Melissa Baxter was doing fine rebuilding her life after an ugly divorce when her hot[,] new neighbor, Dylan moves in across the street.
His good looks and charm distract her, and although she tries to entice him to notice her, he seems more interested in a platonic relationship. When he doesn’t pick up on her subtle hints of interest, she decides that a friendship is better than nothing.
Until one day… when a decorating [session] turns into something more, much more.
The heat turns up a notch and Melissa races to keep up. But will Melissa’s ex-husband, and Dylan’s step-mother stand in their way of being happy?
Started off looking promising...then everything just seemed to move at rapid speed, like everything was being rushed to get to certain points of the story. And it seemed like every few pages Dylan and Melissa were having sex. While I am fine with sex in books, even when there's a lot, this just seemed like total overkill. They're hot for each other...we get it...now can there be some more to the story please? And as far as the ending went-really? If I was Melissa, I'd have had someone other than her ex taking care of Dylan and certainly would have ordered him away when the delivery was happening. Just not really believable.
This story could be so much better with reworking, grammar/editing corrections and a huge re-think of the ending.
This book was an okay summer/fall read. The characters were well developed. The story itself wasn’t bad; however, I thought there were some sub plots that weren’t completed. The timing was a little confusing, and had you guessing for the first couple paragraphs, if time had shifted or if it was continuing from the last chapter. Minor edit work that still needs to be done, might become distracting to some readers. Almost every chapter ended with a sex scene (I don’t mind that, as long as the sex changes up a little bit). I found myself skimming the end of the chapters towards the end of the book.
I liked the idea of this book better then the execution. There were things I did like. I liked the way Melissa finally stood up to Greg and demanded respect. I love that Dylan was so attentive that he was able to save Melissa when she needed him the most. I hate Marie's character, as expected. And I was happy Greg started to actually turn his life around and was there when Mel needed a friend.
This book was a really good love story that just makes you sigh. Just FYI there were some sexual scenes, but it was tasteful in my opinion. Was a little disappointed that the book ended. Would have liked to see what happened with the step mother. Sequel maybe? I highly recommend this book.
The story line would have been amazing if there was more story and less of the same sex scence... every other page was a sex scene. I am all for some steamy, hot, connection but this was what the entire story was.
This book was good. I liked the story but some parts were confusing and seemed rushed especially the ending which left some unanswered questions about Dylan and his past. It needs some minor editing in regards to using past vs present tense.
Cute story, however it looked one sided. We know a lot about Melissa but not enough about Dylan. Quick reading with A LOT of sex scenes that I just skipped.
