This is the second book I've now read by KrissyAnn Granger and I have to say I'm already on Chapter 5 of Book 3, Abigail Finds Peace. They're all set in the 1880s and start as a Mail-order bride romances and turn into stories built on strong women, family, and a strong sense of friendship and loyalty.
In this book, Sarah's friend Denise dies during childbirth on the eve of Sarah's trip to Hope, Montana, where's supposed to meet Caine Maxwell as his mail-order bride. She surprises him with Denise's baby, an orphan deserted by Denise's one-time fiancé.
Welcomed to the family with open arms, Sarah, Caine, and their daughter, Daisy, adjust to life on a ranch out west.
Granger has done a nice job interweaving the origins of the women heading out west as mail-order brides with the upcoming stories in the series allowing the reader to better know the characters who all make up the Maxwell group.
This was a fun and a relatively quick read and I recommend it for anyone wanting a good romance with a happy ending. I've already pre-ordered the remaining books in this series, though I'm already hoping there will be more!

Disappointed in this 1880s historical romance. Not.
a clean read. Cannot believe the language that comes out of the mouth of the main character who went through three years of finishing school.

Sarah was raised almost as one of the guys on her father’s ranch but now she’s to be a proper lady. Sarah wants to be free to work on the ranch. Sarah witnesses a crime, becomes a mail order bride to Caine Maxwell, twin brother of Caleb (book 1). It was a learning experience for the guys as Sarah proves she could do a so-called man’s job as well as they could. I was especially entertained by her special relationship with a particular horse.
It was such a refreshing change to see the identical twins portrayed as individuals with unique personalities, hangups etc, rather carbon copies of each other. Housekeeper/mother-figure twins Rose and Iris, also identical twins, share a special bond but have distinct personalities as well. The brides are both from Boston but are had very different upbringings, skills and temperaments. This series stresses looking at each for what they bring to the family, not their looks.
There were plenty of plot twists, danger and action in addition to ranch life and romance. Caine and Sarah’s romance reaches a happy conclusion but there are still unanswered questions about the series-long mystery.

Good Storyline. Good characters. But....
This book has a good storyline good characters, and lots of things happening.
What I didn't care much for...
The language used is not of that era.
Who called someone baby, unless it was a baby.
And, I know it was Sarah's character but I could have done without the language she and the others used.
I probably won't read another book in the series because I would rather not read all the language they use.
Maybe there was a rare woman who might have talked like that in the 1800's but I would dare say most women in that era would have fainted hearing this language.
That is why I say it smacks more of modern era language.

You can't help but fall in love with Sarah!
After reading the teaser from Book 1, Jeni Finds Safety, I couldn't wait to read Book 2. It did not disappoint. To be honest, I think I like this book even better than the first. The main character is bold and strong yet tender and loving. There is an aspect about the book that I was very pleased about but because it may spoil the plot, I won't divulge. Granger writes in a way that makes you want to continue reading and ignore your responsibilities. Excited for the next book. It can't come soon enough!

Sarah is one super cool character!
I loved Sarah she did what she had to do and her groom was outstanding he stepped in all the way. It was a sad beginning but a wonderful ending. I liked that Jeni and Sarah were together again and this time they were sisters because they married the twins. Interesting challenges her father really needed an attitude adjustment and it was good to see how things between Sarah and him changed. This book was as good as the first. I am on to book three now cannot wait! I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

The second book in the Maxwell Brides Series another well written story in this series with a storyline that had me turning pages. Surprisingly good
An enjoyable story. Well written, well except for a couple of phrases not really for the time period. Like freaking out, or human trafficking, or drugs. Maybe that's meant for easier understanding? Otherwise I enjoyed it. It teared me up, made me smile and laugh. Those are the good ones. I hope you enjoy it too! Happy reading! LoriKatt 😸

Krissyann is an amazing author!
I have read two books in this series and have loved them both! If the prices go down I would love to read the rest in the series. Unfortunately I can not afford the prices as they are right now so will be watching close for lower prices.

Loved the book. The character's were so real and concerned with their families. This book had so much caring for each other. I enjoyed reading this book. I didn't understand how a tea can produce milk, when the mother did not deliver a baby I give it a 5 stars. 😊

Sarah is a fighter!
I loved Sarah's story. She is truly the woman Jeni said her to be and an ever true friend. I can't wait to see how much more she can disturb the lives of The Maxwell brothers. I love every minute of it! Enjoy!

Honestly don't know what to says about this. It was ridiculous, but I didn't hate it. The writing was pretty bad, a lot of telling instead of showing. There was a lack of meaningful dialogue between characters which made me feel disconnected from them. The modern colloquialisms took me out of the historical setting.
I think I enjoyed the story because it fit my mood at the time. Also, the pacing makes it a quick read. This series is the Hallmark of books, although it's a bit less wholesome. It's forgettable but cozy.

Strong character
This is an entertaining historical romance/drama about a mail order bride in the early days of Montana. Combined with the romances are a number of adventures and it lot of close family and friends who care deeply for each other. This characters are interesting strong people who have a healthy confidence in themselves and others.

I was so hoping Denise would be in the next story. I was saddened when I read she died in childbirth. I am happy that Caine loved Daisy right away, so sweet.

Too Many Historical Mistakes
The book would have been so much better if the author would’ve done some research. There were too many historical errors to really enjoy the story.

The series obviously moves from one book to another without a break in action, as this one literally ended in the middle of action.

I am totally enjoying this series! Loved Caine and Sarah's story, especially that he showed up with flowers to meet her stage. I love how the entire family sticks together through every challenge and celebration. Iris and Rose are jewels. Will continue reading the rest of the series!

So good! Love that Sarah was badass!! I was super sad about Denise but I was wondering when she was going to come out to see Sarah and Jeni…then I got my answer. Love how these stories are interwoven. Caine as a widower and working through his grief was definitely something I thought was interesting. I also loved how he helped Sarah get through her nerves…constant touch. I loved the line that Sarah explained to him that respect is not the same as trust…I felt bad that she had to keep proving herself to Caine and everyone that she knew her shit. They were all basing their experiences off of Amy the dead wife not her. So many good things in this one! Loved it!!

What century is this supposed to be?
The story wasn't bad (except for the abrupt no-ending and teaser for a continuation...) but the language throughout was bizarrely modern, especially coming from a woman who's been to finishing school.
Phrases like "creeped out" "peeled out" (especially as this was badly written as "pealed" like a bell... 🙄), as well as much of the cussing was all just so strangely out of place here. The sex scenes were surprisingly skimpy on detail, which perhaps made the swearing more odd.
No problem with sex or swearing myself, it's just that the language didn't match the era so much of the time and the incongruity so frequently ruined the flow of the story.

good book but…
There is a good book in here. Personally I did not think the swearing did anything for the book except cheapen it and the ranch. It wasn’t necessary. To call the horse an a..hole all the time was on the ugly side. To keep saying G.. dam was totally unacceptable. For the story, the story was good as I said but I am not sure there was human trafficking or street drugs back then or producing breast milk for another’s baby was believable especially at that time in history (if ever). So the basics of the book were good, just a little unbelievable at times with very unnecessary swearing. I would have given it 3.5 stars if possible, but since it wasn’t gave it 4 stars as the guts of the book were good.

Sarah is a free spirit, but her father plans would cage her up. In the hopes of fleeing she signs up to be a mail order bride for Caine, but before she leaves she's given her late friend's baby Daisy. Caine knew loss and that made him over protective, especially with a ready made family on the door step in Sarah and Daisy. But can they make it work when Sarah needs freedom. Well written book 2 in the series of historical western romance. An engaging story and well developed characters. The story draws you in and holds your attention through out. You really get the swoonworthy classic westerns feels!

Good plot, actions, and characters
The story of people in the early days of Montana is a good one. However, I could have done without all the profanity throughout the book. I know it's supposed to show how tough they were, and they were, but it didn't help, in my opinion. It distracted from all the stories within, from a best friend's death to kidnappings to Sarah's amazing talents, and, of course, everlasting love. It's a bit too long for me. Each of the characters' stories could have stood alone.

Sarah witnessed a bank robbery and thinks she is being followed so she decides to become a mail order bride. She just didn’t expect to have a baby with her when she arrived. Her friend died in childbirth and left the baby to her. Caine is marrying her to stop the local women from chasing him. He doesn’t expect to fall for the girl and the baby.

Give me a break already!! And the Heroine is a piece of work!! She thinks she’s a b a. one minute then she tries to act demure… 2 seconds after the boring love scene she acts like she runs the show. I’m not sure I’ll finish this book… Sarah is the worst!
