The book is filled with information, and the Q and A style format makes it easy to target specific parts of history. I enjoyed some sections, while others felt like a slog. Every Hispanic should read a book like this at least once, just to get a feel for where we come from. It is surface level but accessible.
This is a must-have for Spanish teachers like me. I think I am going to make this required reading for my Spanish 1 classes next year because it covers so many of the topics we talk about in class. I am all about reading across the curriculum. I wish this author would write one that focused even more on Spain.
I think this book would be interesting to someone who was not studying a language. Our history intertwines so much with that of Mexico and the Caribbean, we can all learn something new. The question and answer format was easy to read.
Good read, it has a lot of information concerning the breakdown of the different Latino cultures known throughout the world. It gives a good understanding of the different influences within these cultures.
I liked the Q&A format of this book - a different way of packaging a study/review guide, including bolded terms. I will return to this book if/when I need a refresher on the topic.
