younger and usually had my brother and his friends looking down on my skills because I was a girl, and so I can relate to the determination that is required to ignore the sneers etc and keep going because it's what you love to do. I also really enjoyed the fact that despite what either of the two main characters were taught to believe and the struggles they had to deal with, with their families included, they were able to over come it with each other and with their lives. I love that it's a story about things that really do happen in real life and struggles that alot of people do in fact have to deal with. It shows that even though life can be good, it is also a struggle and if you work hard, you can over come the tough obstacles.

I will definitely be reading more of Lisa Marie Perry's books. And I will definitely be recommending her to all my friends who read! :)

Not the kind of book I typically read but I really enjoyed it. This isn't just some romance story with little to no story involved. This book had a story.

Nate is one of the trainers for the NFL Las Vegas Slayers. He is also the son of the owner of the team. His father sells the franchise to the Blue family. Charlotte Blue is also on tap to be a trainer for the team.

Before all this can happen Charlotte and Nate hook up in a bar without knowing who each other are. Nate and Charlotte then meet at training camp to the surprise of both. Nate wants to keep his job but isn't happy with the Blue family for taking away what he views as his family's franchise. Not really the ending I expected which is good.

Quick read with a good story. I will probably see what else happens with the Blue family.

Review:

"Night Games" by Lisa Marie Perry was a good contemporary romance read that was a enjoyable read that did have some steamy hot sex. If you are a football lover that would love a interesting romance conflict interwoven into a twist of a plot then this read is for you. Be ready for a novel that will present conflict between two families and some characters that you will find believable as well as real and oh so well portrayed. Also you may even find some of the secondary characters even colorful giving this read a well rounded and written read. I did enjoy how the author was able to bring out to the reader about the football management element especially 'realistic dialogue and the issues that were about the loyalty and taking chances and the gender stereotypes that are so often found in footfall.' I thought this was a very interesting read about family, NFL football and romance. It was so captivating to see how this author was able to bring these two characters.... Charlotte and Nate together with all the conflict and give the reader such a sweet ending. Also it is good to know that this author will have another novel for us about two of the secondary characters...Now, who will that be? By the end of the end you will be given something to really think about...and with being said I would definitely recommend this read for you.

A Slightly different take on a Romeo and Juliet Romance, but with a Football Team and Set in Sin City! Sounds fun...right! Well, it is! Charlotte and Nate and HOT! The chemistry sizzles...and no, I am not talking about the Las Vegas heat...these two really have a connection, but their are some HUGE obstacles that they must face first, or it's broken heart city for this pair!

Our Heroine, Charlotte (Lottie), is one of the "Blue's", the daughter of the New Team owners of the Las Vegas Slayers Football Team, and Lottie is trying to keep the Assistant Trainer job that she busted her butt to get in the first place...guess it doesn't matter who your parents are...huh! Unfortunately for Lottie, she is also mixed up the another trainer, Nate Franco, whom is a part of the Franco Dynasty himself, aside from the fact that his father used to be the team owner, until the Blue's bought him out. So let's just say that the Blue's and the Franco's are NOT friendly...and Lottie and Nate are trying to keep their fling behind closed doors.

Add in more drama, which we love, a football team of trouble-makers and a few meddling family members, and you have yourself a Sassy, Emotional and Super-Fun Sports Romance. I for one am looking forward to the second book of the series, MIDNIGHT PLAY.

I also would love a novella on Joey, Charlotte's friend in the book...I wanted more back story on her, and I think her little side romance needed more attention...or I am just super nosy!

Lisa Marie Perry has officially been added to my auto-buy author list. Night Games is a 5 star book for me. I not only loved the plot and characters, I also loved the writing style! Ms. Perry has a way with words that will keep you reading and wanting more of it. Her turn of phrase flows perfectly. Her characters have such depth and their personal struggles touch the heart. I liked this book, don't recall reading any books by this author. This is the story of Charlotte Blue who works as a trainer for the Las Vegas Slayers, a football team recently acquired by her parents. Enter Nate Franco, a trainer for the same team. His father recently lost the team to the Blue family. There's a lot of chemistry between Charlotte and Nate, even though Nate feels that her parents coerced her father to sell. Sparks fly, tempers flare until the truth comes out.

Charlotte and Nate secret romance was HOT. I did not see those turn of events as being the truth behind the lost legacy. That made me dislike Al but I also clapped because Binbi light was shown. Tem and Marshall ticked me off but Charlotte backbone was finally speaking her mind might soften their resolve. Great HEA and storyline. I can't wait for book 2 and Martha secret romance.

Night Games Lisa Marie Perry
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
I was hoping for some excitement here, having enjoyed a couple of sports related romances recently. I didn't really get that though. I found it quite confusing working how who was who, and how they were related. Initially there were lots of abbreviations for characters roles too that I had to keep working out what they meant. I've recently read and loved the fabulous Shredded -Tracy Wolff and though that was full of unfamiliar snowboarding terms it didn't leave me confused as this did.
I felt for Charlotte under her parents thumb at home and at work, but they – especially her mum – were cold, not the loving sort but focussed on career, keeping up reputation and money. Happiness seemed to come last on their charts. Yet she was incredibly loyal, and still whenever something when wrong they were harsh, not at all supportive. I'd have said “get lost” or words to that effect long since :) she's not a teenager, but an adult with solid qualifications, yet all the while striving for parental approval and its clear that she's not going to get it. Its a male dominated world she's entering, and that part and how she handled events worked well, its always interesting to see a female trying to overcome stereotypes and prejudice. Nate, great guy but his family – well, much like Charlotte’s they were not good. His dad in particular was a user of people, but his sons just couldn't see it.
All that you'd think would provide a host of interesting scenes and some spicy romance, but somehow for me it didn't work. I wanted more of the day to day stuff, like Charlotte's interaction with the young player with bad rep, who she was trying to steer away from his past with steroids etc. but there was little of that. Instead there seemed to be lots of interactions that seemed to lead nowhere, and when the big reveal came over the Slayers it just fell flat. I was hoping for more drama and action, some heartbreak between Nate and Charlotte, but their romance seemed to be off more than it was on and I just didn't get the emotion I needed. Still – I’m one person etc etc and others will no doubt love this book. I'm always thankful we do have such a wide range of choices, that way there's always something for everyone.

Stars: Three, an OK romance just not really one to remember and make your heart beat quickly.

Night Games is the first book in the Blue Dynasty Series. It centers around Charlotte Blue and Nate Franco. Charlotte Blue is the new trainer on her parents’ newly acquired football team, The Las Vegas Slayers. Nate Franco is also a trainer on the team. He also happens to be the disgruntled son of the former owner of the Slayers. A chance meeting between the two of them prior to them knowing each other sets off a chain of events that ends in deception, heartache, and disappointment.

This was a good book. I actually read the second book in the series first so I was prepared for a lot of what happened. The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was my growing dislike of Charlotte’s parents, Marshall and Temperance Blue. Although their three daughters are grown, they constantly treated them like children. It was so annoying. More importantly, I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that the daughters, especially Charlotte who is the oldest, continued to allow it. If I had parents like them, I would have moved to the opposite side of the world. The mother was so much of a mommy dearest that it was sickening. She only cared about keeping up appearances and had no regard for her children’s happiness. In addition, Nate and his brother Santiago have their own issues with their father. He robbed them of their legacy and they are devastated. They want revenge and have no idea where their quest will lead them. It could be said that this book was about mothers & daughters, and fathers & sons. All of the usual stereotypes are addressed. In the end, everyone ends up needing a good dose of therapy.

I neglected to mention that there is also an intense romance brewing between Charlotte and Nate. It seemed to play second fiddle to everything else that went on but I did appreciate their situation. No good can possibly come from them being together, but they just can’t stay away from each other. They are just meant to be. I can’t say that everything that transpires is realistic to me but I would still recommend reading the book.

Who do you trust, yourself, your heart or the situation?

Perry is introducing a new series for readers The Blue Dynasty and Night Games is the first book in the series. Introductions are tough because they have to be such that readers want a return interaction with the characters. Or a vested interest in what will happen next. After reading Night Games
this reader is definitely ready for Book Two Midnight Play.

Ms.Perry did a wonderful job sharing Nate and Charlotte’s story. His family the previous owners, her family the current owners of the Slayers NFL team, but losing the team has left a bitter taste in Nate and his
brothers mouth. But to find out that the person you are in an affair with is the one and only Charlotte Blue, daughter of the current owners of the Slayers, makes moving forward challenging.

This should cause Nate to run, but he nor can Charlotte resist the attraction between them so the night games begin. Human relationships can bring about security and love - but sometimes they can also be taboo. Will they remain loyal to their families or their passions? I often wonder what it would be like to walk into a club and experience a night of passion with a stranger. What a freeing experience. Charlotte and Nate did it,
why can’t I.

Very good family read with an ending I didn't expect. A complimentary copy of this book was provided by the author in exchange for this review.

Who Wants to Play?

With the weight of their careers on their minds, an instant attraction between two strangers in a crowded room leads to a scorching sexual encounter…that almost happened. Once the smoke clears and this couple goes their separate ways, they meet at a crossroad called the Las Vegas Slayer’s football team.

Charlotte Blue is a female trainer in a male dominated sport and she tries so hard to make her parents proud. Team politics have come into play and Charlotte feels that she’s in an even more complicated position as her family takes the reins of the Las Vegas Slayer’s football team. Nate Franco’s family built their legacy with the Las Vegas Slayers and all of that is gone. His position on the team is now in jeopardy.

“Night Games” presentation was like glistening water but proved to be a mirage. I found myself muddling through the pages seeking the ending. This was just a basic read with basic characters and a basic storyline. No spine tingling scenes, no gasping for breath interactions, no memorable chemistry with any of the characters. I found myself more curious with the secondary characters…what happened to Joey…and who was sexing Lottie’s sister?

“Night Games” was a bust for me.

This book is about two people from two families; one who currently owned Las Vegas Slayers and the other from the family who used to own the team. Sees the conflict here? Charlotte have a lot to prove to her family: that she is capable as a female trainer and her capability to the world and not merely the daughter of the owner. Nate on the other hand, is worried about losing his job and have the perception that Charlotte’s parent forces his father to sell the team. It is a book on loyalty where the main characters are towards their families and how all these affected them in their relationship. It shows to all that though everything seems perfect on the onset, there are some hidden issues that we may not see and that life is about struggles and it is up to us to decide the way to move forward. The story is set in fast pace and I loved the fact that the story was set out with a female character trying hard to succeed in a man’s sport.

I received a copy through Goodreads.

I would give it 3.5 stars.

It was a quick, steamy and pleasant read.

I definitely enjoyed reading everything that Lottie goes through. She is quite the female, especially taking on such a male dominated profession, who isn't afraid to tackle and handle the football players for playing dirty and are verbally abusive. The interactions between her, her parents and other people are quite interesting. Great that she finally stood up to her parents and their unusually high expectations.

Nate, is quite the character. I would have liked a bit more character development on his part, like what Lottie went through.

The "villains" of the story aren't really villains in a sense, once you find out their back story and motivations behind their actions. It certainly puts into perspective how Bindi became the person she is.

This was a good book but it could be better. I'm a sucker for a good romance mixed with a little bit of football. The Blue Dynasty seems like it is going to be a good series. The only problem I have and it irked my nerves the entire book is that the author seemed to have gotten the "big word syndrome" So many authors do this and it kills the story. We as readers understand that you are educated but sometimes it makes the book read like a scientific thesis instead of a romance novel. I don't like having to look up words while reading. Other than that, Nate and Charlottes story was pretty good.

*~* I received an ARC for an honest review *~*

The book had a good concept with the main characters having a similar situation in their lives. I liked the way everything worked out in the end though.

For me I had a really hard time getting into the book. There were too many "Brand" name dropping and at time it was to descriptive with too much back story to the situation. will say that the book kept me hooked so that I am wanting to read the next book to know more about the next character in more detail.

I received this book thought a Goodreads giveaway.

Night Games was a fun, juicy read. Lottie and Nate's romance was exciting to watch develop, and the feuding families added another dimension to the story. The relationship betweem Lottie and Joey, as well as the different family dynamics between the Blue's was very entertaining and added some great complexity to the plot. This was a great start to the Dynasty series.

This ended up being an OK read for me. If you're looking for a family drama with some soap opera flavor, there's a lot of that going on here. However as a romance? It just didn't work for me. Not enough focus on the main couple, who spend very little time on page together. Instead the focus is on the drama, the secondary characters and setting up the series. So depending on what you're looking for? This may or may not work for you.

DNFing at 50%.

I made it to the 50% mark and the hero and heroine have barely spent any time together. They are on opposing sides of football management - so I get they are kind of enemies but I'm bored they aren't together yet.

There is a lot of time spent setting everything up and stuff - just don't like the flow of this one.

World Building: football training camp
Plot: real story behind ownership change, revenge, trust
Sex: euphemistic and somewhat offstage
Read another: Probably

I'd like to know what happens to the characters, but the plot and sex took a backseat.
